Budget Amorphage Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Amorphage is a control type archetype that limits your opponent's movements in the Duel.

Amorphage Monsters have effects that work either on the field or on the Pendulum Zones and pretty much lock your opponent from various actions in-game unless they too are using Amorphage Cards.

With Amorphage Monsters on the Field, your opponent won't be able to Special Summon from their Extra Deck, activate Spell/Trap Cards or even Monster Effects unless they're Amorphage Cards.

And given the current meta, the likelihood of your opponent playing Amorphage is incredibly slim, making this Deck pretty much broken.

Sample Combo

Sample Hand
Amorphage Gluttony Majespecter Raccoon - Bunbuku Amorphage Wrath Amorphage Wrath Pot of Riches
Step Description
Normal Summon Majespecter Raccoon - Bunbuku → Activate Majespecter Raccoon - Bunbuku's Effect and search for Majespecter Fox - Kyubi from the Deck and send it to the Hand.
P-Scale both Majespecter Fox - Kyubi and Amorphage Gluttony → Pendulum Summon your two Amorphage Wraths onto the Field.

Which at first glance looks like a very simple combo, you ultimately lock your opponent out of their Extra Deck just because you're controlling an Amorphage Monster on the Field.

And with Amorphage Gluttony on the Pendulum Zone, your opponent won't be able to activate any Monster Effects.

Both of this, assumes your opponent isn't playing Amorphage as well.

The only downside is that you'll have to Tribute a Monster every turn to keep your Amorphage Monster in the Pendulum Zone, to maintain its effect.

Simply lock your opponent out of various aspects of the Duel, and watch them Surrender shortly after.

Best Cards to Tech Against Budget Amorphage

Nibiru, the Primal Being
Nibiru, the Primal Being When users of a Pendulum decks begin their summoning spree, you can quickly tribute as many face-up monsters on the field, and summon this onto your opponent's field.
This will quickly disrupt them from doing any more summons or even stopping them from completing their Pendulum Summons & eventually, their Fusion Summons.
Lightning Storm
Lightning Storm With a majority of Aphormage Cards's effects coming from a combination of Aphormage Monsters in both the Pendulum Zone and on your Field, using cards like Lightning Storm to get rid of your opponent's Back Row will severely limit their effects.
Twin Twisters
Twin Twisters Similar to Lightning Storm destroying your opponent's Back Row is key.
Harpie's Feather Duster
Harpie Another card to destroy your opponent's Amorphage Deck's Back Row.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring This card can be quickly used to cancel specific effects that are at the core of Pendulum decks by discarding this card.

Back Row Clearing

This Budget Amorphage Deck relies on using the synergy between Amorphage Monsters on both the Pendulum and Monster Zones.

Using a combination of spells and traps to stop this synergy from happening will quickly put the duel in your favor.
