Eldlixir of Black Awakening
|
Eldlixir of Black Awakening acts as a Monster Reborn for your Eldlich the Golden Lord, but can also be one for Zombie-type monsters if you have an "Eldlich" monster in your Field on this Spell's activation. It can also banish itself from the GY to set up a "Golden Land" Trap Card straight from the Deck. |
|---|---|
Zombie World
|
Zombie World turns every monster on the field and Graveyard into Zombie-type monsters. It also doubles as a floodgate, preventing both players from Tribute Summoning a monster that is not a Zombie. |
Guardian of the Golden Land
|
Guardian of the Golden Land is another Continuous Trap Card that becomes a monster upon activation, much like Huaquero and Conquistador. When summoned while you have Eldlich the Golden Lord on the field, it can drain one monster's ATK that the opponent controls to 0. |
Zoma the Earthbound Spirit
|
Zoma the Earthbound Spirit becomes a Monster on the field upon activation, becoming a taunter that redirects all of the attacks of the opponent's monsters to itself. When destroyed by battle, it inflicts damage back to the opponent equal to double the monster's ATK. |
| Eldlich Play Style Tips |

|
・Have 1 Eldlich on the Field at All Costs ・Time Your Trap Cards Wisely ・Use Fallen Angel for Mad Golden Lord ・Floodgates and Interruptions ・Superdreadnought OTK Line |

Eldlich the Golden Lord is the main monster the entire Deck revolves around. Most of the Trap Cards need it to be on the field to trigger, especially the secondary ones from the Continuous Traps that become monsters.
It helps that it can resurrect itself from the GY, and it gains a boost in stats and immunity to card destruction effects until the end of the opponent's turn.

It is all about timing when using the Golden Land Trap Cards, as most of them need to have an Eldlich monster on the field, which for the most part will be the regular Eldlich the Golden Lord.
By having it on the field, Conquistador of the Golden Land can destroy a card and Huaquero of the Golden Land banishes a card from either GY. Golden Land Forever! also becomes active, and is the strongest Trap Card as it essentially acts like a Solemn Judgment or Solemn Strike depending on what it negates.

For that, you need to have ways to summon Eldlich on the field aside from its own resurrection effect. This is often where Eldlixir of Scarlet Sanguine comes into play, as it can Special Summon the Golden Lord straight from the Deck.
It can then banish itself from the GY to Set a Golden Land Spell or Trap. This is where you can now set the newly added Eldlixir of the Glorious Golden Land, whose effect can now make use of the banished Golden Land cards once per turn after paying the first-time activation fee of 800 LP.

Before, Eldlich the Mad Golden Lord was a little too clunky to summon due to it being a Fusion Monster. In a usual Eldlich Deck, unless you ran a copy or two of Super Polymerization, this card did not see the light of day in the Extra Deck.
Now, this boss monster was made a lot easier to summon with the addition of Fallen Angel of the Golden Land and its easy summoning conditions. All it needs now is to send Fallen Angel from Field to GY, and it can Special Summon an Eldlich Deck from the Deck, GY or more importantly, the Extra Deck.

As an Eldlich player, you want to be as annoying as possible by interrupting them in every possible way, whether it by floodgating conditions on the field or interrupting combos midway.
Eldlich is one of the many Decks that operate well under the Skill Drain floodgate, negating all monsters on the field. However, it does not disable its own effect of being immune to card destruction and stat boost. In addition, as you run so few monsters, Gozen Match's restrictions works quite as well for this Deck.

Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon can be used offensively and defensively. This allows your monsters to evade targeted effects once they're flipped face down. This also denies the opponent from using the monsters tthat were flipped face-down to be immediately used as materials for Synchro, Xyz and Link monsters.
Ice Dragon's Prison punishes Decks that only make use of one monster type. It effectively banishes two cards the opponents can make use of while in the GY or on the field. Just make sure not to use this against a Deck that likes having their cards b anished, like Maliss.

The Solemn archetype of Trap Cards are some of the strongest the game has to offer, and for good reason as all of them are Counter Trap Cards; the only thing that can stop them are lingering effects that negates all face-up Trap Cards on the field, or another Counter Trap Card.
Solemn Strike deals with monster effect activations, while Solemn Judgment will negate monster summons and/or activations of Spell and Trap Cards.

In the event that you have two Level 10 Monsters on the field and a game state where there are no more possible interruptions against you, players can just go for the Superdreadnought OTK strategy simply by summoning one Rank 10 Xyz Monster.
Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max deals 2000 LP as damage by detaching a card from itself. Then, Xyz Summon Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe and use its effect to boost its own attack to 6000 ATK, leading into an OTK attemp with exactly 8000 damage dealt in a single turn.
Mezuki
|
A Main Deck staple for Zombie-type Decks, Mezuki can banish itself from the GY to Special Summon one other Zombie monster there, which is also applicable to Eldlich the Golden Lord and its Fusion evolution, Eldlich the Mad Golden Lord. |
|---|---|
Book of Life
|
Book of Life is another Special Summon effect dedicated for Zombie-type archetypes, with the added effect of banishing a card the opponent has from their GY. Players can make use of this as something akin to Eldlich's various resurrection effects, or Monster Reborn. |
Monster Reborn
|
Speaking of Monster Reborn, this iconic Normal Spell Card is free to all players as part of Master Duel's initial tutorial. Every player will have this upon completion, and it can be used to resurrect Eldlich the Golden Lord to keep it on the field. |
Angel Statue - Azurune
|
With the Deck having Silhouhatte Rabbit as part of the Extra Deck, it also has the option to run its most common partner in the Main Deck, Angel Statue - Azurune. It can negate a summon while this Trap Card is on the field as a Monster, and can pop the monster that destroys this card in battle. |

Eldlich's strength is only highlighted when it has the Trap Cards to back it up. Unfortunately, outside of the Counter Trap Cards, Eldlich does not have anything much in terms of back row protection.
Board breakers are slowly gaining popularity as of late, so expect staples like Harpie's Feather Duster, Heavy Storm and Lightning Storm pop up to deny any interruptions, especially from Decks that like going Second in a Duel.

Eldlich, like most Zombies, really like being in the Graveyard to be able to revive themselves using some effect. Oftentimes, they will make use of their own effects to hit the field as soon as possible.
Cards like Called by the Grave and D.D. Crow will deny the summon and banish them--the one thing an Eldlich monster wants to be. For a cheekier option, Dimesnional Fissure will make sure that all monsters meant for the GY will be banished instead.

If destroying the Trap Cards before they activate is not an option, negating them certainly is. Among all the options, Jinzo is the cheekiest one as his presence on the field automatically negates all Trap Cards that are face-up on the field. Even Counter Traps will get negated while this monster is on the field, regardless of who owns the card.
With some of the Trap Cards becoming monsters or summoning an Eldlich, Dominus Impulse is a valid option so long as if you can handle the drawback from activating it from the hand. Red Reboot can also be activated from the hand, and denies any further Trap Card activations for the rest of the turn.
| Jinzo |
As mentioned earlier, Jinzo is the best monster to deal with Trap-heavy Decks, as its presence on the field automatically negates all face-up Trap Cards on the field. Its evolutions help out to leave its user unaffected, and there are new dedicated support cards meant to make summoning Jinzo easier. |
|---|---|
| Labrynth |
Labrynth has easily overtaken Eldlich as the best Trap-based Deck currently in the meta due to the sheer number of Trap Cards it can use compared to an Eldlich Deck. It does not help that one of the standard combos of a Labrynth Deck can rip a card from your hand during their turn, which immediately puts you in a disadvantage against them. |
| Fiendsmith Kashtira |
Kashtira is already pretty strong as is for their ability to punish monster effect activations, and if they go first they will surely try to get the Arise-Heart and Shangri-Ira combo to block your Card Zones. Combine that with the flexibility of the Fiendsmith Engine to get into Fiendsmith's Desirae for a targeted omni-negate, and it becomes even harder to deal with. |
| Gravekeeper |
The Gravekeepers are best known for their use of Necrovalley, one of the original floodgates that stops cards in the GY from leaving there to any other place in a Duel. This denies Eldlich from Special Summoning itself from the GY, and stops the Trap Cards from banishing themselves to Set Golden Land Trap Cards to be used on the next available instance. |
Necrovalley
|
As mentioned among the Best Decks, Necrovalley is great in stopping Eldlich's game plan that involves moving cards out of the GY to somewhere else. This includes the revival effect Eldlich the Golden Lord has, or the banish effects from the Trap Cards to search and/or set more Golden Land Trap Cards to be used later on. |
|---|---|
Macro Cosmos
|
Macro Cosmos banishes all cards that were meant to be sent to the GY so long as this Continuous Trap Card is face-up and active on the field. This denies the Trap Cards and Eldlich itself, and as of writing the only card that can retrieve the banished Golden Land cards is Eldlixir of the Glorious Golden Land. |
Artifact Lancea
|
Artifact Lancea denies both players from banishing cards for the rest of the turn, and this can only be done during the opponent's turn. This means during the turn, they cannot banish the Trap Cards in order to search for more Trap Cards. |
Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon
|
One of the best boss monsters to deal with Eldlich the Golden Lord is Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, due to its ability to boost its ATK when attacking against any monster that is Level 5 or higher. It can also negate monsters of the same nature, which means it can deny the Zombie monster's effect to send a card from the field to the GY. |
