Tri-Brigade decks come in many flavors but the objective is all the same. Using the abilities of the Tri-Brigade Effect monsters to fill the graveyard with Beast, Beast-Warrior, and Winged-Beasts in order to Link Summon using the graveyard instead of the battlefield.
Then lockdown the opponent by summoning Monsters with Negate effects to interrupt their key cards and combos, then beat them down to 0 as fast as possible, usually in one turn.
Barring excessive disruption, Pure Tri-Brigade will often win on the first turn it can attack with an ATK boosted Accesscode Talker and Shuraig. This combination will deal 8000 direct damage after clearing the board with both Accesscode's and Shuraig's effects and Apollousa providing monster effect negate insurance. Shuraig's Effect is especially potent since it can banish any one card without targeting which allows it to get around most boss monster indestructibility.
If you're going first then the ideal start is to end your turn with at least Apollousa on the field and Tri-Brigade Revolt Set. Apollousa will negate pesky Monster effects, and Tri-Brigade Revolt will summon Shuraig on the opponents turn to banish a card from their field.
1 | Fracktall Opening: Use Fraktall's effect to put Kitt in the GY, then Kitt's effect to put Nervall into the GY. Grab Kerass or another Fraktall from Nervall's GY effect. Rescue Cat Opening: Use Rescue Cat's effect to SP Summon Kitt and Kerass to the field. |
2 | Normal Summon a Tri-Brigade Monster. Activate Effect & Link 2 Summon Ferrijit. Tribute Kitt and Keras to Link 2 Summon Ferrijit normally. |
---|---|
Tip! | Fire Formation -Tenki can fetch a Fraktall from your deck if you don't start with one or a Rescue Cat in your opening hand. |
---|
3 | Ferrijit's effect to SP summon a new Tri-Brigade from hand. Tribute Ferrijit & old Tri-Brigade to Link 2 Summon Bearbrumm. Use new Tri-Brigade effect to do any Link 2 Summon. Ferrijit's effect to SP summon a Tri-Brigade from hand. Activate Tri-Brigade effect to Link 2 Summon Bearbrumm. |
---|---|
4 | Link 3 Summon Apollousa using all 3 Monsters on field. Bearbrumm's GY effect fetches Revolt to hand then Set. |
Always Link Summon Apollousa with 3 Monsters where possible. The more monsters linked away the more negates she can fire off on the opponents turn. Its ok if Apollousa is attacked and destroyed if her ATK reaches 0! Her purpose is to disrupt the opponent along with any hand traps you may have.
Tip! | Be careful of your hand size as Ferrijit's and Bearbrumm's GY ability makes you put a card from your hand back into the deck after drawing a card. |
---|
1 | Activate Revolt on Opponents turn taking all possible monsters from banish. Summon Shuraig & banish effect if necessary. |
---|---|
2 | On Your turn: Summon a Tri-Brigade Monster, activate effect, Link 3 Summon Rugal. Shuraig's banish effect triggers, use if necessary. |
3 | Link 4 Summon Accesscode Talker, then boost its ATK by 2300 from Rugal |
4 | Delete Opponent's board with Accesscode Talker's Effect if necessary. |
5 | Attack with Accesscode Talker and Shuraig for 8000 Damage. GG |
If you are going second, or your opponent has managed to set up a formidible board then its fairly easy to Summon Divine Arsenal AA Zeus - Sky Thunder to clean up the board.
1 | On Main Phase 1 Normally or with Rescue Cat's effect XYZ Summon Centaurea using Kitt and Kerass as Tribute. |
---|---|
2 | Attack with Centaurea into the OPs monster. Only use Centaurea's effect if absolutely necessary as you want to preserve the XYZ material. |
3 | Move to Main Phase 2, XYZ Summon Downerd Magician. Then XYZ Summon Zeus and wipe the board with its effect. |
If you didn't use Centaurea's ability Zeus should have 4 XYZ materials allowing for 2 board wipe activations.
Tip! | It may beneficial to summon Zeus in DEF mode to dodge a follow up Raigeki or Lightning Storm. |
---|
Link Summoning Salamangreat Almiraj can either be to protect one of your Boss Mosters OR to help to put cards in the GY if your opening draw was poor.
If your opening hand contains only a single Tri-Brigade Kitt or Tri-Brigade Nervall and no other relevant combo enablers like Tenki or Draw Spells like Pot of Extravagance then:
1 | Normal Summon Kitt or Nervall. Then Link 1 Summon Almiraj |
---|---|
2 | If Kitt is tributed then use the GY effect for Nervall, then use Nerval's GY effect to fetch a Kerass or Fraktall to hand. If Nervall is tributed Then use the GY ability to fetch Kerass to hand. |
Starting with only a single Nervall and no enablers is probably the worst opening hand if you go first. Link Summoning Almiraj will only put 1 Tri-Brigade Monster in the GY for the next turn, however chances are the rest of your cards are all hand traps meaning you should be able to weather your opponent's turn and try again the following turn.
Getting Apollousa out asap is key to stoping your opponent's combos and effects on their turn! Make sure you've used at least 3 Link Materials when summoning to get up to 3 monster effect negates! |
An unimpeded Accesscode Talker either wins the game, destroys every card on the opponents field, or both! |
These Monsters are useful for sending pesky cards back to the opponents hand or removing key cards from their Graveyard. |
Borrelsword Dragon is a back up beater if your combo has been severely interrupted, or are running out of gas to either pressure the opponent or close the game. |

One of the premier control decks if the Master Duel meta, Eldlich does almost nothing but negate effects monsters and destroy creatures. An early torrential tribute will clear the board of any combo pieces and force either a Zeus to clear Eldlich's back row if the effect resolves, or start the combo over fresh.
Using Shuraig to banish the two to three copy of Eldlich is usually the way out, however few monster effects survive the trap heavy playstyle.
An equally combo heavy deck with control elements Sky Strikers can quickly and easily steal your best monsters and tribute them for their own gain.
An arguably stronger version of the Pure Tri-Bridgae deck. Lyrilusc's initial board set up mean to lock down the opponent much harder than the pure version making it hell to banish their key monsters with Shuraig.
Counters | Effects |
---|---|
Dimension Shifter | Shuts down the combo on turn 1 by banishing any cards sent to the GY. |
Dimensional Barrier | Shuts down Link and XYZ Summons as well as monster effects |
Mystic Mine | This field spell negates the opening Tri-Brigade board state. |
Effect Veiler | Staple hand trap. Use on Fraktall's discard ability, Tri-Brigade Link Summon or Rescue Cat. |
Infinite Impermanence | Staple hand trap. Similar use to Effect Veiler |
Skill Drain | Shuts down all monster effects |
