Pegasus' Toon Kingdom Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Pegasus' Toon Kingdom Deck is one for the fans of the anime.

Taking a page from Pegasus' book, this Toon Deck is filled with monsters made seemingly indestructible using the new Spell Card Toon Kingdom, and using them to directly attack your opponent, quickly reducing their LP to 0.

Toon World

Before anything else, you'll need Toon World out onto your field. If you're unlucky and don't have Toon World or Toon Kingdom in your hand at the start of the duel, the deck should help you out by giving you a chance to open with it.**

Spells like Toon Table of Contents, Toon Bookmark, or even Terraforming can help you with that regard. Use one of them and get Toon World or Toon Kingdom onto your hand and cast the field spell.

Toon World vs Toon Kingdom

An argument can be made regarding which one to use. Between Toon World and Toon Kingdom, the latter is definitely the better choice.

Using Toon Kingdom in lieu of Toon World gives you the added effect of protecting your Toon monsters from all card effects. And, if a Toon Monster you control is destroyed by either battle or card effect, you can banish 1 card from the top of your deck face down to negate their destruction.

But, do note that Toon World is still better than having neither card in your hand at the start of the Duel.

Assemble Your Attackers

You can quickly get Red-Eyes Toon Dragon and Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon onto the field using The Black Stone of Legend. If you're starting second, you can immediately Special Summon Toon Cyber Dragon if your opponent has a monster on their field as long as you don't have any monsters on yours.

Having either Red-Eyes Toon Dragon or Toon Black Magician on the field will let you Special Summon a Toon Monster from your hand ignoring their Summoning conditions. This is perfect if you have one or two copies of Toon Black Luster Soldier in your hand, or a Toon Dark Magician Girl, as unlike other Toon Monsters, you won't have to wait a turn before they can attack, while Toon Black Luster Soldier gives you the added effect of being able to banish one card of your choosing off the field once per turn.

Defending

This deck uses two types of Toon Traps -- Toon Briefcase and Toon Terror.

Toon Briefcase is a good summon negation trap that forces your opponent to shuffle their just summoned monster back into their deck.

Toon Terror on the other hand is a very good negation trap that you can use to counter any Spell, Trap, or monster effect, negating it and banishing them in the process.

You can easily get these traps using Toon Black Magician's effect to add one Toon Spell or Trap Card into your hand.

Reliquished

There are two Reliquished monstes in your Extra Deck that may be helpful in defeating your opponent.

Thousand-Eyes Restrict and Millennium-Eyes Restrict are nice monsters to have to help further limit your opponent's actions.

Thousand-Eyes Restrict locks your opponent's monsters in place, stopping them from changing their battle position and attacking.

Millennium-Eyes Restrict on the other hand can stop any pesky cards that you know your opponent has multiple copies of such as Alternative Blue-Eyes White Dragon, or any other nasty or annoying Effect Monsters. Millennium-Eyes Restrict can target an Effect Monster in either your opponent's field or in their GY and monsters with the equipped monster's namecannot attack while also having thier effects on the field negated.

You can easily summon either one with Instant Fusion or fusing them with your Relinquished Anima by using a spare The Black Stone of Legend as link material.

Ending the Match

Now, with your field full of Toon Monsters, and your opponent's hand pretty much tied, you can directly attack your opponent and watch their LP whittle down to 0.

Core Combos and Interactions

Toon Kingdom

Toon Table of Contents ImageToon Table of Contents Toon Bookmark ImageToon Bookmark Terraforming ImageTerraforming Toon Kingdom ImageToon Kingdom

Spells like Toon Table of Contents, Toon Bookmark, or even Terraforming can help get the necessary field spell you need to start your turn. Use any one of the three options to get Toon Kingdom onto your hand and cast the field spell.

Special Summoning Chain

Toon Table of Contents ImageToon Table of Contents The Black Stone of Legend ImageThe Black Stone of Legend Red-Eyes Toon Dragon ImageRed-Eyes Toon Dragon

Here's a good combo to quickly get at least 2 Toon Monsters quickly onto the field.

If you have The Black Stone of Legend, and Toon Table of Contents in your hand, use Toon Table of Contents to get one of these Toon Monster cards in your hand

  • Toon Dark Magician
  • Toon Dark Magician Girl
  • Toon Black Luster Soldier

Now, summon The Back stone of Legend, and tribute it to Special Summon a Red-Eyes Toon Dragon from your deck.

Use its effect to Special Summon one of the three onto the field.

Choosing Toon Dark Magician will let you Special Summon another Toon Monster from your hand, perfect if you already have a, Toon Dark Magician Girl or Toon Black Luster Soldier in your hand.

Choosing either Toon Dark Magician Girl or Toon Black Luster Soldier will let you attack immediately during your Battle Phase unlike other monsters where you'll have to wait a turn. Summoning Toon Black Luster Solder gives you an additional ability to banish any card on the field. However using that effect will stop your Toon Black Luster Soldier from attacking that turn.

Best Cards to Tech Against Dark Magician

Royal Decree
Royal Decree A card that seals the effects of any and all Trap Cards, limiting the options of your opponent for summoning Dark Magician. But a double edge sword since you won't be able to use any other trap cards as well.
Imperial Order
Imperial Order This basically nullifies all Spell effects on the field. Again, limiting the options your opponent has in summoning Dark Magicians onto the field. However, you will need to pay an upkeep of 700 LP every Standby Phase or else the card will be destroyed.
Twin Twisters
Twin Twisters For a simple quick fix, using Twin Twisters will help you get rid of 2 spells/traps on the field at the cost of discarding 1 card.
Prohibition
Prohibition Basically naming a card like Dark Magical Circle, Eternal Soul will stop them from working moving forward. Though they won't work on cards already on the field, you can quickly get rid of those using something like Twin Twisters.

Limit the Use of Spells and Traps

Toon Decks rely on using Toon World as a means to directly attack the opponent leaving you open to attacks.

Getting rid of Toon World or negating its effects will stop them from directly attacking you, even causing a number of their monsters to be immediately be destroyed.

Instant fusion and terraforming are banned. What cards can i use for replacement

Hi there, your article references Black Stone of Legend bringing out Blue Eyes Room Dragon, however Black Stone only works on Red Eyes. I'd also look over your countering section as it seems cut and pasted from the Dark Magician deck
