Spright Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Spright is an archetype of Thunder Monsters composed of Fire and Dark Attributes. They specialize in utilizing anything related to "2" like Level, Rank, and Link.
All Spright Main Deck Monsters share the same effect of If you control a Level/Rank/Link 2 Monster... to Special Summon themselves.

They also have a Trigger Effect upon Special Summon, like adding more Spright Cards from the Deck to hand, or negating an opponent's card.

With this, Sprights can easily swarm the field with Level 2 Monsters making it easier to Summon strong Rank/Link 2 Monsters from the Extra Deck.

Spright Blue and Spright Jet are your primary searchers of the Deck. You can Special Summon them from hand if you have a Level/Rank 2 Monster on the field.

Once Special Summoned, Blue lets you add any Spright Monster from the Deck to hand except itself. While Jet adds a Spright Spell/Trap instead.

Spright Starter is a Quick-Play Spell Card that lets you Special Summon any Spright Monster from the Deck, making access to Blue and Jet or other Spright Monsters easier. Do note that you will lose LP equal to the Attack of the Monster you Summoned, as well as locking yourself out from Summoning non-Level/Rank/Link 2 Monsters.

Gigantic Spright is one of Spright's strongest Monsters. Only requiring 2 Level 2 Monster to Summon it or use any Link-2 Monster for its material. Gigantic Spright shines the most with its strong Effect that lets you Special Summon any Level 2 Monster from your Deck.
Moreover, Gigantic Spright locks both players out from Summoning non-Level/Rank/Link-2 Monsters, meaning you are completely immune to Nibiru's threat. during your combo.

Spright Elf protects any Monster that it points to by making them immune to targeting effects. Spright Elf also has a Quick-Effect during the Main Phase that lets you Special Summon any Level 2 Monster from your Graveyard.
This effect becomes stronger if your opponent is controlling a Monster, making Elf's effect target Rank/Link 2 Monster instead. With Elf, you can easily recycle I:P Masquerena or any other Spright Monster to disrupt your opponent's play further.

Spright Carrot and Spright Red are your primary Effect Negations. You can Special Summon them from hand if you have a Level/Link 2 Monster on the field.

Carrot deals with Spells, while Red negates Monster Effects.

Both of their effects need to tribute a Level/Rank/Link 2 Monster for cost, in which if you Tributed a Rank 2 Xyz or LINK-2 Monster, they also destroy the cards that were negated.

The Frog engin maximizes your Rank/Link-2 plays as they are easy to access and have greatly spammable strong effects.

Swap Frog can easily set up your Graveyard by sending lots of Frogs from the Deck to the Graveyard. Dupe Frog provides an additional spot, as Swap Frog becomes Limited as of September 1, 2023.

Ronintoadin is your main Frog card to call out itself by banishing another Frog from the Graveyard. Use carefully, as it has a hard once-per-turn clause.

WIth the addition of Spright Sprind, the Nimble engine becomes easier to access.

Nimble Beaver lets you Special Summon any Level 3 or lower "Nimble" monster from the Deck when Normal Summoned--usually another copy of itself.

Nimble Angler Special Summons up to 2 Level or lower "Nimble" monster from the Deck when sent from the Deck or Field to the GY.

The Melffy engine provides another layer of interruption for the Deck.

Melffy of the Forest can easily be Summoned with the help of the Nimble engine, which will be used to add Melffy Catty.

Afterwards, Melffy Catty will then Summon itself during the End Phase to set up for next turn's disruption combo.

Melffy Pinny is a Level 2 Tuner which will then be tuned with Melffy Catty to Synchro Summon Herald of the Arc Light during the opponent's turn.

With the emergence of decks like Branded and Tearlaments that use the Graveyard, Bystials is a good addition as a counter to the top meta, especially against LIGHT and DARK Monsters.

Core Combos and Interactions

Spright Starter

This 1-Card Spright Starter Combo can be bridged into multiple other variants. This Combo will be the bread and butter of the deck.

Required Cards
Step	Description
1	Activate Spright Starter from Hand to Special Summon Spright Blue from the Deck.
2	Activate Spright Blue's effect, searching Spright Jet from Deck to Hand.
3	Special Summon Spright Jet from Hand. Activate its effect to add Spright Starter or Spright Smashers from the Deck to hand. The card you add here depends on the current game state.
4	Overlay Spright Blue and Spright Jet to Xyz Summon Gigantic Spright. Activate Gigantic's Effect to Special Summon Swap Frog from the Deck and then detach Blue.
5	Activate Swap Frog's Effect to send Ronintoadin from the Deck to Graveyard. Activate Swap Frog's other effect to return itself to hand.
6	Normal Summon Swap Frog then Activate its Effect to send Swap Frog from the Deck to Graveyard. Note that this is your First Normal Summon of the turn. Swap Frog's additional Normal Summon only works for Frog that has a different name.
7	Activate Ronintoadin's effect by Banishing Swap Frog from the Graveyard to Special Summon itself.
8	Link Summon Spright Elf using Swap Frog and Ronintoadin as materials. Activate Elf's effect to Special Summon Swap Frog from the Graveyard. Activate Swap Frog's effect to send Dupe Frog from the Deck to Graveyard.
9	Activate Ronintoadin's effect by Banishing Dupe Frog from the Graveyard to Special Summon itself. Then Link Summon I:P Masquerena using Swap Frog and Ronintoadin as materials.
10	Activate Ronintoadin's effect by Banishing Swap Frog from the Graveyard to Special Summon itself. Then Set the Spright Starter or Spright Smashers that you searched with Jet's effect.

Use I:P Masquerena effect to Link Summon into:

1. Knightmare Unicorn to spin 1 card your opponent controls.
2. Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax to provide a strong boss-monster on your field.
3. Topologic Zeroboros to pose a board wipe threat to the opponent.

4	Overlay Spright Sprind and Nimble Beaver to Xyz Summon Gigantic Spright. Activate Gigantic's Effect to Special Summon Spright Blue from the Deck and then detach Beaver.
5	Activate Spright Blue's Effect to add Spright Jet from the Deck to hand.
6	Special Summon Spright Jet then activate its Effect to add Spright Starter from the Deck to hand.
7	Activate Spright Starter to Special Summon Spright Carrot or Spright Red from the Deck. Note: Special Summon any of the 2 depending on the match-up.
8	Overlay Spright Blue and Spright Jet to Xyz Summon Melffy of the Forest. Activate its effect to add Melffy Catty from the Deck to hand.
9	Link Summon Spright Elf using Gigantic Spright and Nimble Beaver as materials. Activate its effect to Special Summon any Level 2 monster from the GY then Link Summon I:P Masquerena using Melffy of the Forest and the Level 2 Monster previously summoned by Elf as materials.
10	Proceed to End Phase to Special Summon Melffy Catty to a zone Spright Elf points to.

Alternative Options

Rank 2 Options

Another Rank 2 Option for the Deck is Cat Shark Allows your Gigantic Spright to reach insurmountable stats.
Sky Cavalry Centaurea is a good bridge to Summon Zeus.
Djinn Buster is another layer of negation that you can use in conjunction to certain engines.

Evil Twins Engine

The Live/Evil Twin engine blends well with Spright as they are mostly comprised of Level/Link-2 Monsters. The Live★Twin can also act as a combo starter as they can Special Summon the other twin from the deck which results to the Summon of Gigantic Spright.

Sacred Beast Engine

The Sacred Beast can be used as a small engine in conjunction to other engine like Frogs. With Dark Beckoning Beast being a Dark Level 2 Monster, you can easily access Djinn Buster that adds another layer of negation for your setup.

Runic Engine

Runick is one of the previous format's strongest deck. With Hugin being a Level 2 Monster, Sprights can capitalize with this along with Runick's strong Quick-Play Spell and unique style of gameplay.

Deep Sea Diva

This small package of Deep Sea Diva lets you Summon Baronne de Fleur before doing your standard combo. This just adds another layer of negation for your setup.

GY Control-Spright

With the emergence of the Tearlaments, some top-tier decks are shifting to more control-centric gameplay, specifically targeting the GY.
Number 29: Mannequin Cat can easily Summon The End of Anubis when facing Tearlaments, as most Tearlaments monsters are Dark Attribute.

Dimensional Fissure and Soul Drain are your typical anti-GY floodgates that barely hurts Spright at all once you already completed your setup.

Boss Monsters

	Gigantic Spright
	Gigantic Spright lets you Summon any Level 2 Monster from the Deck, basically accessing all of your key components. Summoning Gigantic Spright early can secure multiple protections as it prevents any non-Level/Rank/Link-2 Monsters for both player to be Summoned. Thus making cards like Nibiru to be useless against Spright.
	Spright Elf
	Spright Elf provides protection to the Monsters it points to by making them immune to targeting Effects. Spright Elf has a Quick-Effect that lets you Summon a Monster from the Graveyard.
	I:P Masquerena
	I:P Masquerena serves as another layer of disruption during your opponent's turn. Use I:P's effect to Summon your other Boss Monsters like Apollousa or Zeroboros to further stop your opponent's play.
	Topologic Zeroboros
	Topologic Zeroboros is a massive threat to any slow control decks like Eldlich as you can always Summon this using I:P Masquerena's Effect to pose a board wipes threat to them.

Best Decks to Use Against Sprights

Sprights

Being a force to be reckoned with, Spright is one of the strongest decks in the current Master Duel Format. Fight fire with fire (in this case, Thunder with Thunder). Spright has strong going second tools like Dark Ruler No More and Ultimate Slayer. Some Spright Variant runs Kaiju-like cards as well in preparation to mirror matches.

Best Cards to Tech Against Spright

	D.D. Crow
	Banishing Ronintoadin from the Graveyard. greatly reduces the tempo of Spright.
	Lava Golem
	Any Kaiju-like cards can easily clear Spright's strong board. Prioritize tributing I:P Masquerena and Sprite Elf.
	Artifact Lancea
	Artifact Lancea works like D.D. Crow against Spright since Lancea prevents your opponent from Banishing cards. Thus rendering Ronintoadin useless.
	Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit
	A perfectly timed Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit on Gigantic Spright commonly stops Spright's combo unless they have a combo extender. Ghost Ogre stops Gigantic Spright's Effect from resolving as Gigantic Spright detaches Xyz Material for Effect instead of Cost.

	A niche floodgate choice to counter Spright specifically.
	Dark Ruler No More
	Dark Ruler No More shuts down Spright's strong board, making it easier to break.
