Raidraptor Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Master Duel - Raidraptor

Raidraptors are an archetype that focuses on Xyz Monsters, and are one of the rare few Xyz-based archetypes that are able to Rank-Up into even stronger Xyz Monsters.

While not as heavy with Special Summons and as strong in the start of a combo, Raidraptor Decks do have very quick combos that can surprise the player even on turn 1. Players must pay attention on what they have on the field, and what else can be brought out from the Extra Deck.

Raidraptor Monsters

Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius.PNG Raidraptor - Pain Lanius.png Raidraptor - Singing Lanius.PNG Raidraptor - Last Strix.png

The Main Deck Monsters of the Raidraptor Deck have very synergistic swarm effects, all towards the goal of getting the strong monsters out on the field as fast as possible through Xyz Summoning. A good thing to note is that the effects are activatable on the turn they are Normal or Special Summoned, meaning you can control when the effects can be used, so long as it is still the turn they were summoned.

Notable among the monsters in the Deck include Vanishing Lanius which has an in-built Double Summon effect and lets you Special Summon another Level 4 or lower Raidraptor from the hand, Singing Lanius which can be Special Summoned from the hand if there is a face-up Xyz Monster on the field, and Pain Lanius which copies the Level of a Raidraptor monster on the field.

Raidraptor - Last Strix acts as a cheat code that speeds up a play, as after tributing itself from the field, it Special Summons a Raidraptor Xyz Monster from the Extra Deck with its effects negated, regardless of summoning conditions. The Xyz Monster that was brought out can be used with Rank-Up-Magic, so long as it meets the conditions met.

Rank-Up Magic

The Phantom Knights Rank-Up-Magic Revolution Force.png Phantom Knights Rank Up Magic Skip Force.png Rank Up Magic Soul Shave Force.png

Even more important in a Raidraptor Deck are the Rank-Up-Magic Spell Cards, which uses an Xyz Monster to Special Summon another Xyz Monster with a higher Rank. Depending on the effect, the raise in Rank could be either one or two levels, and there is even one card that can summon an Xyz Monster double the Rank than what was used as material.

Raidraptors have their own line of Rank-Up-Magic Spell Cards, like Rank-Up-Magic Skip Force, Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force and Rank-Up-Magic Revolution Force to assist the Deck in climbing their Xyz Monsters. There are also a couple of Phantom Knights Rank-Up-Magic Spell Cards that synergize with the Deck like The Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Launch and Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Force, giving them options to Xyz Monsters outside of the Raidraptor archetype.

Core Combos and Interactions

Which Rank-Up-Magic To Use

Each of the Rank-Up-Magic Spell Cards have their own distinct requirements and restrictions, but all of them have the same goal in summoning a higher-ranked Xyz monster. There are five key cards this Deck Recipe uses, and each one is key

Raidraptor - Force Strix
No materials
The Phantom Knights
Banish 1 GY monster
Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon.png

The Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Launch Ranks up a DARK Xyz Monster to another DARK Xyz Monster that is one Rank higher. This is a Quick-Play Spell, and can be used during the opponent's Main Phase. This can prevent the monster from targeted effects, and bring out an even stronger monster instead.

The requirement is that the DARK Xyz Monster must have no materials attached. For example, after using the effect of Raidraptor - Force Strix which detaches its two materials, it can Rank-Up into Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon using this Quick-Play Spell on either player's turn.

Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon.PNG Rank Up Magic Skip Force.png Raidraptor - Satellite Cannon Falcon.jpg

Rank-Up-Magic Skip Force can only be used on a Raidraptor Xyz Monster, but instead of one Rank it can Xyz Summon a Raidraptor monster that is two Ranks higher instead. It also has a notable effect where it can be used to revive a Raidraptor Xyz monster from the Graveyard when this card is in there.

For example, say you control a Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon, which is a Rank 6 Xyz Monster. Using Rank-Up-Magic Skip Force, you get to Xyz Summon a Rank 8 Raidraptor Xyz Monster, which happens to be Raidraptor - Satellite Cannon Falcon.

Gems Tip! Keep in mind the Rank of the Xyz Monster you are using as material! As of writing, there are no Raidraptor Xyz Monsters that are Rank 9 or Rank 11. This also means you cannot use Rank-Up-Magic Skip Force on Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon due to a lack of a Rank 9 Raidraptor Xyz Monster.
Raidraptor - Force Strix.PNG Rank Up Magic Soul Shave Force.png Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon.PNG

Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force is similar to Skip Force in Ranking-Up a Raidraptor Xyz Monster into an Xyz Monster two Ranks higher, but the Raidraptor Xyz Monster has to come from the Graveyard. However, you can use this to Rank-Up into a non-Raidraptor monster. Be careful when using this; activating this card needs half the Life Points as a cost.

As an example, say there is a copy of Raidraptor - Force Strix in the Graveyard. Activate Soul Shave Force and pay half the Life Points to Special Summon it back from the Graveyard, then immediately use it as Material to Xyz Summon a Rank 6 Xyz Monster: Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon.

Raider Raidraptor - Stranger Falcon.png Rank-Up-Magic Revolution Force.png Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon.PNG

Rank-Up-Magic Revolution Force is a Quick-Play Spell that can be used to Rank-Up a Raidraptor Monster by 1 Rank. It is the simplest Rank-Up-Magic to date as seen in the first chart where a Raider's Knight that used its effect is Ranked-Up into Raidraptor - Stranger Falcon. Then, after activating Revolution Force, it is then Ranked-Up into Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon

Cyber Dragon Nova.png
Opponent's, no attached materials
Rank-Up-Magic Revolution Force.png Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon.PNG

However, it is the second effect that makes this good, as when the opponent controls an Xyz Mosnter with no materials, this card takes control of it, and immediately uses it as Xyz Material into a Raidraptor Xyz Monster 1 Rank higher. Say, if the opponent somehow controls a Cyber Dragon Nova with no materials; activating Revolution Force steals it and uses it as Material into Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon.

Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon.jpg
Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius.PNG Raidraptor - Pain Lanius.png Raidraptor - Singing Lanius.PNG
Banished from Graveyard
Phantom Knights
Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon.png

Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Force can be considered a last-resort Rank-Up-Magic. This involves having the right amount of cards of DARK monsters in the Graveyard to banish, alongside a base Xyz Monster to use as material on the field. The number of monsters you have to banish, must make up the gap between the Xyz Monster used as Material to the Xyz Monster that is about to be summoned.

For example, there is a Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon on your side of the field. After activating this card, declare that you will banish three Raidraptor monsters from the Graveyard, then target Arsenal Falcon to be Material--which is a Rank 7 Xyz Monsnster. Rank 7, plus the three Banished monsters, makes for Rank 10 Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon.

Arsenal Falcon and Ultimate Falcon in One Combo

Arsenal Falcon and Ultimate Falcon are two of the most important monsters within the Raidraptor Deck; getting them out as soon as possible are imperative. This key combo is one of the shortest ways to get three Xyz Monsters out on the field in one turn, including both Raidraptor boss monsters.

1 Normal Summon Raidraptor - Mimicry Lanius, and immediately activate its effect to increase its Level by 1.
2 Activate Raidraptor - Pain Langius from the hand, target the now-Level 5 Raidraptor - Mimicry Langius you control, Special Summon this card and have its Level changed to Level 5.
Gems Tip! You can replicate this initial start by using Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius instead of Raidraptor - Pain Langius.
Normal Summon Vanishing Lanius, activate its effect, Special Summon Raidraptor - Mimicry Langius, and use its effect as well, to make both monsters Level 5.
3 Using the Level 5 Raidraptor - Tribute Lanius and Level 5 Raidraptor - Pain Lanius, Xyz Summon Raidraptor - Stranger Falcon.
4 Activate Rank-Up-Magic Skip Force, target Raidraptor - Stranger Falcon, use that card and its attached materials as Materials to Xyz Summon Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon.
5 Activate Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon's effect, detach Raidraptor - Mimicry Lanius, and Special Summon Raidraptor - Tribute Langius. Activate its ability next, and send a copy of Raidraptor - Fuzzy Lanius from the Deck to the Graveyard.**
6 Because Raidraptor - Mimicry Langius was sent to the Graveyard, activate its effect, and search out a copy of Raidraptor - Nest to the hand.
8 Activate the effect of Raidraptor - Tribute Langius next, and send a copy of Raidraptor - Fuzzy Lanius from the Deck to the Graveyard.
9 Because Raidraptor - Fuzzy Langius was sent to the Graveyard, activate its effect, and add another copy of Raidraptor - Fuzzy Lanius from the Deck to the hand.
10 As you control a Raidraptor monster, Special Summon the newly-searched Raidraptor - Fuzzy Lanius from the hand.
11 Using Tribute Lanius and Fuzzy Lanius as materials, Xyz Summon Raidraptor - Force Strix; activate its effect afterwards, detaching a material, then search out a copy of Raidraptor - Singing Lanius from the Deck to the hand.
11 Because you control an Xyz Monster, you can Special Summon Raidraptor - Singing Lanius from the hand.
12 Activate Cattle Call, tribute Raidraptor - Singing Lanius as cost, then Special Summon Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon - Airraid frfom the Extra Deck, ignoring its summoning conditions and having its effects negated.
13 Activate Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Force, banish 4 DARK monsters your the Graveyard (your Raidraptor monsters), then target Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon - Airraid as Material to Xyz Summon Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon.

Easy Ultimate Falcon

This combo is the easiest way to bring out the hard-to-remove Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon. All you need are three cards on hand and one in the Extra Deck.

1 There has to be a Raidraptor - Last Strix on your field during the turn.
2 Activate Last Strix's effect, tribute itself, then Special Summon Raidraptor - Satellite Cannon Falcon from the Extra Deck, regardless of summoning conditions, and having its effects negated.
3 Activate Rank-Up-Magic - Skip Force, targetting Raidraptor - Satellite Cannon Falcon, use the card as material and Xyz Summon Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon.

Force Strix into Cyber Dragon Infinity

Potentially, this combo should be able to bring out either variation of Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon, but because of Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force, you can use this combo for Cyber Dragon Infinity instead. An important requirement is that you need to have Soul Shave Force in the Graveyard for this combo to work.

1 Normal Summon Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius; activate its effect, and Special Summon Raidraptor - Necro Vulture from the hand.
2 Activate the effect of Raidraptor - Pain Lanius from the hand as you control a Raidraptor monster; target the Necro Vulture on your field, pay Life Points equal to its lowest stat (ATK, in this case) and Special Summon itself, copying the level of Necro Vulture.
3 Using Vanishing Lanius and Pain Lanius as materials, Xyz Summon Raidraptor - Force Strix; activate its effect, and search out a copy of a Raidraptor monster that you need for another combo from the Deck to the hand.
4 Activate the effect of Raidraptor - Necro Vulture, tribute Raidraptor - Force Strix, then add a copy of Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force.
5 Activate the newly-added Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force, target the Raidraptor - Force Strix you just tributed in the Graveyard, then use it as material to Xyz Summon Cyber Dragon Infinity.

Boss Monsters

Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon
Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon.png The most famous among the "Raidraptor" Xyz Monsters, this card has an extremely strong effect where not only is this card immune to all other card effects, after detaching 1 Xyz Material, the opponent cannot activate any card or effect for the rest of the turn on top of having their monsters have 1000 ATK reduced. Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon also burns the opponent for 1000 at every End Phase, further applying pressure to the opponent.
Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon
Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon.jpg Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon is an Xyz Monster that makes summoning the higher-Ranked Xyz Monsters a lot easier through punishing the opponent. One of its effects lets you Special Summon a Level 4 "Raidraptor" monster straight from the Deck onto the field, and can attack as many times as the number of materials attached to this card. Most dangerously, this card has a floating effect that Special Summons a "Raidraptor" Xyz Monster, regardless or Rank, whenever this monster is destroyed and is sent to the Graveyard.
Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon
Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon.png Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon can be easily brought out through The Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Launch, and one of the Rank 4 Xyz Monsters in the Extra Deck. When brought out through Rank-Up or through traditional Xyz Summoning, this card enjoys a blanket immunity from card effects. Additionally, this card can gain massive ATK through its effect, and if it has a DARK Xyz Monster as material, it negates all Effect Monsters for the rest of the turn.

Lower Rarity Replacements

SR/UR Replacements
Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon.png Inzektor ExaStag.png Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon.PNG

If Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon is out of reach while building the Deck, consider running Inzektor Exa-Stag, which can grab a monster from the opponent's Graveyard and use them as an Equip Card to make itself stronger. Another option is Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon, which makes for an excellent punish against swarm combo Decks if nothing can negate its effect.

Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon.jpg Number 76 Harmonizer Gradielle.PNG

Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon is very essential for this Deck to get Ultimate Falcon out quickly that the Extra Deck runs two copies of it. You can trade out one copy for a different Rank 7 Xyz Monster. More affordable options include Number 76: Harmonizer Gradielle for their ability to change attribute and be immune to battle or effects against similar attributed monsters.

Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel - D D D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga.png Hieratic Sky Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis.png Aegaion the Sea Castrum.jpg

D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga is an amazing Rank 8 Xyz Monster option because of its ability to negate all effects on the field as soon as it is Xyz Summoned. If the card is not accessible yet, consider a copy of Hieratic Sky Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis for an omni-negate against all targeting effects. Another card woth considering is Aegaion the Sea Castrum which punishes the opponent for even having an Extra Deck.

Raidraptor Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Raidraptor

Kaijus
Gameciel the Sea Turtle Kaiju.jpg Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon is immune to all other card effects, but its card text never said it was immune from being tributed. Kaijus can counter a combod Deck like Raidraptors very well, so long as they do not have any monster that cannot be used as Tribute fodder.
Eldlich Control
Eldlich the Golden Lord.png A recurring theme is that Raidraptors do not go well against Control Decks, and Eldlich Decks are no exception. Its floodgates are enough to stop this Deck from getting its monsters out if Eldlich goes first, and Eldlich the Golden Lord itself overpowers all but two monsters against Raidraptors.
Timelords
Sandaion the Timelord.png Another control Deck, but this time it combines its floodgates with the simple use of extremely strong monsters that are annoying to deal with as they remain on the field. A lot of the Timelord monsters can safely crash against even Ultimate Falcon and Final Fortress Falcon, and when the floodgates are activated, Raidraptors are effectively crippled.
Drytron Fairy
Drytron Meteonis Quadrantids.png There is little to no chance Raidraptors can win against Drytron if Drytron goes first in the Duel. The number of negates the Deck has in its own boss monsters like Herald of Ultimateness, which they can easily summmon in one turn, will stop Raidraptors in its tracks unless it techs in cards that can deal with a Drytron Deck's pressure.

Best Cards to Tech Against Raidraptor

Summon Limit
Summon Limit.png The whole idea for Raidraptors is to summon as much as possible in order to Xyz Summon, and then continuously Rank-Up into the strong boss monster. Summon Limit will limit the combos possible with Raidraptors, and even disable them from using their Rank-Up-Magic Spells.
Skill Drain
Skill Drain.png Skill Drain nullifies the effect of every effect monster on the field, and nearly of the Raidraptor monsters have on-field effects that are essential in being able to Xyz Summon. Activating this card essentially kills the Deck's chances to commit to a combo unless they find way to get this card off the field.
Imperial Order
Imperial Order.png As long as Imperial Order is active on the field, Spell Cards are automatically negated. This also means that the Raidraptors cannot Rank-Up their Xyz Monsters at all as long as the card remains on the field, which can be game-ending if the player does not run any back-row clearing Traps.
Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju
Gameciel the Sea Turtle Kaiju.jpg Should the Raidraptor Deck manage to get Ultimate Falcon or a Xyz Monster-attached Final Fortress Falcon out on the field, tributing them with a Kaiju or similar effects is one of the best ways to do it. Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju gets a special mention due to being the Kaiju monster with the lowest ATK.

In the Force Strix into Cyber Dragon Infinity You cannot use fuzzy lanius's effect as it will lock you into summoning raidraptors only. It's better to use pain lanius to summon force strix.
