XYZ-Hyper Dragon Cannon | |
---|---|
![]() |
XYZ-Hyper Dragon Cannon is the newest boss monsters among the Union sub-archetypes. It has card destruction for a quick effect, and can Special Summon the Fusion Materials for a listed Level 8 LIGHT Machine-type Fusion Monster. This effect is best used in tandem with its fellow Union Fusion Monster, ABC-Dragon Buster. |
ABC-Dragon Buster | |
![]() |
ABC-Dragon Buster is the more crucial boss monster to summon, so much so that this card is at 2 copies instead of 1 in the Deck Recipe. For its quick effect, it can banish a card off the field. Also unique as a Union Fusion, this card can tribute itself to Special Summon three different LIGHT Machine-type Union monsters in the Banishment. |
Cyber Dragon Infinity | |
![]() |
Cyber Dragon Infinity can be cheated out with the help of using Cyber Dragon Nova as its overlaying material. This monster might be the only source of negation in the entire Deck Recipe outside of Infinite Impermanence, being able to negate Spell Cards and absorb them as part of material. |
Knightmare Gryphon | |
![]() |
Knightmare Gryphon was banned for a long time in Master Duel for a reason. It can Set Spell/Trap Cards from the GY once per turn, and if this card is co-linked when this effect resovles, it also grants a draw. On top of that, Special Summoned monsters on both sides cannot activate effects unless they are Linked. |
What makes Cyber Dragon so innately strong against any Deck that heavily uses Machine-type monsters, ABC-XYZ monsters included, is the fact that its got Fusion Monsters that can make use of their opponent's monsters on the field as material.
One copy of any monster that takes the name of Cyber Dragon can whisk away all Machine-type monster for Chimeratech Fortress Dragon or even Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon.
All it takes for one Duelist is one bad day for them to run an Anti-Meta Stun Deck. This recipe is loaded with traps, floodgates and interruptions to grind the game down to a halt, until the opponent cannot play their own strategy.
Monsters like Fairy Tail - Luna and Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo; Spells like Moon Mirror Shield and Clockwork Night; Traps like Macro Cosmos and Crackdown; all of these will interrupt a game plan one way or another.
A good starting hand from Yubel can mess around with the ABC-XYZ's strategy, and can even take advantage of some of their effects. The card destruction effect from ABC-Dragon Buster might benefit the Yubel mosnters if they get destroyed, and Banishment does not matter due to the lingering effect of Nightmare Throne ready to retrieve them back.
This is especially dangerous if the Quick Effects were expended way before they can deal with Nightmare Pain. Crashing to the Deck's boss monsters using two or three different Yubels is already a game over.
The best Deck in the current format, Fiendsmith Snake-Eyes Azamina is far more combo-intensive compared to the ABC-XYZ Deck. Their end boards are enough to win games due to multiple negates set up, and various interruptions that can mess with this Deck's game plan.
Silvera, Wolf Tamer of the White Forest flips all the opponent's monsters face-down, and provides double piercing battle damage. Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon can force a monster to be placed in the Spell/Trap Zone. Azamina Sol Erysichthon sends a card on the field to the GY for free on Fusion Summon. Fiendsmith's Desirae can negate multiple cards in one sitting. So many options are available to them, it is too overwhelming for the ABC-XYZ Deck to deal with.
