Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel expands on the great and engaging system built upon the original card game. If you're a player looking to start their journey, read on and learn the answers to several FAQs about the game in this guide!
List of Contents
Unfortunately, there is no direct way of communicating with players encountered in Duels throughout the game. Outside of using 3rd party platforms to communicate, players will be unable to interact with one another outside of a Duel setup.
The various accessories that players can both earn as rewards and buy from the in-game store do not have any bearing on the gameplay throughout Master Duel. These items serve simply as cosmetic pieces that players can use to customize the look of certain attributes in the game, giving them a more personalized environment in which they can work with on securing victories in duels.
Gems in-game are classified in one of two ways: "Free Gems", which are earned through gameplay, and "Paid Gems", which are bought and paid for using real currency in the store. Free Gems are, by default, limited to a hard cap of 10,000 while Paid Gems can be bought and stored without limitations.
Players who play many duels or play through the Solo Mode but do not earn any Gems will need to first spend the 10,000 limited Free Gems in order to gain more from in-game methods.
The Duel Pass is Master Duel's form of a Battle Pass system, rewarding the players with various bonuses. These passes are bought in-game through the in-game currency of Gems – there are various methods of earning gems, including payment of real currency and through in-game play that will allow players to farm adequate amounts of Gems making it friendly for Free-to-Play players.
Although the mobile version of Master Duel is planned to be released sometime in the future, there are currently no announced released dates for the app. Players who have begun their battles on other platforms will not have to fear about having a new experience on mobile – cross-progression is allowed in-game, allowing players to dynamically move their data from platform to platform.

Secret Packs are unique card packs separate from Structure Decks. These packs are more focused packs that revolve around a central theme, archetype, or strategies that players can use to conquer opponents in duels.
Although a refresher is unneeded for many veteran duelist, it is recommended still for players seeking a new start in Master Duel to play through the entirety of Solo Mode. Each chapter in every gate of Solo Mode rewards players with various types of gifts including, but not limited to: new cards, Gems, accessories, and sometimes even short trial periods with Decks due to what are called Loaner Decks.
It will take some time to go through all of the Gates in Solo Mode, but accomplishing each and every one of them provides players with healthy rewards that they can use to jumpstart themselves as a new duelist in Master Duel. Solo Mode is the single good source for high amounts of Gems, essential game information that is tutorialized, and short trials with certain Decks that can help build a player's familiarity with the game.
Solo Mode Guide: Best Routes to Progress
There are three primary methods that players can use to gain new cards to add to their Deck – playing through Solo Mode, Purchasing them from the Shop, or by Card Crafting. Any of these three methods can help players to get better cards than the ones that they start with, allowing them to customize their Decks early on in the game before they even step foot into Duel Mode.
Master Duel, like many other Yu-Gi-Oh titles, is an incredibly nuanced game filled with many mechanics and information. With new systems added in place in Master Duel that allows players to customize their experience, questions may arise that are difficult to get answers to.
