Adventurer Witchcrafter Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Witchcrafter as an archetype, leans more towards a Control type of playstyle.

Witchcrafter Monsters all share a Quick Effect that is activated by discarding a Spell Card.

Level 4 monters can tribute themselves to Special Summon a different Witchcrafter Monster from the Deck, while those that are Level 5 or Higher can Special Summon from the hand, destroy an opponent's card, or even negate opposing monster's effects.

Level 4 and lower monsters also have effects that can be activated by banishing themselves from the GY, specifically to recover cards for better consistency -- pretty much acting like Spell Cards that summon from the Deck with GY Effects.

Level 5 and higher monsters have a unique effect to support Spellcasters, either by Tributing itself to revive a Spellcaster, providing targeting protection, or increasing the ATK/DEF of a battling Spellcaster.

Basic Combo

Required Cards
Witchcrafter Schmietta Water Enchantress of the Temple Witchcrafter Holiday
Step Description
Activate Water Enchantress of the Temple -> Banish itself to search for Rite of Aramesir from the Deck and send it to the Hand.
Set & activate Rite of Aramesir -> Special Summon 1 Adventrurer Token in Def Position -> Search for Fateful Adventure from the Deck and place it face-up in your Spell & Trap Zone.
Activate Fateful Adventure -> Search for Wandering Gryphon Rider from the Deck and send it to the Hand while discarding Witchcrafter Holiday.
Activate Wandering Gryphon Rider's Effect from the Hand -> Special Summon it onto the Field -> Fateful Adventure's Effect Triggers -> Search for Dracoback, the Rideable Dragon from the Deck and send it to the Hand.
Normal Summon Witchcrafter Schmietta -> Activate Witchcrafter Holiday's Effect from the GY to send it back to the Hand.
Tribute Witchcrafter Schmietta -> Discard Dracoback, the Rideable Dragon -> Special Summon Witchcrafter Madame Verre from the Deck.
Activate Dracoback, the Rideable Dragon's GY Effect -> Target the Adventurer Token on the Field to equip itself to it.

This basic combo, where you can replace Witchcrafter Schmietta with any low-level Witchcrafter Monster would be your go-to, basic combo that will provide you with a blanket Negate via Witchcrafter Madame Verre.

Witchcrafter Madame Verre's Effect can target one of your Spell Cards on the field to Discard it which in turn, negates all face-up monsters your opponent currently controls.

This Effect, paired with Dracoback, the Rideable Dragon's Effect of being able to recycle itself as long as your Adventurer Token is on the Field.

And for added measure, Wandering Gryphon Rider will also provide you with another negate at the cost of shuffling itself back into your Deck.

Advanced Combo

Required Cards
Witchcrafter Schmietta Water Enchantress of the Temple Witchcrafter Creation
Step Description
Activate Water Enchantress of the Temple -> Banish itself to search for Rite of Aramesir from the Deck and send it to the Hand.
Set & activate Rite of Aramesir -> Special Summon 1 Adventrurer Token in Def Position -> Search for Fateful Adventure from the Deck and place it face-up in your Spell & Trap Zone.
Activate Fateful Adventure -> Search for Wandering Gryphon Rider from the Deck and send it to the Hand while discarding Witchcrafter Creation.
Activate Wandering Gryphon Rider's Effect from the Hand -> Special Summon it onto the Field -> Fateful Adventure's Effect Triggers -> Search for Dracoback, the Rideable Dragon from the Deck and send it to the Hand.
Normal Summon Witchcrafter Schmietta -> Activate Witchcrafter Creation's Effect from the GY to send it back to the Hand.
Set & activate Witchcrafter Creation -> Search for Witchcrafter Madame Verre from the Deck and send it to the Hand.
Link Summon Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians using both your Wandering Gryphon Rider and Witchcrafter Schmietta on the Field with 6 Spell Counters.
Activate Selene, Queen of the Master Magician's Effect and use 3 Spell Counters to Special Summon Witchcrafter Madame Verre from your Hand onto the Field.
Activate Witchcrafter Schmietta's GY Effect to banish itself -> Search for Witchcrafter Genni from the Deck and send it to the GY.
Activate Witchcrafter Genni's GY Effect -> Banish itself and the Witchcrafter Creation in your GY -> Search for Witchcrafter Haine from the Deck and send it to your Hand.
Activate Selene, Queen of the Master Magician's Effect and use 3 Spell Counters to Special Summon Witchcrafter Haine from your Hand onto the Field.

This combo further extends the combo from earlier while adding a Selene, Queen of the Master Magician as well as a Witchcrafter Haine to your board.

The addition of Witchcrafter Haine will further protect your monsters via keeping them from being targeted by any and all card effects.

With Witchcrafter Madame Verre, you can reveal any number of Spell Cards in your hand to give any Spellcaster Monster of yours that battles an opponent's monster for it to gain 1000ATK/DEF for every card revealed during the damage calculation.
