Dinomorphia Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Dinomorphia has a playstyle that can be best defined as high risk, high reward. It is heavily reliant on Trap Cards and Fusion Monsters, and its strength gets stronger the lower your own Life Points are. It encourages you to lower your own LP as much as possible.

Main Deck Monsters

Dinomorphia Therizia Dinomorphia Diplos

There are only two archetype monsters in this Deck Recipe, and one of them does not even need to have a full three copies.

Dinomorphia Therizia is the the Main Deck Monster enabler of the Deck, as when Summoned it searches out a "Dinomorphia" monster, and can Special Summon a Level 4 "Dinomorphia" monster from the GY other than itself.

Dinomorphia Diplos can send a "Dinomorphia" card from the Deck to the GY, and if your LP is low enough, it has an added burn damage effect.

Dinowrestler Pankratops Miscellaneousaurus

Miscellaneousaurus can be used to make your Dinosaur monsters completely immune from your opponent's activated effects. Meanwhile Dinowrestler Pankratops is a free summon and card destruction once it tributes itself from the field. It can even avoid targeted card effects this way.

Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion

These two are the perfect handtraps for this Deck and its Control playstyle. Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit is a specific counter for Runick Fountain while Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion deals with Special Summoning monsters from the GY, and a counter for Called by the Grave.

Spell Cards

Fossil Dig Called by the Grave Pot of Prosperity Pot of Duality

Fossil Dig searches out a copy of your Main Deck "Dinomorphia" monsters. Called by the Grave deals with hand traps like Maxx "C" and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.

Pot of Prosperity and Pot of Duality are the Spell Card searchers that affect the availability of your cards the least.

Trap Cards

Dinomorphia Domain Dinomorphia Frenzy

Protect these two Trap Cards--as they are the only cards in the Deck that allows you to Fusion Summon your boss monsters.

While Dinomorphia Domain and Dinomorphia Frenzy have similar Fusion Summon effects that require you to half your own LP, its requirements are completely different. Domain allows materials from the hand, Deck or Field, while Frenzy only allows one monster from the Deck, and another monster from the Extra Deck.

They also both have a secondary effect to protect you from effect damage once you are at 2000 LP or below.

Dinomorphia Alert Dinomorphia Brute Dinomorphia Shell

There are more situational "Dinomorphia" monsters that can help out at crucial moments. Dinomorphia Alert lets you Special Summon up to two "Dinomorphia" monsters whose levels combined equal Level 8. Dinomorphia Brute destroys a card from both players like Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer, and Dinomorphia Shell is a Counter Trap that Special Summons a Token that redirects all the opponent's attacks toward it.

Solemn Judgment Solemn Strike Soul of the Supreme King

The Solemn Counter Traps provide powerful synergy in denying your opponent plays, and lowering your own LP as cost.

Soul of the Supreme King summons a huge monster in Supreme King Z-ARC, and if the opponent makes the unwise decision to use a Spell Card the same turn it used its first effect, it allows you to Special Summon multiple Extra Deck monsters.

Evenly Matched Ferret Flames Gozen Match Trap Trick

Ferret Flames punishes the opponent that swarmed the field with their monsters, and it gets even stronger the lower your LP is.

Evenly Matched and Gozen Match takes this one step further, with the former being able to activate their effect from the hand if you control no monsters.

Trap Trick guarantees a copy of a Trap Card will be Set on your field, but make it count; you're locked into one Trap Card activation left after this card's effect resolves.

Extra Deck Monsters

Dinomorphia Kentregina Dinomorphia Rexterm Dinomorphia Stealthbergia

These monsters can be easily brought out through the effects of Dinomorphia Domain and Dinomorphia Frenzy. If they end up destroyed by battle or card effect, they can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower "Dinomorphia" monster in its place (Level 6 for Rexterm).

Dinomorphia Kentregina loses ATK the higher your LP is, but its effect to use the effect of any "Dinomorphia" Normal Trap Card in the GY is what makes this card so crucial. I
Dinomorphia Stealthbergia frees you from using Life Points as cost for "Dinomorphia" monster or Trap effects once you're around 2000 LP or less. On top of that, it can deal effect damage to the opponent equal to the ATK of one of their Effect Monsters that used their effects.

Dinomorphia Rexterm is the key boss monster for this Deck. So long as this monster is face-up on the field, monsters they control that have ATK higher or equal to your LP cannot be activated. It can also make the monsters they control have ATK equal to your own LP, which can get dangerously low.

Supreme King Z-ARC Brave-Eyes Pendulum Dragon Starving Venom Predapower Fusion Dragon Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon

As mentioned, Supreme King Z-ARC can cheat out three boss monsters in one fell swoop with the help of Soul of the Supreme King, and your opponent activating a Spell Card after the Trap Card's first effect resolves. Brave-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Starving Venom Predapower Fusion Dragon and Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon are the best candidates because of the Trap Card's requirements.

Psychic End Punisher Evolzar Dolkka Evolzar Laggia

Psychic End Punisher can actually work with this Deck, even if that means using one of your Tuner hand traps as actual Tuner monster. It has synergy due to it gaining strength the lower your LP is.

The other two are Evolzar Xyz Monsters that works well with the Deck, because they are Dinosaur monsters like the archetype. Dolkka negates monster effects, while Laggia negates Summons or a Spell/Trap Card activation.

Core Combos and Interactions

Therizia Combo

Dinomorphia Therizia is your Deck's best Trap Card searcher, and a key component to the Deck. Make sure to take caution against your opponent having counters against this card's crucial effect.

Card(s) on Hand
Fossil Dig Dinomorphia Therizia
Step Description
1 Activate Fossil Dig search out a copy of Dinomorphia Therizia, and then Normal Summon it.
2 Activate the effect of Dinomorphia Therizia upon being Normal Summoned; Set a copy of Dinomorphia Frenzy straight from the Deck to the Field.
3 Pass the turn to your opponent.
4 As soon as you are able to during your opponent's Main Phase, activate Dinomorphia Frenzy;
after paying half your LP, using the Dinomorphia Therizia from your Field and a copy of Dinomorphia Diplos from your Deck as Materials, Fusion Summon Dinomorphia Kentregina.
5 Activate the effect of Dinomorphia Kentregina, and banish the copy of Dinomorephia Frenzy from your Graveyard;
after paying half your LP, using itself and another "Dinomorphia" monster you have in your Deck as Materials, Fusion Summon Dinomorphia Rexterm.

Supreme King Combo

Do you know your opponent might be using a Spell Card in their turn? If you have Soul of the Supreme King Set on your Field, you've just earned yourself three boss monsters!

Card(s) Needed
Soul of the Supreme King
Step Description
1 Set Soul of the Supreme King, and [red]pass to your opponent's turn.
2 Activate Soul of the Supreme King; pay half your LP to Special Summon Supreme King Z-ARC from the Extra Deck, ignoring its summoning conditions and having its effects negated.
3 Wait until the opponent activates a Spell Card during the turn.
4 Once the opponent activates a Spell Card, activate the second effect of Soul of the Supreme King while it's in the GY; banish this card from the GY and Supreme King Z-ARC from the field, and Special Summon Brave-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Starving Venom Predapower Fusion Dragon and Crystal Clear Dragon Synchro Dragon, ignoring summoning conditions.

Boss Monsters

Dinomorphia Rexterm
Dinomorphia Rexterm Dinomorphia Rexterm becomes an extremely oppressive monster the lower your own Life Points are, acting as a pseudo-Skill Drain to all the opponent's monsters--even ones that aren't on the field, so long as their ATK is higher than your own LP.
Dinomorphia Kentregina
Dinomorphia Kentregina Dinomorphia Kentregina can be considered the set-up monster, especially with another monster in Dinomorphia Rexterm. This monster gets stronger in ATK the lower your LP is, and can take on the effect of a "Dinomorphia" Trap Card as a Quick Effect after banishing said Trap Card. On top of that, it also has a floating effect to replace itself with a Level 4 "Dinomorphia" monster.
Supreme King Z-ARC
Supreme King Z-ARC A boss monster that can be cheated out wthrough Soul of the Supreme King, Supreme King Z-ARC is by far the strongest monster in the Extra Deck in terms of stats. However, its summon is more put up as a lure, as with the help of the aforementioned Trap Card, this card is banished, and in its place multiple Extra Deck Monsters can be summoned.
Psychic End Punisher
Psychic End Punisher Psychic End Punisher actually works with this Deck due to its synergy in playstyle of getting stronger the lower your own Life Points are. It can gain ATK permanently every Battle Phase , can lower LP even more and banish a monster the opponent controls at the same time, and is completely immune to activated card effects while your LP is lower than your opponent's.

Dinomorphia Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Dinomorphia

Runick Control

Runick Top Image

If Runick Decks manage to go first against Dinomorphia players, it might prove to be a probem once they get to set up their loop of effects banishing cards straight from the Deck. If the key Trap Cards are banished before this Deck can properly game, it's basically game.

Branded Despia

Branded Despia Top Image.png

Probably one of the most even matchups, Duels against Branded Despia Decks can be become a war of attrition, all based on who has the better cards at the start of the Duel. Sometimes, Dinomorphia Decks can use the Branded Despia engine to further boost their aggressiveness with Fusion Monsters!

Spright

Master Duel - Spright Top Image.png

With how low the ATK of monsters in a Spright Deck are, a Dinomorphia player will have to play very riskily in loweirng their LP as much as possible to counter the Spright's powerful Deck Engine.

Best Cards to Tech Against Dinomorphia

Lava Golem
Lava Golem If there are two or monstersl, and your Life Points are above 3000, the opponent's monsters--especially Dinomorphia Rexterm will be prone to being tributed to summon Lava Golem on their side of the field.
Jinzo
Jinzo So long as Jinzo is face-up on the Field, all Trap Cards are negated, and face-down Trap Cards cannot be activated. Though, the monsters can be destroyed by battle, and Jinzo doesn't have a lot of ATK for a Level 7 monster.
D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga
D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga negates every other card on the field as soon as this card is Xyz Summoned. This card is especially dangerous on Decks that can utilize Rank-Up-Magic Spell Cards, allowing Decks that don't normally run this monster's archetype to bring this card along as a boss monster.
Royal Decree
Royal Decree As the Deck is heavily reliant on Trap Cards, Royal Decree can shut down the Deck even before it can go off--provided, the Deck hasn't been able to properly set up key monsters and counters on the field already.
