Generaider Deck Guide: How to Play

Main Deck Monsters

Loptr, Shadow of the Generaider Bosses

Loptr, Shadow of the Generaider Bosses is the only Level 4 "Generaider" monster in the entire Deck, and for good reason; it's one of two easy ways to bring out the higher-leveled "Generaider" monsters. It also provides an additional stat boost during the opponent's turn.

Harr, Generaider Boss of Storms Mardel, Generaider Boss of Light Utgarda, Generaider Boss of Delusion

Most of the "Generaider" monsters are Level 9 monsters, but can be cheated out on the field with support cards. Players can only control one copy of each monster on the field--much like a boss monster in a video game.

Harr, Generaider Boss of Storms can negate the activation of a card or effect by tributing 2 "Generaider" and/or Spellcaster monsters. Meanwhile, Mardel, Generaider Boss of Light can search out a Plant-type monster or a different "Generaider" card from the Deck.

Utgarda, Generaider Boss of Delusion allows the player to banish a card on the field once per turn.

Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Maxx "C"

There are two key hand traps for this Deck: Maxx "C" to stop multiple Special Summons, and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate search effects once per turn. In any Deck, these two cards are currently borderline mandatory due to their impact in the game.

Hop Ear Squadron Diviner of the Herald

There are two Tuners in the Deck that provide some access to Synchro Monster potential. Hop Ear Squadron allows the player to Special Summon this, and immediately Synchro Summon afterwards, all during the opponent's turn.

Diviner of the Herald is key in tossing the Fusion Monsters with Graveyard Effects to the GY, and it can raise its level to make Synchro Summons a little easier.

Spell Cards

Generaider Boss Stage Generaider Boss Quest

Generaider Boss Stage is the most important Spell Card for the entire Deck, with its effect of summoning Generaider Tokens very crucial for the other "Generaider" Monsters in the Main Deck.

By revealing a "Generaider" monster from the hand, Generaider Boss Quest lets you retrieve two "Generaider" Spells and Traps from the Deck. This is especially important if you don't have the Field Spell mentioned above.

World Legacy Monstrosity Kuji-Kiri Curse

Surprisingly, there are some cards that help support Level 9 monsters in general. World Legacy Monstrosity lets you Special Summon 1 from the hand for free, or Special Summon 2 from the Deck, with some restrictions added.

Kuji-Kiri Curse acts as a Level 9 version for Trade-In, potentially letting the player draw two cards.

Trap Cards

Generaider Boss Fight Generaider Boss Room

There is not much emphasis on the "Generaider" Trap Cards since you can search them out with the help of Generaider Boss Quest.

Generaider Boss Fight is a Generaider version of Metaverse; at the cost of letting the opponent draw, you can potentially activate Generaider Boss Stage straight from the Deck.

Meanwhile, Generaider Boss Room is a Continuous Trap Card that changes the effect of cards that were in response to your "Generaider" effect once per turn.

Evenly Matched

Right now, Evenly Matched is the best field-clearing card in the game, especially if you end up going second. Running three copies should help increase the chances of having this card on hand in your first turn.

Extra Deck Monsters

Garura, Wings of Resonant Life Elder Entity N

You only have two Fusion Monsters to pick from, you don't even need to summon them--they're simply fodder to be sent to the GY with the help of Diviner of the Herald. Garura, Wings of Resonant Life lets you draw a card, while Elder Entity N'tss destroys a card on the field.

Jormungandr, Generaider Boss of Eternity Laevatein, Generaider Boss of Shadows Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir Mereologic Aggregator

Most of the Extra Deck Monsters are Rank 9 monsters, which thankfully have quite a number of options that have generic material requirements. A key monster is Jormungandr, Generaider Boss of Eternity, which gets stronger for every material attached to this card, and has an effect that lets it add more materials once per turn.

A newer addition to the Deck List for the "Generadier" archetype is Laevatein, Generaider Boss of Shadows. Just by being on the field, it provides advantage by lowering the stats of the opponent's monsters. It can also Tribute itself to Special Summon a non-Fairy "Generaider" Xyz Monster straight from the Deck, then attach materials afterwards.

The rest is up to the player, depending if the player wants flexibility and number of options to consider.

Number F0: Utopic Future Number F0: Utopic Draco Future

Since this Generaider Deck runs mutliple Rank 9 Xyz Monsters, players do have the option to play Number F0: Utopic Future, and then Rank Up into Number F0: Utopic Draco Future.

Knightmare Phoenix I:P Masquerena Unchained Abomination

For Link Monsters, the choices are odd but worth taking note of. Knightmare Phoenix deals with the opponent's Spells or Traps, while I:P Masquerena can allow another Link Summon during the opponent's turn, all the while providing that Link Monster immunity from the opponent's card destruction effects.

That chosen Link Monster would be Unchained Abomination, which provides one chance to destroy a card during every End Phase.

Boss Monsters

Jormungandr, Generaider Boss of Eternity
Jormungandr, Generaider Boss of Eternity The more materials attached to Jormungandr, Generaider Boss of Eternity, the stronger it gets stat-wise. It also has an effect that both provides a free draw, and a way to get more cards attached to this one as materials.

Generaider Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Generaider

Ishizu Tearlaments

Master Duel - Ishizu Tearlaments

Despite hits in the banlist, Ishizu Tearlaments remains the strongest Deck in the meta as of writing. It can absolutely play through the Deck's lockdown combo with the proper cards, and if this Deck manages to go first versus Generaiders, it might be hard to properly set up against their plethora of effects.

Ishizu Tearlaments Deck List & Card Guide

Floowandereeze

Master Duel - Floowandereeze

Floowandereeze does not care for Special Summons, and can play through them with their own Normal Summons. If it manages to go first, your own Normal Summon for the turn will give them insurmountable advantage if you do not have the proper cards to counter them.

Floowandereeze Deck List & Card Guide

Exosister

Master Duel - Exosisters

Exosister Decks take their specialty in banishing monsters against Generaiders well, and can be quite tricky to defeat. If their ability to trigger effects on the hand or on the field isn't stopped, Exosister players can snowball their advantage to their own style of Control.

Best Cards to Tech Against Generaider

Summon Limit
Summon Limit Summon Limit bottlenecks both players from summoning more than two monsters in a turn. When active, this forces the Generaider player's Generaider Boss Stage to only summon two tokens instead of taking up the rest of the unoccopied Main Monster Zones.
Evenly Matched
Evenly Matched If the Generaiders do not have a negate against Evenly Matched, this one Trap Card activated from the hand can easily wipe the Deck's entire field in one go. Much worse, the cards are banished face-down, effectively removing them from the rest of the Duel.
Dark Ruler No More
Dark Ruler No More The moment Dark Ruler No More resolves its activated effect, the opponent's monsters have their effects negated. While it denies the player the chance to deal damage, having their entire field be negated is a fair trade.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Ash Blosom & Joyous Spring can stop any attempt to search out the Deck's Field Spell. Generaiders are heavily reliant on it and its effect to Special Summon Tokens during the opponent's turn, so to deny them that would be to open up a weakness in their strategy.
