Eldlich Deck Breakdown

Eldlich Control Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Eldlich the Golden Lord

Eldlich the Golden Lord is easily one of the best Decks in the early days of Master Duel, and Decks built around this Level 10 Zombie monster can still contend against a lot of the newer Decks in the current meta.

Lord of the Heavenly Prison Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring

Eldlich Control, as its name implies, aims to dominate the match by countering opponents with traps and spells while cycling Eldlich to and from the Graveyard to trigger its effects. Players can get creative with their trap and spell usage throughout the entire fight, as doing so can effectively cripple an opponent's win condition and make them think twice before pulling the trigger.

Searchers

There are only two other proper Monsters in the Extra Deck, and they serve a purpose for the rest of the Deck. Lord of the Heavenly Prison protects your Spells and Traps for the entirety of the opponent's turn by revealing itself in the hand.

Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring is a necessary addition, not only because of its Zombie typing as a monster, but also because of its hand trap effect that stops search effects and Graveyard trigger effects.

Pot of Extravagance Eldlixir of Black Awakening

The Extra Deck is rather secondary since they key to the entire Deck is the titular Eldlich the Golden Lord. Getting the cards needed is imporant to gain moment, thus Pot of Extravagance is the card of choice for extra draw power.

Another cheat card to get him on the field as soon as possible is Eldlixir of Black Awakening. If there are no "Eldlich" monsters on the field, you can directly Special Summon Eldlich directly from the Deck.

Conquistador of the Golden Land Huaquero of the Golden Land Eldlixir of Scarlet Sanguine

Most of the cards in an Eldlich Control Deck are Trap Cards, which serves as floodgates to disrupt the opponent's plays.

Conquistador of the Golden Land and Huaquero of the Golden Land become monster cards when activated, and gain effects like a targeted card destruction or banishing a card from the GY if an Eldlich the Golden Lord is on the field when activated and summoned. Both cards also have GY effects that recycle resources by banishing them.

Eldlixir of Scarlet Sanguine is a free Special Summon of Eldlich from either the Deck or GY, and can be banished from the GY to set a "Golden Land" Spell or Trap directly from the Deck.

Floodgates

Anti-Spell Fragrance Evenly Matched Skill Drain

The rest of the Trap Cards serve as a way to slow down the Duel to your pace, with floodgate upon floodgate that usually stops the combo-heavy Decks. Anti-Spell Fragrance can delay any Spell Cards that can stop the floodgate, while Skill Drain deals with all monster effects that trigger on the field.

There Can Be Only One is a counter against Decks that swarm the field with monsters of different types, so long as it's active on the field. Meanwhile, Evenly Matched can safely force the opponent in removing and banishing cards from the field face-down. When timed right, a field full of cards can become only one card left.

Extra Deck

Eldlich the Mad Golden Lord Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe Accesscode Talker

The Main Deck is plenty strong in of itself, but there are options for the Deck to add in their Extra Deck for a quick pivot of playstyle. The player can flex some cards around depending on their taste and preference, but some key cards are noteworthy.

Eldlich the Mad Golden Lord is essentially a super version of the regular "Eldlich" monster, and is much harder to remove from the field. Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max can deal burn damage, then transition into Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe as an OTK combo. Accesscode Talker is a given if there is a LINK-3 monster as an option.

Core Combos and Interactions

Double Eldlich + Gustav Max OTK

This combo will only work if your opponent is open to direct attacks and has 8000 HP or lower.

1 Have one Eldlich on the board and another one in your Graveyard. Make sure you have a trap on the board as well.
2 Special summon the second Eldlich with your trap.
3 Directly attack with both of them.
4 Enter Main Phase 2 and tribute both Eldliches for Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max.
5 Activate Gustav's effect to finish your opponent off.
Gems Tip! Always be mindful of negate effects from cards such as Skill Drain and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! These cards can make you lose control of the board at a moment's notice.

Conquistador/Huaquero + Double Eldlich Combo

This is a staple combo that showcases the synergy between Eldlich and its Zombie traps: Conquistador and Huaquero of the Golden Land. Players can take or maintain control of the board via destroying opponents monsters with Conquistador, or banishing important cards from the graveyard through Huaquero.

1 Have at least one Eldlich on the Field and one on your Graveyard.
2 Special Summon Conquistador or Huaquero after setting them the previous round. Activate Conquistador to destroy or Huaquero to banish.
3 Special Summon your second Eldlich from the graveyard by tributing either zombie.
4 Attack with Eldliches as necessary. You can activate either zombie's Graveyard effect during the next turn's End Phase.

Boss Monsters

Eldlich the Golden Lord
Eldlich the Golden Lord Eldlich the Golden Lord can become very difficult for opponents to deal with because of the many ways the Deck has to get this Zombie back onto the field. Resources will definitely be wasted trying to get rid of this monster.
Eldlich the Mad Golden Lord
Eldlich the Mad Golden Lord The Fusion Monster version of the titular monster ius often done when the opportunity rises, Eldlich the Mad Golden Lord is even harder to remove from the field, indestructible through battle and card effects. It also has the ability to steal the opponent's monsters once per turn.
Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max & Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe
Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max can be considered an option should two Level 10 monsters end up on the field. Usually coming in tandem with Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe, this Xyz Monster provides a free 2000 burn damage to the opponent for free, and can transition into Liebe afterwards.
Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder
Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder A classic transition for Xyz monsters, Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder is a great floodgate against Decks that need to put a lot of cards on the field. All it needs to get on the field is for an Xyz Monster that attacked during the Battle Phase, and use it and its attached materials.
Vampire Fascinator
Vampire Fascinator Vampire Fascinator steals Special Summons an opponent's monster in the GY once per turn, upon being Link Summoned. It does the same to a monster on the field once per turn, by tributing a fellow "Vampire" monster.
Accesscode Talker
Accesscode Talker If a player can play a LINK-3 monster, Accesscode Talker is always an option. The ATK Boost is very dangerous, as well as its ability to destroy cards on the field that cannot be responded with by opponent's cards and effects. When this card is on the field, the endgame has arrived.

Budget Eldlich Control: F2P Friendly

YGO Master Duel - Budget Eldlich Deck Guide Banner

Eldlich Control decks may seem extremely expensive to craft at first, but there are surprisingly good replacements for most of the SR and UR cards on our decklist. The Extra Deck can be trimmed down to seven key cards + eight fillers, while strong control cards like Infinite Impermanence and Harpie's Feather Duster can be replaced with Rare alternatives.

It is important to note that Budget Eldlich decks tend to lose some of the possible combos that non-budget versions do, resulting in key differences in playstyle depending on which cards you replaced.

Best Decks to Use Against Eldlich Control

Branded Despia

Master Duel - Branded Despia Top Image

Branded Despia is strong all around, both defensively and offensively, and can be as imposing as Eldlich Control's various floodgates. It also has a lot of effects that trigger in the GY, which the Deck really hates dealing with.

Branded Fusion Decks
Branded Tri-Brigade Branded Despia
Branded Cyber Dragon Branded Zombies
Branded Ishizu Branded Dragonmaids

Runick Control

:Master Duel - Runick Top Image

The best way to stop an Eldlich Control Deck is to not let them draw the key cards they need at all. Runick's style of banishing cards straight from the Deck denies them those cards, on top of punishing them from having presence on the field.

Gravekeeper's

Master Duel - Gravekeepers Top Image

Gravekeepers lock down the GY, preventing any card that goes in there from moving somewhere else like the hand or Deck. It also prevents cards from altering their type and attribute; something as a noteworthy contigency if players run something like Zombie World.

True Draco

Master Duel - True Draco

True Draco Decks are often considered to be meta-breakers in the current state of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. Eldlich decks tend to struggle against them due to how easy it is for True Draco decks to stay on the board with its continuous spells, traps, and monster effects. Banishing these cards is often ineffective because there are so many cogs in the machine that an Eldlich deck can barely deal with the pressure.

Best Cards to Tech Against Eldlich Control

Harpie's Feather Duster
Harpie One way to beat an Eldlich deck is to keep its Back Row as clean as possible. This prevents important combos that involve Eldlich from happening, making Harpie's Feather Duster is one of the best cards for the job.
Evenly Matched
Evenly Matched Evenly Matched is a great Trap card to run against Eldlich decks since they aim to clear side of the board as much as possible. Triggering it at the right time can result in your opponent banishing his own Eldlich!
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring is a very strong card card against Eldlich decks because they can easily trigger any of its required effects, which can potentially ruin combos from happening.
Cosmic Cyclone
Cosmic Cyclone Cosmic Cylcone is a great way to deal with the cripping Spell & Trap Zones that Eldlich decks tend to roll with. Players can snipe key traps such as Eldlixir of Scarlet Sanguine and either zombie traps, preventing their Graveyard effects
Lightning Storm
Lightning Storm Another is great for wiping traps, Lightning Storm is great to have whenever an Eldlich deck completely wipes your board.
D.D. Crow
D.D. Crow Eldlich decks gain a lot of value off the Graveyard — this is where D.D. Crow comes in. Activating its effect when Eldlich is in the graveyard can spell disaster for your opponent.
Ice Dragon's Prison
Ice Dragon Ice Dragon's Prison is an amazing card against Eldlich since an Eldlich player usually has one Eldlich on the field and another in the Graveyard most of the time. This card can banish both of them if used at the right time, effectively killing whatever plans and synergies your opponent might have.
Dimensional Fissure
Dimensional Fissure Players who use decks that aren't GY-reliant can use Dimensional Fissure to deal with Eldlich! This card immediately banishes cards that are sent to the Graveyard, stopping an Eldlich deck in its tracks unless it can find a way to remove Dimensional Fissure.
Abyss Dweller
Abyss Dweller Those who use XYZ-centric decks can consider adding Abyss Dweller against Eldlich decks. This card can prevent Graveyard effects for a turn with it's XYZ effect. It's a quick effect too, making it even more troublesome for an Eldlich player.
Fallen of Albaz
Fallen of Albaz This particular monster is a menace against Eldlich Control because it make use of nearly every monster this Deck has, even Eldlich itself as Fusion Material. Look out for Fallen of Albaz and be ready to negate its effect if you're up against a Branded Fusion player.
