Combines the strengths of both Gishki and Spright Centered around Level 2 Monsters Most of the Gishki monsters have no hard once-per-turn effects
|
The Gishki archetype are known for their Ritual Monsters, but the underrated part of them are their low level monsters in the Main Deck, who for the most part do not have once-per-turn clauses in their search effects.
To fix the low level monsters' vulnerability, the Spright Engine is added in to make use of those monsters and turn them into powerhouses.
There are only three regular Effect monsters for the "Gishki" archetype players have to consider, giving space to the rest of the Deck for the Spright Engine.
Two of the three Level 2 "Gishki" monsters searches out a crucial card for the combo; Gishki Abyss searches out a "Gishki" monster with 1000 DEF or less, Gishki Vision can search a "Gishki" Ritual Monster.
Gishki Grimness can Special Summon a "Gishki" monster straight from the Deck when summoned. Gishki Shadow can be discarded to search out a "Gishki" Ritual Spell card.
Crucially, Gishki Grimness, Gishki Shadow and Gishki Vision share the effect that they can be used as the entire tribute when Ritual Summoning a "Gishki" Ritual Monster.
The two Ritual Boss Monsters for this Deck both boast impressive ATK, and often can be a game-winner when on the Field.
Gishki Zielgigas can provide a free draw ever turn, and if the drawn card is a "Gishki" monster, it can shuffle a card from the Deck to the GY for free.
The newest addition is Evigishki Neremanas, which has a Special Summon effect upon being Ritual Summoned, and a monster negate effect to also shuffle its negated card back to the Deck.
The Spright Engine is a little less consistent now that Spright Jet has been made Limited, but the set of cards remain strong as ever. Any Level 2 monster on your side of the field allows these monsters to be Special Summoned from the hand once per turn.
Their effects are pretty simple:
Always run three copies each of Maxx "C" and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Their impact in Master Duel's meta is unparalleled to this day, and having them at maximum copies is mandatory until they get hit in some way in the banlist.
The Gishki archetype got a powerful searcher in Focused Aquamirror, which its search effect not having any once-per-turn restriction whatsoever. Banishing this card from the GY while controlling the "Gishki" monster can set a "Aquamirror" Spell/Trap from the Deck, which can be used to your advantage later in the Duel.
Spright Starter is the only "Spright" Spell Card needed for the Deck, as it's a combo piece that Special Summons a "Spright" monster from the Main Deck. Depending on what Spright monster is missing on the board, this card can fill in the missing piece.
Gishki Aquamirror provides a way to Ritual Summon your "Gishki" Ritual monsters. When in GY, it can shuffle itself back to the Deck, and recycles a "Gishki" Ritual monster from there back to your hand.
The newest addition, Gishki Nekromirror, is the game-changing Ritual Spell Card for the archtype. Though it makes the user lose LP based on the ATK of the Ritual Monster it summons, it can use any one monster the opponent controls to be the tribute fodder.
The rest of the Spell Cards are meant to support and protect the combos of your Deck. Book of Moon is becoming a common counter once again for Monsters with effects that trigger while they're on the field.
Called by the Grave and Triple Tactics Talent are cards that counter hand traps, either by banishing and negating them or providing a plethora of effects that benefit the player.
The Spright Engine is what helps the Gishki monsters from not being too locked into their Ritual-based playstyle, and provide them options in the Extra Deck. Just two Level 2 monsters is enough to summon Gigantic Spright, which can immediately open up the Spright Engine into monsters like Spright Elf and Spright Sprind.
Other Rank 2 Xyz monsters in the Extra Deck are staples in other variants of Decks that run the Spright Engine. Cards like Cat Shark and Sky Cavalry Centaurea provide additional offensive support, while Herald of Pure Light can shuffle cards back from the GY back to the Deck.
Number 29: Mannequin Cat can steal an opponent's monster from the GY, then provide another Special Summon from your side. Onibimaru Soul Sweeper can temporarily banish a monster from the Field that could be a disruption to your plays.
Since this Deck runs low-Rank Xyz Monsters, the classic combo of Downerd Magician and Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder is possible to run as a last resort to clear the field of all potential threats.
Other Link Monsters are classic staples for Decks that can run them. Knightmare Unicorn can bounce a card back to the hand from the Field. Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax is a powerful Link Monster in battle, and can be quite hard to get rid of.
The Link Monster with the highest Link Rating, Underworld Goddess of the Closed World, can make use of a monster the opponent controls as material, as well as negate Special Summons once per turn.
Gishki Grimness, as the newest addition to the Gishki archetype in Master Duel, has provided a way to Special Summon another Level 2 monster from the Deck. This combo can make full use of the Spright Engine.

Kashtira has now become a force to be reckoned with when going first thanks to the addition of Kashtira Arise-Heart. Gishki Spright might have a better shot if it goes first against this Deck.
Kashtira Deck List & Card Guide
Labrynth Decks have a lot of interrupts available at their disposal due to the Trap Cards it runs in the Deck Recipe. The omni-negate can mitigate some of their effects, but an onslaught of Trap Cards can be quite hard to break through.
Labrynth Deck List & Card Guide
Easily the most annoying Deck that players can encounter, this Deck is simply going against the meta with stuns, interrupts and floodgates. If this Deck manages to set up, it can be downright impossible to defeat them without clearing their back row.

Mikanko and their affinity to reflect battle damage using monsters with 0 ATK is one of the more frustrating Decks against Gishki Spright, especially if the latter has numerous Kaijus to summon for them to use as a beatstick.
