Madolche Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

The Madolche archetype is known for their effects that recycle card from the Graveyard, and shuffle them back into the Deck. This effect often triggers when a Madolche monster is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, or a card effect allows the recycle effect to happen. There is not much to worry about getting bricked or having bad draws, as the archetype has numerous Search effects scattered across the Deck.

With this kind of playstyle, Mill Decks or any strategies involving Decking Out will have a trouble against Madolches.

Depending on how you build a Madolche Deck, it can work as a Control Deck that can constantly recycle its cards, or a Deck that can surprise the opponent with OTK attempts. In some cases like this one, it can do both. This Deck is proficient enough to do both, through having presence on the field and constantly shuffling Madolche cards from the Graveyard back into the Deck, and getting a number of monsters on the field while having enough effects to deny the enemy any advantages.

Staple Madolche Cards

Madolche Anjelly Madolche Petingcessoeur Madolche Magileine Madolche Hootcake

These four Madolche monsters make up the core of any Madolche Deck, and more often than not it is recommended to run three of these in any variation of a Madolche Deck, be it for an OTK or Field Control verision.

Anjelly and Hootcake both have effects that Special Summon a Madolche monster from the Deck with their respective costs that control the Graveyard, Petingcessoeur can Special Summon itself and Special Summons a Madolche monster from the Deck with its Level reduced by 1, and Magileine can act as a combo starter upon Normal Summon by searching out a Madolche monster from the Deck to the hand.

Gems Tip! Among the four core Madolche monsters, Madolche Magileine is the only monster without a once-per-turn effect restriction. Use this to your advantage; in a combo, the best case scenario is to be able to Normal Summon two copies of Magileine with the help of Madolche Salon.

Recycle Enablers

Madolche Chateau Madolche Salon Madolche Ticket

These are Spell Cards that presses the advantage of the Madolches, and will definitely be present in different versions of the Deck.

Madolche Chateau automatically shuffles all Madolche monsters in the Graveyard back into the Deck, on top of providing a stat boost to Madolche monsters on the field, and sending cards to the hand instead of the usual shuffle into Deck effect . Madolche Ticket lets you search out a Madolche monster to add to the hand each time the shuffle into Deck effect triggers, or Special Summons them instead if you control a Fairy Madolche monster. Madolche Salon effectively gives you two Normal Summons for Madolche monsters, and if a Madolche monster is sent to the Graveyard or is shuffled back to the Deck, it sets a Madolche Spell or Trap directly from the Deck.

Madolche Boss Monsters

Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-mode Madolche Queen Tiaramisu Madolche Teacher Glassouffle Madolche Fresh Sistart

The Xyz Monsters are already stellar in their own right, being relatively easy to bring out because of the archetype's knack for combos. Teacher Glassouffle can make a fellow Madolche monster immune to monster effects, while Queen Tiaramisu bounces cards from the opponentt's field back equal to the number of Madolche cards shuffled back into the Deck (max. 2) .

As for Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode, it can use either of the previous Madolche Xyz Monsters as materials; it automatically recycles a Madolche card from the GY to the Deck, and it is able to Special Summon another Madolche monster whenever a Madolche card is shuffled into the Deck from the GY.

As the only Madolche Link Monster, Fresh Sistart is a very good card to consider as an opener to Link Monsters with higher Link Ratings. More importantly, as long as there is a monster where this card's Link Markers are pointing to, Madolche Spells and Traps cannot be destroyed or targeted by card effects. It also enjoys a strong presence on the field by shuffling Madolche monster from the GY to the Deck if this card were to be destroyed by battle or card effect.

Core Combos and Interactions

All Madolche Bosses in One Turn

This lengthy combo lets you bring out one of each of the Madolche Boss Monsters in a single turn, provided either you go first or in subsequent turns, you are able to do this combo without any roadblocks.

This combo also contains the bread and butter combo that brings out Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode, which enables card advantage whenever you shuffle back Madolche monsters from the GY to the Deck.

Part 1: Madolche Queen Tiaramisu Combo
1 Activate Madolche Salon.
2 Normal Summon Madolche Magileine.
3 Due to the effect of Madolche Salon, you can Normal Summon another copy of Madolche Magileine.
4 Using the two copies of Madolche Magileine, Xyz Summon Madolche Queen Tiaramisu.
Part 2: Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode Combo
Gems Tip! If you have better options for Rank 4 monsters to Xyz Summon other than Madolche Queen Tiaramisu, this is your chance to do it. Madolche Queen Tiaramisu being on the field at this point does not factor into the next steps of the combo.
5 There should be no Madolche monsters in your GY for this step: Special Summon from the hand, through its own effect, Madolche Petingcessoeur.
6 Upon being Special Summoned, Madolche Petingcessoeur's second effect activates; Special Summon Madolche Puddingcess from the Main Deck, and have its Level reduced by 1.
7 Using Madolche Petingcessoeur and the now-Level 4 Madolche Puddingcess, Xyz Summon Madolche Teacher Glassouffle.
8 Detach Madolche Puddingcess from Madolche Teacher Glassouffle to activate its effect, and target Madolche Queen Tiaramisu to receive the monster card effect immunity.
9 Using Madolche Teacher Glassouffle and its remaining attached Xyz Material, Xyz Summon Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode.
10 Activate the effect of Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode; target a Madolche monster from the GY, and shuffle it back to the Deck. This triggers Madolche Salon's effect, and Set Madolche Ticket straight to the field.
10 Activate the effect of Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode; target a Madolche monster from the GY, and shuffle it back to the Deck.
11 The effect of Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode triggers Madolche Salon's effect, and it is immediately chained afterwards with the second effect of Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode. With Chocolat-a-la-Mode's effect, detach Madolche Teacher Glassouffle and Special Summon Madolche Anjelly from the Deck; and with Madolche Salon, Set Madolche Ticket straight to the field from the Deck.
Gems Tip! If you feel like stopping here with Madolche Queen Tiaramisu and Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode, you can opt to search another Madolche Spell or Trap in place of Madolche Salon, which you have to tech in. Good options include Madolche Nights, Madolche Tea Break and Madolche Promenade.
Madolche Nights Madolche Tea Break Madolche Promenade
Part 3: Linking with Madolche Fresh Sistart Combo
12 Flip open and activate Madolche Ticket.
13 Activate the effect of Madolche Anjelly that was summoned earlier, tribute itself, and Special Summon Madolche Hootcake from the Deck.
14 Activate the effect of Madolche Anjelly that was summoned earlier, tribute itself, and Special Summon Madolche Hootcake from the Deck, and activate its effect afterwards; Banish a Madolche monster from your Graveyard (best target would be the Madolche Teacher Glassouffle that was detached earlier), and Special Summon Madolche Messengelato.
15 Upon being Special Summoned, activate the effect of Madolche Messengelato to search out a copy of Madolche Chateau, and activate it as soon as it is added from the hand.
16 Using Madolche Messengelato and Madolche Hootcake as Materials, Link Summon Madolche Fresh Sistart. Ideally, the Link Markers should be pointing to both Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode and Madolche Queen Tiaramisu, to grant Madolche Spells and Traps destruction and targeting immunity.

Boss Monsters

Accesscode Talker
Accesscode Talker Madolche Decks can make use of Accesscode Talker as an endgame monsters, especially considering how the Deck specializes in multiple Special Summons. It also has a plethora of Link Monsters to use for its effect and ATK Boost, up to a maximum of a 4000 ATK increase if Borrelsword Dragon was used as material.
Borrelsword Dragon
Borrelsword Dragon Borrelsword Dragon is another late-game monster that acts as an offensive powerhouse. The fact that it cannot be destroyed by battle means it can remain safe on the field against high-ATK monsters, and its own ATK boost effect lasts as long as this card remains on the field.
PSY-Framelord Omega
PSY-Framelord Omega Running PSY-Framegear Gamma and PSY-Frame Driver opens up a chance to run a copy of PSY-Framelord Omega. If you happen to have both PSY monsters on the field as a result of activating Gamma's effect, you can immediately use both monsters to Synchro Summon. It also recycles one of your own Banished cards into the GY every turn, letting you recycle your Madolche monsters even more.
Madolche Queen Tiaramisu
Madolche Queen Tiaramisu A Madolche Xyz Monster, this card provides even more disruptions. Its effect allows you to clear the field with non-destruction effects by shuffling them back into the Deck, and recycle Madolche cards from the Graveyard back into your Deck.
Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode
Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-mode The Madolche monster in the entire Deck Recipe with the highest ATK, this card is relatively easy to summon by using a Rank 4 Madolche Xyz monster. It also has an free card recycle effect once per turn, and has the ability to Special Summon a monster whenever a Madolche monster is shuffled back into the Deck.

Budget Madolche: F2P Friendly

Lower Rarity Replacements

SR/UR Replacements
Madolche Queen Tiaramisu Traptrix Rafflesia Gravedigger

In this Deck Recipe, three copies of Madolche Queen Tiaramisu is too good to pass up. However, you can cheese your opponent by taking one off, and adding a Traptrix Rafflesia for even more control, and an unexpected counter against monster effects if Gravedigger's Trap Hole is teched into the Deck.

Borrelsword Dragon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess Steel Star Regulator

Borrelsword Dragon is a powerhouse of a monster for Madolche Decks. For a bit more control, Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess prevents more effect monsters from disrupting your combos. But for a cheesier strat, got for a monster with a lower Link Rating in Steel Star Regulator, whose effect can be used to burn the opponent as a finishing blow.

Infinite Impermanence Solemn Strike Herald of Orange Light

Infinite Impermanence stops monster effects once again, and can be activated from the hand. A cheaper option happens to be a Counter Trap in Solemn Warning, with the caveat being the monster effect has to Special Summon another monster. For an even more affordable option which matches Madolche's Fairy typing, Herald of Orange Light is a great hand trap that negates monster effects.

Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju Volcanic Queen

Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju is the Kaiju monster with the lowest ATK, but is a little expensive to get as a SR monster. A cheaper alternative would be to run Volcanic Queen, which still tributes one of the opponents' monsters at the cost of not being able to Normal Summon or Set afterwards.

Evenly Matched Torrential Tribute

Evenly Matched is probably one of the best board wipes in the entire game at the moment, especially as it Banishes the cards the opponent controls face-down and the fact that it can be activated from the hand. A cheaper alternative that can work, even though it does not affect Spells and Traps like Evenly Matched does, is Torrential Tribute.

Madolche Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Madolche

Eldlich Control

Eldrich Control Decks have a wide array of floodgates at disposal that will disrupt the Madolches before they can even set up and control the field, like Skill Drain and Imperial Order. Madolches can do as much as it can if it goes first, but do not expect to win if the Eldlich Deck goes first, unless the opponent blunders a move.

Eldlich Control Deck List and Card Guide

Gren Maju

Gren Maju Decks prever banshing as many cards as possible, through the help of cards like Macro Cosmos and Dimensional Fissure. Madolche cards cannot be shuffled back into the Deck if they are Banished instead, essentially robbing them of their greatest strength. On top of that, Gren Maju Da Eiza gets stronger for each Banished card from both players, which can skyrocket.

Gravekeepers

Another Deck that denies Madolche Decks their use of the Graveyard to their advantage, Gravekeepers share the similarity of having monsters with average ATK. This time, their signature Field Spell in Necrovalley can lock the cards in the Graveyard, preventing them from leaving, even by a recycle effect.

Drytron Fairy

Drytron Fairy decks carry too many negates in them for Madolches to handle, which can effectively shut them out from completing their combo. Cards like Herald of Orange Light and Herald of Ultimateness would be too much of a disruption for this Deck to handle, especially the latter not having a once-per-turn restriction on its effect.

Drytron Fairy Deck List and Card Guide

Best Cards to Tech Against Madolche

Stygian Dirge
Stygian Dirge While this card will not hinder the chances for Link Summons, Stygian Dirge will wreck the Madolche monsters from Xyz Summoning into the signature Rank 4 monsters. A single level reduced on all monsters across the board will cripple Madolche so long as this card remains face-up and active on the field.
Summon Limit
Summon Limit For a control Deck, Madolche needs to have quite a few summons needed to get their key monsters out like Queen Tiaramisu and Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode. Summon Limit stops Madolches from getting as much advantage from multiple summons, forcing them to make their two cards count.
Skill Drain
Skill Drain For this Deck to maintain control over the field or even do their basic combos, they need their effects to trigger. Skill Drain completely stops Madolche monsters from activating their effects, leaving them prime targets in battle as they normally do not have high ATK compared to other archetypes.
Dark Ruler No More
Dark Ruler No More Dark Ruler No More may stop you from dealing damage for the rest of the turn, but it effectively negates all the opponent's monsters' effects, and Madolche Decks will have problems, especially from Monster Effects as they cannot responnd to this card's activation.
Dimensional Fissure
Dimensional Fissure For the Madolche Deck to keep recycling cards into the Deck, they often need to be in the Graveyard. As long as they have access to the Graveyard, Madolches will simply never run out of resources--so deny them the Graveyard outright. Dimensional Fissure, and its Trap Card counterpart Macro Cosmos automatically banishes any card that was supposed to be sent to the Graveyard.
