Fusion-based Deck that is extremely strong against Dragon-type Decks, and can be the strongest hard counter Can turn all monsters on the field into Dragon-type with the help of Buster Dragon Once set up, is both an aggro and a control Deck because of the floodgate-like effect
|
Buster Blader is known in tandem as one of the secondary aces of Yugi Muto in the original anime, and has been a powerful counter to Seto Kaiba's Dragon-type monsters. For ever Dragon-type monster in the GY, it gets an ATK boost.
This has been expanded upon with its retrain, Buster Blader, the Destruction Swordsmaster, which takes on the old card's name while on the field or in the GY. If a monster the opponent's controls gets destroyed by battle, it can be equipped to this monster afterwards, and can be detached afterwards to destroy all monsters the opponent controls that has the same type.
Buster Blader's archetypal support comes to a small pet that carries its sword, with both versions of monsters being Tuners that can be used for Buster Blader's extra deck. The first one is Buster Whelp of the Destruction Swordsman, which searches out a fellow "Destruction Sword", and has one of two choices for its second once-per-turn effect.
Dragon Buster Destruction Sword acts as a floodgate once it's equipped toa "Buster Blader" monster. While equipped, the opponent is essentially locked out of their entire Extra Deck. It can also Special Summon itself from the Spell/Trap Zone while equipped to a monster.
Tenyi Spirit - Ashuna might not be associated with the "Buster Blader" archetype, but is a very good combo opener for the Deck. It will almost always be the first monster to be summoned, as it can be Special Summoned if you control no Effect Monster. Unfortunately, its other effect cannot be activated as there are no Normal Monsters in the rest of the Deck.
Where Arf Thou? is your primary searcher for the Level 1 Tuners like Buster Whelp of the Destruction Swordsman and Dragon Buster Destruction Sword, and is a key combo starter. Pot of Prosperity is another key searcher because of its ability to excavate and pick out a possible card out of the presented options.
Foolish Burial Goods sends a Spell or Trap from the Deck directly to the Graveyard. The Deck's Spel Cards are too important to send to the GY, but a couple of dedicated Trap Cards benefit from being there, as they have Graveyard effects for the archetype.
Each of these Trap Cards have their standard effect, but also can be banished from the Graveyard to active a second one. Trap Trick is in the Deck to get the other Trap Cards on the field faster.
For example, Prologue of the Destruction Swordsman is what players can use to cheat out a Special Summon of Buster Dragon without even needing to Synchro Summon. If it activates its GY effect, "Destuction Sword" effects cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects.
Destruction Sword Memories lets you Special Summon a "Buster Blader" straight from the Deck, and can be banished from the GY to do a Fusion Summon. Meanwhile, Destruction Sword Flash banishes all monsters the opponent controls if you control a Fusion Monster that lists "Buster Blader" as material, and is a free negate against targeted effects to a "Buster Blader" monster when in the GY.
Buster Dragon and Buster Blader, The Dragon Destroyer Swordsman are the two Extra Deck Monsters the entire Deck is built around to get on the field as soon as possible. Once both are on the field, combined with an Dragon Buster Destruction Sword, effectively locks out the opponent out of playing the game properly, making them targets for the Fusion Monster's piercing battle damage.
Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss is an optional monster to summon to make use of the Level 8 Buster Dragon, and the Level 1 Tuners from the Main Deck. It acts as protection with its negate against targeted effects to the opponent's face-up cards.

What better way to deny a Buster Blader Deck a chance to get their key monsters out than just to Deck them out as much as possible? Runick Decks embody this playstyle very well, and is hard to respond against the plethora of Quick-Play Spells.

Branded Despia, the strongest Deck in the current meta, can definitely deal against this Buster Blader, especially if Branded Despia manages to win the coinflip and go first. It has quite a lot of options to respond against the different floodgates that a Buster Blader Deck.

Floodgate against floodgate, Umi Control can get to their disruptions far faster than a Buster Blader Deck, which usually needs two boss monsters from the Extra Deck to completely set the pace of a Duel. Their freedom with the Extra Deck to complement the control playstyle also makes them unpredictable.

One of the most consistent Decks in the current meta, Tenyi Swodsoul can completely shut down a Buster Blader Deck if they manage to go first. Buster Blader Decks might have a chance if they can turn the Wyrm-type monsters into Dragon-type, so it is a race to whoever gets their win conditions out on the field faster.
