Pot of Desires |
At the risk of banishing multiple key cards from the Main Deck face-down as cost, Pot of Desires lets the player draw 2 cards. This can let the player get to more crucial cards faster, meaning access to the Extra Deck that much quicker. |
Triple Tactics Talent & Triple Tactics Thrust |
Great for going second, the Triple Tactics Spell Cards punish the opponent for using monster effects during your own turn. Triple Tactics Thrust can search any Normal Spell Card from the Deck, while Triple Tactics Talent has three effects to choose from; all meant to punish the opponent. |
PSY-Framegear Gamma |
Another popular hand trap to run and great when going second, PSY-Framegear Gamma negates a monster effect while you control no monsters. This effect does not have any once-per-turn clause, meaning if it's still in the hand after getting negated, it can activate its effect again. |
Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer |
Usually a Rank 4 Xyz staple alongside Tornado Dragon, Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer can either flip a monster face-down, or shuffle it back to the Deck. Both effects can be used offensively against the opponent, or defensively to protect your own monsters. |
Daigusto Emeral |
Another usual staple for Rank 4 Xyz Monsters, Daigusto Emeral can detach a material from itself to shuffle three monsters in the GY, then draw a card once per turn. While not the most impressive in terms of stats, this monster can refresh your cards for later use while providing card advantage. |
Gagaga Cowboy |
Gagaga Cowboy is a cheeky option that has its effects change depending on the position its in. If he's in Attack Position, this card gains an ATK boost and the opponent's a decrease when it attacks. However, most would use its effect while in Defense Position, dealing effect damage to whittle away at the opponent's Life Points. |

Ryzeal is a very small collection of Level 4 Effect Monsters and Rank 4 Xyz Monsters that specializes in bringing out powerful Xyz Monsters to the field with ease. They can swarm the field with Ryzeal monsters with materials to be used for Xyz Summoning.
Rank 4s are some of the most represented Xyz Monsters in the game due to its accessibility. Most of the chosen ones for a Ryzeal Deck are for controlling the pace of a Duel, setting up interruptions, protections and negations among others.
The key cards you want to have to be able to start a combo is Sword Ryzeal, Ice Ryzeal or the Semi-Limited Ext Ryzeal. Each one of these monsters can search a certain Ryzeal monster upon summon, and all of them can Special Summon themselves from the hand. They are all combo starts in their own right, which is why players must max them out to their legal limit.
Ext Ryzeal is especially key here since it needs to send an Xyz Monster from the Extra Deck to the GY to Special Summon itself from the hand. This is where Mereologic Aggregator comes into play, which when sent there can negate a face-up card on the field for the rest of the turn.
Node Ryzeal and Star Ryzeal are more for supplementing the archetype's playstyle. Node Ryzeal can Special Summon itself if you already control an Xyz Monster, and can Special Summon a fellow Ryzeal monster from the GY with negated effects.
Star Ryzeal can Special Summon itself by detaching a material from an Xyz Monster you control. On Special Summon, the player can set a Ryzeal Spell or Trap Card from the Deck, which is what you will often use to get to Ryzeal Cross.
Ryzeal Cross can recycle Ryzeal Cards from the GY to the bottom of the Deck, and provides a draw. It also doubles as a negation, stopping a card or effect by detaching a material from a Ryzeal Xyz Monster. The aforementioned Field Spell is one half of what makes the Deck a powerful Control Deck, and its summon restriction does not even matter.
Ryzeal Plugin is more of a situational Quick-Play Spell, but it can at least make use of banished Xyz or Ryzeal monsters back onto the field. It also attaches a card from the GY to a Rank 4 Xyz Monster you control, which also includes the same one you could summon through this effect.
Because the Ryzeal cards themselves can take up little space in the Main Deck, players are left with a wider window to put their own cards in here. Our own suggestion is to fill the gaps with every handtrap you can think of, to be able to respond to different Decks in some capacity.
Staples like Maxx “C”, Ash Blossom, Mulcharmy Fuwalos and Effect Veiler are becoming quite common in the current meta. Nibiru punishes Special Summon-centric strategies, ang the various Ghost handtraps (Ghost Belle, Ghost Mourner, Ghost Ogre) are different forms of interruptions.
Bonfire is currently Limited to 1 thanks Snake-Eyes still being fairly powerful in the Master Duel scene. If restrictions on it ever get lifted, make sure to maximize copies of this Spell Card as soon as possible.
For now, have one of your Xyz Monsters in the Extra Deck fulill the conditions for Seventh Tachyon. Preferrably, get a LIGHT Xyz Monster as the target, so that it can search out either Ice Ryzeal or Ext Ryzeal.
The first of the two Ryzeal Xyz monsters you want to summon is Ryzeal Duo Drive. It boosts your monsters' ATK and lowers the opponent's while this face-up card has materials attached to it. However, you will mostly use it for its ability to search 2 Ryzeal cards with different names from your Deck.
Those two monsters are often going to be used to summon the main boss monster of the Deck, Ryzeal Detonator. Its Quick Effect negation also destroys a card on the field simultaneously, making it harder to protect some cards. Also, it provides protection to your other Xyz Monsters, detaching a material from itself to protect them in battle.
The rest of the Xyz Monsters are up to the player's discretion, however we do have listed a few popular ones being used from different Decks. Just keep in mind that Sword Ryzeal, Ext Ryzeal and Star Ryzeal locks its user into only using Rank 4 Xyz Monsters for the rest of the turn, so construct your Extra Deck accordingly.

A number of the Ryzeal monsters in the Main Deck are one-card combos that will almost always end with a Ryzeal Detonator and Ryzeal Cross on the field in some fashion. The easiest one to pull of would be with Ext Ryzeal, which when played right you would have used one of the Ryzeal Monsters in your Deck List each.
| Cards Needed on Hand |
| Step |
Description |
| 1 |
Special Summon Ext Ryzeal from the hand by sending Mereologic Aggregator from the Extra Deck to the GY. Use its effect upon being Summoned; search a copy of Sword Ryzeal from the Deck. Note: If there is a card face-up on the opponent's field, activate and use Aggregator's effect to negate it. |
| 2 |
Because you have Ext Ryzeal on the field already, Special Summon Sword Ryzeal to the field afterwards. On summon, trigger its effect; add Ice Ryzeal to the hand. Normal Summon Ice Ryzeal afterwards, then activate its effect; Special Summon Star Ryzeal from the Main Deck, which then you trigger its effect to set Ryzeal Cross onto the Field Spell Zone. Activate it afterwards |
| 3 |
Use Ice Ryzeal and Star Ryzeal as materials first to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator. On summon, trigger its effect to attach a monster from your GY to itself as material. |
| 4 |
Using Ext Ryzeal and Sword Ryzeal as materials, Link Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive. Then, use its effect to detach two materials for itself; add Node Ryzeal and Ryzeal Plugin. |
| 5 |
Special Summon Node Ryzeal as you have an Xyz Monster in the GY in Mereologic Aggregator. Use its effect on Summon; send Duo Drive (and its materials) to the GY; then Special Summon one of the regular Level 4 Ryzeal Monsters (with its effects negated). |
| 6 |
Using Node Ryzeal and the other Level 4 Ryzeal monster as material, Xyz Summon Number 60: Dugares the Timeless. Use its effect to Draw 2 cards and discard 1. |
| 7 |
Activate Ryzeal Cross; target two Ryzeal cards from the GY (preferrably Ext and Sword) and place them to the bottom of your Main Deck in any order, then draw a card. Then, Set Ryzeal Pluigin for the next turn. |
Ryzeal Detonator |
Ryzeal Detonator is the main monster you want on the field when playing this Deck. On Special Summon, this monster can attach 1 monster in the GY to itself as material. Then it can also negate a card or effect once per turn as a Quick Effect. It also provides protection to all other Xyz Monsters you control, preventing them from being destroyed by battle by detaching a material from itself. |
Ryzeal Duo Drive |
Ryzeal Duo Drive is equally important to the Deck than its partner, Ryzeal Detonator. For starters, the more material this card has, the more your monsters' ATK gets boosted and the more the opponent's gets lowered. Its main purpose is to search out "Ryzeal" cards by detaching materials from any Xyz Monster you control. It also enjoys the perk of attaching a monster from the GY upon being Special Summoned. |
Full Armored Utopic Ray Lancer |
While Full Armored Utopic Ray Lancer is on the field, all monsters the opponent controls loses 500 ATK. Then, it negates all the effects of the opponent's monsters that are in Attack Position at the start of the Battle Phase. When it destroys a monster by battle, it can make a second attack by detaching a material from itself! |
Evilswarm Exciton Knight |
Evilswarm Exciton Knight can use its board wipe effect once per chain, meaning it can be used multiple times in a single turn. Its only condition is that the opponent must have more cards in the hand and field compared to you. While it does prevent the opponent from receiving any further damage for the rest of the turn, this Quick Effect can be used during the opponent's Battle Phase. |

In the TCG and OCG, Maliss and Ryzeal have dominated the meta game since their reespective releases. It took key cards from both Decks getting hit in the Forbidden & Limited Card List for both Decks to have playability affected, and even then they still have signficant presence as of writing.
A match-up against Maliss is dependent on who goes first, and who has the better starting hand to respond to any sort of play.
Maliss Deck Guide and Card List

Kashtira is one of the best Decks to punish the opponent for using monster effects while their key monsters are on the field. While cards get banished face-down, Kashtira Shangri-Ira blocks off card zones from being used. When used enough times on Monster Zones, this denies the Ryzeal player openings to summon their key Xyz Monsters Detonator and Duo Drive.
It gets even harder for Ryzeal if they end up going second against Kashtira, and do not have the right cards to stop a Kashtira combo.
Kashtira Deck List & Card Guide

One of the few Xyz archetypes that can go toe-to-toe with Ryzeal are Goblin Bikers, for the sole reason what they specialize in removing materials from Xyz Monsters on the field. Having them removed basically deactivates the control for the Deck, as they need it for effect negations and board wipes.
Goblin Biker Big Gabonga can absorb monsters on the field as a response to Xyz Material getting detached, while cards like Dugg Charger and Grand Entrance can detach materials without having to target Xyz Monsters on the field.
Goblin Biker Deck List & Card Guide
Ultimate Slayer |
Ultimate Slayer seems to be aa powerful counter against Ryzeal, as all it needs as an activation cost is to send a card of the same type as the target from the Extra Deck to the GY. It shuffles the target back into the Extra Deck, and monster effects like Ryzeal Detonator's cannot be used as a response. It only has to deal with Ryzeal Cross being a secondary negation. |
Dimensional Barrier |
For Trap-based Decks like Traptrix and Labrynth, they have the option to run Dimensional Barrier. This denies the opponent the ability to Special Summon a chosen Monster Type (Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Link) from the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn. When timed well, this denies Ryzeal any chance to summon. |
Dark Ruler No More |
Dark Ruler No More cannot be responded to with monster effects, meaning Ryzeal Detonator cannot negate this Spell Card. This neutralizes all face-up monsters the opponent controls, negating their effects for the rest of the turn. In exchange, they cannot receive any form of damage for the same duration. |
Droll & Lock Bird |
The Ryzeal Deck needs to searhc out its key cards in order to get going properly. Droll & Lock Bird denies any further additions to the hand, and effectively stops the lingering effects of activated hand traps like the Mulcharmy cards and Maxx "C". Just keep in mind that this has to be sent from hand to the GY to be able to use its effect. |
Forbidden Droplet |
Forbidden Droplet cannot be responded to with card types that were discarded to activate this Quick-Play Spell. It targets and negates the effects of the monsters it pinpoints, and also cuts their ATK by half. |
