Bystial Branded Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Bystial Branded is a deck that focuses on gaining control of the game. The deck's playstyle revolves around performing a salvo of Fusion Summons, taking advantage of the LIGHT and DARK attributes, as well as a strong grind game with its great late-game resource management.

Aluber the Jester of Despia Fallen of Albaz Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous Guiding Quem, the Virtuous

Aluber the Jester of Despia is the main combo starter and searcher of the deck as it lets you search for any "Branded " Spell/Trap upon Summon.

Fallen of Albaz and Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous are the deck's primary Fusion Materials for "Branded" Fusion Monsters. They can also perform Fusion Summon without the use of any Spell cards.

Branded Fusion Branded Opening Branded in Red Branded in High Spirits

Branded Fusion is the Deck's heart and soul. This lets you use Fusion Materails straight from the Deck, which already adds to card advantage.

Branded Opening is a Quick-Play Spell that lets you add or Special Summon a "Despia" Monster from the Deck after a discard. This also gives protection to your Fusion Monsters by banishing itself from the GY to prevent effect destruction.

For support Branded in Red is another Quick-Play Spell that lets you recycle a Despia monster from the GY and perform Fusion Summon even during your opponent's turn. Meanwhile, Branded in High Spirits can act as a searcher and a way to send one of the Fusion Monsters straight to the GY.

Bystial Magnamhut Bystial Saronir Bystial Druiswurm Bystial Baldrake The Bystial Lubellion

The Bystial monsters, except The Bystial Lubelion all share an effect that banishes Light or Dark monster from either GY to Special Summon themselves. The Bystial engine counters most decks that uses Dark and Light monsters as they can banish them in the GY.

The Bystial Lubelion on the other hand searches any Bystial monster from the deck as well as revive itself from the GY.

Despian Tragedy Tri-Brigade Mercourier Springans Kitt Albion the Shrouded Dragon

Despian Tragedy lets you add any "Despia" monster from the deck when banished or sent to the GY by effect, this includes when Tragedy is used as Fusion material.

Tri-Brigade Mercourier is a hand trap that lets you negate an oponent's monster effect if you control a Fusion Monster. Mercourier also lets you add Fallen of Albaz or any related card when banished.

Springans Kitt is another monster that lets you search for your "Branded" Spell/Trap.

Albion the Shrouded Dragon is another copy of Fallen of Albaz in the deck. This also lets you send any "Branded" Spell/Trap from the Deck to GY.

Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon Albion the Branded Dragon Granguignol the Dusk Dragon Lubellion the Searing Dragon

Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon is the main boss monster of the deck. It is relatively easy to Summon and provides multiple threats to the opponent: it has a non-targeting banish effect and it also destroys all monsters your opponent controls when it leaves the field.

Albion the Branded Dragon lets you Fusion Summon consecutively when it is Summoned. It also adds any "Branded" Spell/Trap from deck during the End Phase when it was sent to the GY.

Granguignol the Dusk Dragon serves as the secondary boss monster of the deck. It can Special Summon any "Despia" monster from the Extra Deck, making it swarming the field easier.

Lubellion the Searing Dragon works similarly to Albion but Lubellion recycles the material back to the deck instead.

Alternative Options

Gimmick Puppet Lock

Gimmick Puppet Nightmare Branded Expulsion

The Gimmick Puppet Lock engine provides a strong restriction to the opponent. Using Branded Expulsion
to Special Summon Gimmick Puppet Nightmare to the opponent's side of the field to lock them out from Special Summoning non-Gimmick Puppet monsters.

Synchro Spright Engine

Spright Blue Assault Synchron Chaos Ruler, the Chaotic Magical Dragon

The Synchro Spright Engine is another variant of the Bystials deck. In conjunction with Spright's strong Level 2 combo, and Bystial's easy summoning of Level 6 monsters, you can easily Special Summon strong Level 8 and Level 10 Synchro Monsters.

NOTE: This Engine can no longer be run in a Bystial Branded Deck due to Chaos Ruler, the Chaotic Magical Dragon being marked as Forbidden since January 10, 2024.

Boss Monsters

Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon
Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon is one of the strongest threats that "Branded" decks can summon. It has a quick-effect banish and can also destroy monsters your opponent controls upon leaving the field.
Albion the Branded Dragon
Albion the Branded Dragon Albion the Branded Dragon acts as an extender for Fusion Summon plays of the deck. It also has a GY effect that lets you add or set any "Branded" Spell/Trap during the End Phase.
Granguignol the Dusk Dragon
Granguignol the Dusk Dragon Granguignol the Dusk Dragon acts as a threat to the opponent while on the field or in the GY, as it can Special Summon any Despia monster from the Extra Deck if an opponent's monster is Special Summoned by monster effect.

Best Decks to Use Against Bystial Branded

Floowandereeze

Floowandereeze Top Image

Floowandereeze excels in a barrage of Normal Summons. Floowandereeze & Empen limits the ability of any Special Summoned monster on the field as long as they are in Attack Position. Floowandereeze decks also possess multiple floodgates that can greatly slow down Bystial Branded decks.

Floowandereeze Deck Guide

Best Cards to Tech Against Bystial Branded

Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Activating Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring in response to Branded Fusion can gravely slow down the tempo of Bystials Despia especially if they don't have the proper response and extension for this card.
Bystial Magnamhut
Bystial Magnamhut Bystial Magnamhut and any Bystial monsters that have Quick-Effect banish can disrupt the combo of Bystial Branded as most of the monsters in this deck are Dark and Light.
Dimension Shifter
Dimension Shifter Dimension Shifter cuts the GY access of any deck it faces. Since Bystial Branded uses the GY as its secondary resource, limiting the access to it greatly slows down the deck.
