Toy Box Dark Magician Breakdown

Alternate Cards for Toy Box Dark Magician

Barrier Statue of the Heavens
Barrier Statue of the Heavens Barrier Statue of the Heavens can actually be searched out with the Toy Box Deck Engine combo, using Toy Soldier's effect once it triggers upon being Special Summoned to search out a Level 4 or lower LIGHT monster. It is a bit of an antithesis considering Dark Magicians are predominantly DARK, but still a surprise that is sure to catch opponents off-guard.
Magicalized Fusion & Quintet Magician
Magicalized Fusion Quintet Magician At some point, there will be around 5 Spellcasters in your Graveyard to use Magicalized Fusion on to bring out Quintet Magician. Summoning this Fusion Monsters is more often than not a game-ending play, with its board wipe effect on Fusion Summon, and extremely high ATK at 4500.
Super Polymerization & Predaplant Dragostapelia
Super Polymerization Predaplant Dragostapelia Having DARK monsters in the Main Deck, it can be quite easy to go into Predaplant Dragostapelia if players decided to add in Super Polymerization into the Deck Recipe as another way to conduct a Fusion Summon. If the opponent uses DARK monsters, then this card is an easy way to get rid of monsters on the field.
Despian Proskenion
Despian Proskenion Usually Granguignol's effect is what is used to bring out Despian Luluwalilith, but another alternative choice to summon is Despian Proskenion. Its ability to target Extra Deck monsters in the GY for its effect for its owner's benefit can provide a serious advantage.
Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir
Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir For an easy defensive set up with the Toy monsters going first if they bricked their hand, Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir should buy players some time to stall and draw out the necessary cards. It can also transition into Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder if a field wipe is needed..
Time Thief Redoer into ZEUS
Time Thief Redoer Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder Another way of making use of the Toy monsters is to Xyz them into Time Thief Redoer and keep using its Standby Phase effect to steal cards from the top of the opponent's Deck. With enough materials, using it to go into ZEUS would let it use its field-wiping effect multiple times.
Secret Village of the Spellcasters
Secret Village of the Spellcasters Secret Village of the Spellcasters is basically a Spellcaster Deck's own version of Imperial Order. So long as a player does not control Spellcasters, they cannot activate any Spell Card while this Field Spell is active.

Boss Monsters

Dark Magician the Dragon Knight
Dark Magician the Dragon Knight With access to Timaeus, Dark Magician the Dragon Knight is a massive boss monster to have on the field. The backrow becomes protected from targeted card effects, and they are also immune to card destruction effects while this card is face-up and active on the field.
Master of Chaos
Master of Chaos On Fusion Summon, Master of Chaos can bring back a LIGHT or DARK monster from your GY back to the Field. Tributing a monster from those Attributes will banish all monsters the opponent controls, and should this card be destroyed, you get to recycle a Spell Card from the GY back to the hand.
Chaos Angel
Chaos Angel Because this Deck is predominantly LIGHT and DARK monsters, there is no need to have Tuners in the Deck (outside of Blazing Cartesia) to Synchro Summon Chaos Angel. Depending on the materials it uses, it can become a very hard monster to remove from the Field.
Despian Luluwalilith
Despian Luluwalilith Players can cheat out Despian Luluwalilith with the help of Granguignol the Dusk Dragon. Having this on the field is a natural counter against the opponent's Extra Deck, and it provides a permanent ATK boost to all your monsters on the field every time it uses its negation effect.
Accesscode Talker
Accesscode Talker Accesscode Talker is a natural boss monster to with an easy to summon LINK-3 monsters in Selene. With enough Link Monsters in the GY with different Attributes, this card can pop cards from the opponent's field--and they cannot respond to this card's activation whatsoever.

Toy Box Dark Magician Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Toy Box Dark Magician

Floowandereeze

Floowandereeze

Floowandereeze has been mostly untouched as more and more Special Summon-centric archetypes are stil being added to Master Duel. So long as their floodgates remain, this Deck remains one of the best counters against Extra Deck-based strategies.

Floowandereeze Deck List & Card Guide

Fire King Snake-Eyes

Fire King Snake-Eyes

Fire King Snake-Eyes is far and away the best Deck in Master Duel right now, even with some hits to the banlist like Bonfire being Semi-Limited. Expect to have a rough time going against this Deck, especially if you have no way to stop its set-up.

Fire King Snake-Eyes Deck List & Card Guide

Chimera Illusion

Chimera Illusion

Chimera Illusion can conduct Fusion Summons quite a lot, and their monsters are particularly strong when it comes to the Battle Phase. Because their Fusion Spell is a Quick-Play Spell, they can time it right and go for game if they have enough materials to use.

Best Cards to Tech Against Toy Box Dark Magician

Evenly Matched
Evenly Matched In terms of board wipes, Evenly Matched is one of the strongest, and if the player using this Deck does not have anything that can negate this Trap Card, it might very well be game. Make sure to have something prepared, especially if the opponent decides to go second.
Heavy Storm
Heavy Storm Heavy Storm is finally off the banlist as a Limited Card, so expect this to be in every single Deck side-by-side with Harpie's Feather Duster. Unless you have cards that are providing backrow protection, this can wreck a Dark Magician set-up of Spells and Traps easily.
Droll & Lock Bird
Droll & Lock Bird Toy Box Dark Magician is so reliant in its card searches to get the key cards to start their combo. Droll & Lock Bird can stop all searches on both sides for the rest of the turn, which is going to be detrimental for getting Dark Magician started.
Sinful Spoils of Subversion - Snake-Eye
Sinful Spoils of Subversion - Snake-Eye One of the strongest displacement cards in the game, Sinful Spoils of Subversion - Snake-Eye remains unrestricted. This is especially dangerous for any Dark Magician Deck (and especially this variant) because of various Spells and Traps occupying a lot of the Spell/Trap Zones. A well-timed move of a monster into a Continuous Spell can make the player unable to activate any Spells or Traps due to not having enough space!
