Budget Crusadia Breakdown

Budget Crusadia Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

The Crusadia archetype encourages Link Climbing, a strategy involving Special Summoning monster after monster to Link Summon monsters to get to the Link Monsters with higher Link Rating. In this case, the idea is to get to Crusadia Equimax as quickly as possible. The Deck is flexible as an Aggro Deck, but players will be surprsed to learn about its potential to do an OTK.

Crusadia Arboria Crusadia Draco Crusadia Leonis Crusadia Maximus Crusadia Reclusia

The Main Deck Crusadia Monsters all share the effect that once per turn, they can be Special Summoned to a Monster Zone pointed at by a Crusadia Link Monster. This encourages the ability to Link Climb and get into the Link Monsters with the highest Link Rating.

These monsters are also crucial to give the Link Monsters the offensive support it needs to go up against boss monsters or straight-up deal lethal damage. The most potent effects are Crusadia Leonis who can grant the Link Monster piercing battle damage, and Crusadia Maximus makes the monster it gives its effect to deal double damage.

Crusadia Magius Crusadia Regulex Crusadia Spatha Crusadia Equimax

The second part of the Crusaida engine are the Crusadia Link Monsters themselves. The main goal is to have Crusadia Equimax out on the field, and to have monsters pointing at its To get there, the other Link Monsters are sort of stepping stones to get there.

The Link Monsters with the lower Link Ratings have effects that trigger when you Special Summon a Crusadia monster onto the Monster Zone they point at with their Link Markers. Crusadia Magius helps with card efficiency and searches out a Crusadia Monster card, Crusadia Spatha lets you move a monster away from the Zone it points to, and Crusadia Regulex adds a Crusadia Spell Card if its effect triggers.

Parallel eXceed Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju World Legacy - "World Crown" World Legacy - "World Lance"

In assisting the ability to do Link Summons, Kaijus and World Legacy cards are added in to augment power. In an ideal situation, Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju is Summoned to the opponent's side on the field, and you can summon Thunder King, the Lightningstrike Kaiju to one of the Zones pointed at by Crusadia Equimax.

Parallel eXceed is an engine in of its own, Special Summoning itself after a Link Summon and then Special Summon anoher copy of itself afterwards. Players can make use of this for another Link Summon, or transition it into an Xyz Summon play.

Core Combos and Interactions

Double Damage OTK Combo

Possible Cards On Hand
Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju Crusadia Maximus Crusadia Leonis Crusadia Revival
1 If your opponent has monster son the field, Tribute which one you think is the most problematic Monster Card and Summon Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju on the opponent's side on the field. Make sure to place it in front of the Extra Monster Zone you will use to Link Summon.
2 Normal Summon Crusadia Maximus; afterwards, use it as material to Link Summon Crusadia Magius.
3 Special Summon Crusadia Leonis to the Monster Zone pointed to by Crusadia Magius. This triggers the effect of the Link Monster; search out a copy of Crusadia Draco to add to the hand.
4 Using the LINK-1 Crusadia Magius and Crusadia Leonis as materials, Link Summon LINK-2 Crusadia Regulex. Make sure it is pointing to the Gamecial you Summoned at the opponent's side of the field.
5 Special Summon Crusadia Draco to the Monster Zone pointed to by Crusadia Regulex. This triggers both their effects so chain them how you wish. Due to their effects, return the Crusadia Maximus that was used earlier to the hand, and search out a copy of Crusadia Testament.
6 Activate Crusadia Testament. This should protect your monster's effects from being negated for the rest of the turn.
7 Using the LINK-2 Crusadia Regulex and Crusadia Draco as materials, Link Summon LINK-3 Crusadia Equimax to the same Extra Monster Zone.
8 By its own effect, Special Summon Crusadia Maximus from the hand to one of the Monster Zones Crusadia Equimax points to. Then, activate its second effect to grant the Link Monster the ability to deal double damage when attacking.
8 Because there is a Kaiju on the opponent's side of the Field, Special Summon Thunder King, the Lightningstrike Kaiju to the other unoccupied Monster Zone pointed to by Crusadia Equimax.
9 Activate the effect of Crusadia Revival, and grant Crusadia Equimax the ability to attack all monsters once each for this turn.

Boss Monsters

Crusadia Equimax
Crusadia Equimax Crusadia Equimax is the most important card for thtis Deck to work. With the Deck's ability to Link Climb, this card can be brought out in one turn with a very good hand. In addition, its ATK rises based on the ATK for the monsters this card is pointing to with its Link Markers.
Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon
Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon While the Deck might not have any Pendulum Monsters in the Deck list, Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon is still a very good addition for the Extra Deck. While this monster is currently active on the field, the opponent cannot use their monsters' effects during the Battle Phase, giving an opening for Equimax to attack without trouble.
Firewall eXceed Dragon
Firewall eXceed Dragon Firewall eXceed Dragon has its ATK boosted whenever a Link Monster points to this card, and in turn, it inadvertedly boosts the ATK of Crusadia Equimax when summoned on one of the Zones pointed by the Link Monster. If you decide to give this Deck a LINK-4 monster, and it is sitting in the Graveyard, you can Special Summon it back to your field.
Number 70: Malevolent Sin
Number 70: Malevolent Sin Another monster which can boost the ATK of Crusadia Equimax, Number 70: Malevolent Sin increases both ATK and Rank each time it manages to launch an attack. It also provides some control onto the field by temporarily banishing a monster the opponent controls until the end of the turn.

Best Decks to Use Against Budget Crusadia

Eldlich Control

YGO Master Duel - Eldlich Control Deck Guide Banner.png

Control Decks are the bane for Crusadia's attempts to mount a powerful offense. Eldlich Control Decks have numerous choices for trap and floodgates that will make it harder for this Deck to fulfill its win condition. Unless you upgrade this Deck to deal with Eldlich's various disruptions, it will be a hard Duel to win against.

DPE Scythe

DPE-Scythe Top Image.png

As of writing, there is no better engine in the game right now than the Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer/Artitfact Scythe lockout combo. This specific engine can be run by any Deck, but building one around the combo takes it to a whole new level. Crusadia players have to play around and get past DPE's card destruction Quick Effect, otherwise the Fusion Monster will keep reviving itself and destroying cards every turn.

Best Cards to Tech Against Budget Crusadia

Summon Limit
Summon Limit By virtue of the Deck's Link Climbing strategy, bottlenecking its ability to Special Summon will cripple Crusadias easily. Summon Limit will affect you too in limiting all kinds of Summons to only two per turn, but it will effectively neutralize the efficiency of the Extra Deck.
Infinite Impermanence
Infinite Impermanence Infinite Impermanence negates a monster's effect, and it can be used on the first turn the Crusadia Deck goes second. On top of that, an unaware Duelist would likely forget where they used the Trap Card. One wrong placement, and the Spell or Trap Card they used will end up having their effect negated.
Skill Drain
Skill Drain The Crusadies need their effects to trigger in order for their Link Climbing strategy to work. Skill Drain will mess up the combo very much, and especially the possible lethal damage once Crusadia Equimax is on the field with its Link Markers pointing at Monster Cards.
Magic Cylinder
Magic Cylinder Magic Cylinder might be an unorthodox choice for a counter, but this relies on the Crusadia user not being able to wipe the back row, especially with two copies of Mystical Space Typhoon in the Deck. If the Crusadia Deck player manages to get Equimax up on the field with monsters pointing to all three of its Link Monsters, the damage will backfire and they will end up OTK'ing themselves.
