| Aratama and Sakitama | |
|---|---|
|
|
As the Heraldic Beasts are focusing on Rank 4 Xyz Monsters, Aratama and Sakitama can open up by Normal Summoning each other. These two cards are common for Decks that make heavy use of Rank 4 Xyz monsters, much like Ryzeal and Exosister. |
| Seventh Tachyon | |
|
|
Seventh Tachyon is a great searcher for monsters, especially if the Rank associated has a Number Xyz monster. For Rank 4-centric Decks like a Heraldic Beast Deck, players would have to slot in Number 104: Masquerade in the Extra Deck. One can make a case that this card can easily be slotted into the Deck. |
| Number 39: Utopia | |
|
|
The Utopia archetype are the original Rank 4 Xyz Monster archetype, and at the center of it all is Number 39: Utopia. With some space in both the Main Deck and Extra Deck, players can build a more aggressive version of the Deck that uses cards like the Utopic Xyz Monsters or Double or Nothing! |
| Lightning Storm | |
|
|
If the Heraldic player thinks that he might be going second more against Decks like Ryzeal, a great option to have on hand is Lightning Storm, which can destroy the backrow and Field Spell. They can also wipe out all of the opponent's monsters in Atack Position. |

Heraldic Beasts have had quite the history in Yu-Gi-Oh, before Master Duel. It never really got support for the longest time, until recent times where legacy supports were given to older and unsupported archetypes.
![]() |
![]() |
It only had two boss monsters that did not do much by themselves: Number 18: Heraldry Patriarch with its first effect had a condition too specific to be used; and Number 69: Heraldry Crest is only strong on Xyz Monsters that had effects.
Now, the new support and boss monster enables the archetype not just as a standalone Deck, but it can also supplement more archetypes that specialize in Rank 4 Xyz Monsters.

![]() |
Back then, the only usable cards for the Deck were Heraldic Beast Aberconway and Heraldic Beast Amphisbaena, both try to let the deck get card advantage.
Aberconway can banish itself from the GY to recycle a monster from there. Amphisbaena is a combo starter and extender that can Special Summon itself from the hand.

With the new monsters added in, they can do much more and can access their Xyz Monsters much more easily. All of the newer cards were made to get cards either on hand or on the field.
Heraldic Beast Gryphon can Foolish Burial another Heraldic Beast to Special Summon itself from the hand, and can act as two materials for an Xyz Monster that needs 3 or more. This is where you will send Heraldic Beast Leo to the GY, which you need to search out the other new monster.
That monster is Heraldic Beast Stad Whale, which can discard a card to add 2 Heraldry Spells or Traps from the Deck.

As of Xyz Monsters, both of the newer Xyz Monster need that 1 copy of Heraldry Crest in the Extra Deck. That monster on the field can be used as immediate material to summon its retrain, Number 69: Heraldry Crest - Shatter Stream. For its effect, it can Xyz Summon itself to its stronger retrain and negate monster's effect or attack on the field.
This leads into Number 69: Heraldry Crest - Dark Matter Demolition. This is one of two cards in the game that can change a card's name into Unknown. Then, while this monster is on the field, all monsters named Unknown will have their effects negated.

Two main Spell Cards help enable the Deck's playstyle with Rank 4 Xyz Monsters. Charged-Up Heraldry Special Summons 2 monsters in a single instance, but then it locks you into only Psychic-type and Machine-type mosnters for the rest of the turn.
Even more important is Advanced Heraldry Art, which not only Special Summons 2 Heraldic Beasts from the GY, but it also Xyz Summons using those two monsters, only if it can.
The Flash of Heraldry Spell Card is the other card that can change a monster's name into Unknown. It can Set itself again from the GY when you control a Psychic-type Xyz Monster, but it gets banished after its next use.
| Needed Card(s) on Hand | |
|---|---|
| Step | Description |
| 1 | Activate Heraldic Beast Gryphon from the hand; send Heraldic Beast Leo from deck to the GY hand, and Special Summon itself from the hand. Then, trigger Leo's effect from the GY; add Heraldic Beast Stad Whale to the hand. |
| 2 | Normal Summon Heraldic Beast Stad Whale, and activate its effect on Summon; discard a card you have on hand, then add Charged Up Heraldry and Flash of Heraldry to the hand. Stad Whale cannot use this effect if you do not have anything to discard during this effect's activation. |
| 3 | Using Heraldic Beast Gryphon and Heraldic Beast Stad Whale as materials, Xyz Summon Number 18: Heraldry Patriarch. Then, activate Charged Up Heraldry by tributing the newly-summoned Heraldry Patriarch; Special Summon from the Deck another copy of Gryphon and Heraldic Beast Aberconway. |
| 4 | After being sent to the GY, trigger the effect of Number 18: Heraldry Patriarch; send another copy of of your Heraldic Beast monsters (both Gryphon and Aberconway) from the Deck to the GY. |
| 5 | Using Heraldic Beast Aberconway and Heraldic Beast Gryphon as material, Xyz Summon Number 69: Heraldic Crest. This triggers Crest's effect and negates all other Xyz Monsters on the field after its summon. |
| 6 | Activate the effect of Heraldic Beast Stad Whale from the GY; banish itself, then summon two copies of Heraldic Beasts you had in your GY with the same name (either Gryphon or Aberconway). |
| 7 | Using the two copies of either Gryphon or Aberconway as material, Xyz Summon Time Thief Redoer. |
| 8 | Using the Number 69: Heraldry Crest already on your field, Xyz Summon using itself and transfer its materials into Number 69: Heraldry Crest - Shatter Stream. Set the Flash of Herladry you have on hand. Then, pass your turn. |
| 9 | When your opponent uses a monster's effect on the field, activate the effect of Number 69: Heraldic Crest - Shatter Stream; using itself as material, Xyz Summon using itself and transfer its materials into Number 69: Heraldry Crest - Dark Matter Demolition. Then, negate that monster's effect and destroy said monster. |

| Number 69: Heraldry Crest - Dark Matter Demolition | |
|---|---|
|
|
Number 69: Heraldry Crest - Dark Matter Demolition is cheated out in this Deck thanks to the effect of its other retrain, Shatter Stream. This monster has one of the most unique effects in a game, targeting a face-up monster and changing its name into Unknown. Then, all monsters with that name will have their effects negated so long as this Xyz Monster is face-up and active on the field. |
| Full Armored Dark Knight Lancer | |
|
|
With the help of the Full-Armor Xyz engine, Full Armored Dark Knight Lancer gets stronger for each material and Equip card attacked to this monster. It can also absorb a monster on the field into itself as material whenever this card gets an Equip Card to itself. |
| Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder | |
|
|
Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder is more of a last resort among the Xyz Monsters, using one of them and their materials to summon this card. Its field-clearing effect has no once-per-turn clause, meaning it can keep using its effect so long as it has two cards to detach from itself. |

Currently, Maliss is the single best Deck in the meta from its profiency in getting card advantage by banishing its own cards. It also make use of effects and combos in both player's turn, and is extremely efficient in getting into their boss monsters. Most dangerous is White Binder and Hearts Crypter for their banishing effectsg.
It only got even more options with the Regeneration of Stars Selection Pack getting the @Ignister support. Expect this tgo be a very rough match-up as a Heraldic Beast if you go second against Maliss.
Maliss Deck Guide and Card List

Going up againstg Ryzeal will depend on who gets a better set up, and who goes first. Ryzeal already has an extremely strong set-up with Ryzeal Detonator and Ryzeal Cross.
Heraldic Beast has a chance thanks to the original Number 69: Heraldry Crest. When this is Special Summoned, it negates every other Xyz Monster on the field.

Tearlaments does have the habit of milling cards from the Deck to the GY. Depending on the situation, they can also mill the opponent's cards, which can be detrimental for Heraldic Beasts even with their GY effects triggering.
If they mill more enabling cards like Advanced Heraldy Art and Charged-Up Heraldry, they cannot get materials on the field for an Xyz Summon. Likewise, their strongest field is hard to break once they have their boss monsters like Tearlaments Rulkallos, Baronne de Fleur and Apollousa active.
Tearlaments Deck List & Card Guide

Necrovalley shuts down GY effects and Advanced Heraldy Art, alongside other effects that move cards from the GY to anywhere else. Further debilitating the Heraldic Beasts are the floodgate effects that some of the cards the archetype have.
For example, Hidden Temples of Necrovalley prevents Special Summons of non-Gravekeeper monsters, Gravekeeper's Shaman stops effects in the GY, and Gravekeeper's Inscription can stop one way to get card advantage out of three options.
Gravekeepers Deck List & Card Guide
| Lava Golem | |
|---|---|
|
|
Lava Golem can tribute two monsters away from the opponent's field to Special Summon itself there in the same place. This means it can whisk away cards like Bagooska and crucially Heraldry Crest - Dark Matter Demolition, removing their lingering effects from the field. Other cards can work in tandem with Lava Golem, like the Kaijus and The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode. |
| Skill Drain | |
|
|
So long as Skill Drain remains face-up and active on the field, all monsters on the fielld will not be able to use their effects. This neutralizes all of the boss monsters the Deck has, including Dark Matter Demolition and Dark Knight Lancer from activating their effects. |
| Necrovalley | |
|
|
A lot of the Heraldic Beast cards love moving cards out of the GY for their effects, like Advanced Heraldry Art and Heraldic Beast Aberconway. With Necrovalley as an active Field Spell, banishing, shuffling or recycling cards from the GY are not allowed with cards there essentially being on lockdown. |
| Vanity's Ruler | |
|
|
With the amount of Control Decks that can do Special Summons to control the field, expect them to Tribute Summon monsters with floodgate effects. The most prominent one will be Vanity's Ruler, which prevents the user's opponent from Special Summoning monster. |
| Altered Heraldry | Legacy Pack |
| Master Pack | Nebula Cyclone |
| Number Recall | Origin of the Galaxy |
| Overlay of Obsidian Armor | Regeneration of Stars |
