Pendulum Magician Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Pendulum Magician is an archetype of Spellcaster Pendulum Monsters with Attributes mostly comprised of Dark Monsters. Pendulum Magicians are used in conjunction with the Perfomapal archetype as well.

Its playstyle is focused on creating strong Turn 1 tempo by swarming the field with multiple Pendulum Monsters that later on be used as material for different Summoning methods.

Wisdom-Eye Magician is the Scale Controller of the Deck as it can adapt well to the hand cards you have to create perfect Pendulum Scales.

Harmonizing Magician lets you swarm the field more efficiently as it can summon a monster from the Deck when it is Pendulum Summoned from hand, it is also a Tuner that opens up for more Synchro Combo plays.

Double Iris Magician is the Deck's main Destroy target as it searches the deck for a strong Spell/Trap once it is destroyed by any means.

Performapal Skullcrobat Joker is the deck's best Normal Summon target as it lets you add any Magician Pendulum from your deck to hand.

Black Fang Magician is the deck's way of recovery as it lets you revive any Dark Spellcaster in the Graveyard, commonly targeting Astrograph Sorcerer to recycle it if it was sent to the Graveyard.

Purple Poison Magician acts as the main disruptor of the deck especially when paired with Time Pendulumgraph as it can easily clear the opponent's board with its effect.

Dragonpit Magician has 2 roles: to remove the back row when used as a Pendulum Scale, and as Xyz Material for Rank 7 plays.

Oafdragon Magician is a low-scale card and can also recycle cards from the faceup Extra Deck back to hand.

Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser can be used as a high-scale or a free body on the board when used as a combo starter.

Step	Description
1	Scale Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser then Special Summon it using its effect.
2	Scale Wisdom-Eye Magician and Double Iris Magician then activate Wisdom-Eye's effect to replace itself with Oafdragon Magician.
3	Normal Summon the second Curtain Raiser from hand. Then Link Summon Heavymetalfoes Electrumite uising the 2 Curtain Raisers as materials. Activate Electrumite's on-summon effect to send Astrograph Sorcerer from the Deck to faceup Extra Deck.
4	Activate Electrumite's effect by destroying Double Iris to add Astrograph Sorcrerer from the Extra Deck to hand.
5	Multiple Effects will form a chain, Chain Link 1 Electrumite, Chain Link 2, Double Iris, Chain Link 3 Astrograph Sorcerer. Resolution: Astrograph Sorcerer adds Wisdom-Eye. Double-Iris adds Star Pendulumgraph. Electrumite lets you draw 1 card.
6	Activate Star Pendulumgraph and Scale Wisdom-Eye. Then Link Summon Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians. Selene will have 3 Spell Counters upon Summon.
7	Activate Wisdom-Eye's effect to replace itself with a High-Scale Pendulum Monster from the Deck. Black Fang Magician or Double Iris Magician will work for this combo. Star Pendulumgraph will then activate its effect which lets you add Harmonizing Magician from the deck to hand.
8	Pendulum Summon Astrograph Sorcerer, Wisdom-Eye Magician, and Double Iris Magician from the Extra Deck and Harmonizing Magician from hand. Activate Harmonizing Magician's effect to Special Summon Dragonpit Magician from the Deck.
9	Overlay Astrograph Sorcerer and Dragonpit Magician to Xyz Summon Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon. Activate Selene's effect to Special Summon 1 Spellcaster from hand. For this Combo. let us use Purple Poison Magician.
10	Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess using Selene and Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon as materials. Absolute Dragon's effect will then activate to Special Summon Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon from the Extra Deck.
11	Synchro Summon Borreload Savage Dragon using Harmonizing Magician and Purple Poison Magician as materials. Borreload Savage Dragon will then equip Selene from the Graveyard using its effect.
12	Overlay Double Iris Magician and Wisdom-Eye to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller.
13	Activate Oafdragon Magician's Pendulum Effect to add back Harmonizing Magician from faceup Extra Deck to hand.

Notes:
The premise of the combo is to have as many Pendulum Monsters in the hand as possible to swarm the field effectively.

Destroying Double Iris Magician multiple times in the same turn is essential as it can add both the Spells and Traps with its effect.

In Step 12, any Rank 4 Monster is fine, depending on the current meta.

Alternative Options

Darkwurm Engine

The Darkwurm Engine utilizes the Supreme King Monsters for easy access on Pendulum Scales or just a free body on the field.

Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm can Special Summon itself from the Graveyard while also searching for the other Supreme King card.

Supreme King Gate Zero is Darkwurm's target. It has a low-scale of 0.

Odd-Eyes Revolution Dragon can discard itself to search for any Level 8 or lower Pendulum Monster. Darkwurm can easily be searched by this.

Dragon Shrine's similar to Foolish Burial, you use it to send Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm to the Graveyard.

	Nibiru, the Primal Being
	When users of a Pendulum decks begin their summoning spree, you can quickly tribute as many face-up monsters on the field, and summon this onto your opponent's field. This will quickly disrupt them from doing any more summons or even stopping them from completing their Pendulum Summons & eventually, their Fusion Summons.
	Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion
	Once Anti-Spell Fragrance resolves, there's no way for any Pendulum-reliant deck to scale their Pendulum Cards, thus shutting down an entire mechanic with just a single floodgate.
	Summon Limit
	A trap card that limits the summon of both parties to a maximum of two times per turn. This will quickly put a halt to chaining Summons that Pendulum users do to quickly bring out perform their OTKs.
	Droll & Lock Bird
	The deck relies on multiple deck searching, getting strucked by Droll & Lock Bird will greatly reduce the tempo of Pendulums.
