Exosister Breakdown

Exosister Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

The Exosisters have a particular balance in swarming the field to maintain presence, and then using the monsters to bring out the boss monsters with powerful effects. The twist is that the boss monsters are extremely powerful against any monsters that were Special Summoned in the Graveyard.

Think of their playstyle as a counter-punch strategy against Graveyard-heavy Decks. They have the means to conduct Xyz Summons and debilitate the opponent the moment even 1 card from their Graveyard gets moved somewhere else in the game state.

Main Deck Monsters

Exosister Elis Exosister Sophia Exosister Stella Exosister Irene

The four Main Deck Exosisters are relatively low in stats, but their effects that trigger if there are fellow Exosister monsters on the field are what makes them very potent in getting the Deck going. Elis can be Special Summoned from the hand, Stella can Special Summon another Exosister monster from the hand, and both Irene and Sophia can provide a free draw.

They also all share the same effect of being able to Xyz Summon with them being materials, should the opponent move a card from the Graveyard to anywhere else--be it shuffled back to the Deck, recycled back to the hand, a monster being Special Summoned, or being Banished outright. However, that doesn't mean the effect has to come from them.

Exosister Martha

The addition of Exosister Martha provides the Deck with a powerful one-card opener that can immediately start the turn with an Xyz summon play, providing additional aggression. This newly-added monster also provides a way to Xyz Summon at nearly any point of the Duel if a card is moved out of the GY.

Maxx "C" Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Dimension Shifter

Staples have space for this Deck, with Maxx "C" and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring being essential cards in the current meta. Dimension Shifter banishes all cards to the GY for its handtrap effect, and can be used at the very start of the Duel to discourage the opponent from going wild with combos.

Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame

Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame can Special Summon Level 4 Spellcasters from the GY, which is a nice little engine to get a Spellcaster on the field for an Exosister Xyz Monster summon down the line.

Spell and Trap Cards

Exosister Pax Exosister Vadis Exosister Returnia

The various Exosister support cards helps out in making the strategy go faster. Pax adds an Exosister card from the Deck to the hand, or Special Summon if an Exosister monster was added, while Vadis Special Summons multiple Exosister monsters.

Exosister Returnia is a new addition that banishes a card from the opponent's GY, and provides a free Xyz Summon immediately after effect resolution. It can also banish another card they control as an alternate choice.

Called by the Grave Triple Tactics Talent Dark Ruler No More

Players can cheat the GY strategy if the opponent does not plan on moving cards out of the Graveyard by doing it yourself. A lot of cards can do this in the current meta, but Called by the Grave synergizes well with the Deck's counter play.

Triple Tactics Talents is a great card to go against handtraps, providing even more card advantage. Meanwhile, Dark Ruler No More effectively negates all the opponent's monster effects, sacrificing the ability to deal damage for the rest of the turn afterwards--especially great against the Spright meta.

Evenly Matched Infinite Impermanence

The two Trap Cards are there to protect and control the field. Evenly Matched safely clears out the opponent's entire field when timed right and banishing the cards face-down, and Infinite Impermanence deals with pesky monster effects that trigger on the field.

Extra Deck Monsters

Exosister Asophiel Exosister Gibrine Exosister Kaspitell Exosister Mikailis

All of the main Exosister Xyz Monsters share the same effect that they cannot be destroyed by either monsters' attacks or effects that were Special Summoned from the Graveyard. They also gain additional effects if they were Xyz Summoned using an Exosister monster as material:

Mikailis can target a card to be banished once per turn
Kaspitell negates the Special Summon of monsters from the GY for the turn
Gibrine can negate one of the opponent's monsters' effects
Asophiel negates effects from the Graveyard.

They also have their own regular Xyz effects that further provides advantage such as searching out cards from the Deck, boosting the ATK for Xyz Monsters, and bouncing a monster the opponent controls to go back to the hand.

Exosisters Magnifica.PNG

The newest addition that changes the Deck's playstyle is Exosisters Magnifica. Needing two Exosister Xyz Monsters as material, this card can attack twice per Battle Phase, and can banish a monster the opponent controls. As a Quick Effect, it can also Xyz Summon a copy of the monster this card detaches back to the Extra Deck using itself and attached cards as materials.

Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir Ninaruru, the Magistus Glass Goddess Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians Accesscode Talker

The rest of the Extra Deck can be split between offense, defence and support. Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir is a great floodgate against Effect Monsters, while Ninaruru, the Magistus Glass Goddess is mainly used as a combo mentioned above with Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame.

Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians works as the Exosister archetype are Spellcaster monsters, while Accesscode Talker is a must-have card if there is even one LINK-3 monster in the Extra Deck.

Core Combos and Interactions

Exosister Martha Combo

This is the Deck's newest basic combo, as with the introduction of Exosister Martha, players basically have the archetype's full combo. If you so happen to have Exosister Pax on hand, more often than not, Martha is your target to search.

Card(s) Needed
Exosister Martha
+ 1 "Exosister" monster
Step Description
1 Activate Exosister Martha from the hand; Special Summon it onto the field, and through this effect, Special Summon a copy of Exosister Elis from the Deck.
Then, using these two monsters as materials, Xyz Summon Exosister Kaspitell.
2 Activate the effects of Exosister Kaspitell; for the rest of the turn after being Xyz Summoned, both players cannot Special Summon monsters from the GY.
Activate its second effect; search out a copy of Exosister Stella.
3 Normal Summon Exosister Stella, then activate its effect to Special Summon an "Exosister" monster from the hand.
Then, using these two monsters as materials, Xyz Summon Exosister Mikailis.
4 Activate the effect of Exosister Mikailis; detach one material from this monster, then search out a copy of Exosister Returnia to add to the hand.
5 Using Exosister Kaspitell and Exosister Mikailis as materials, Xyz Summon Exosisters Magnifica.
6 OPTIONAL: If there is a card on the opponent's side of the field, you can activate Exosisters Magnifica's effect; detach one material from this monster, and banish 1 card the opponent controls.

Stella and Elis +1 Combo

+ 1 "Exosister" monster
Step Description
1 Normal Summon Exosister Stella; use its effect to Special Summon the other "Exosister" monster that is not Exosister Elis..

Activate its second effect; search out a copy of Exosister Martha.
4 Activate the effect of Exosister Martha from the hand; Special Summon it onto the field, and through this effect, Special Summon a second copy of Exosister Elis from the Deck.

Boss Monsters

Exosisters Magnfica
Exosisters Magnifica With the release of the Sprites of Miracle Selection Pack, Exosisters Magnifica is now the Deck's new ace monster. It's able to attack twice per Battle Phase, and can banish a card the opponent controls, but its true strength is being able to Xyz Summon an "Exosister" monster as a Quick Effect, summoning the best monster against certain scenarios by using itself and attached cards as materials.
Exosister Mikailis
Exosister Mikailis Exosister Mikailis is the main Exosister Xyz Mosnter that players need to get out on the field at the most crucial time. It cannont be destroyed by monsters that were Special Summoned from the Graveyard, has an ability to search an Exosister Spell/Trap, and it can target a card on the field to Banish.
Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder
Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder After attacking with an Xyz Monster with complete materials attached, Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder is a complete board wipe that can be triggered even on the opponent's turn. The better part of the effectt is thatt it only sends all that cards to the GY, not destroy them.
Accesscode Talker
Accesscode Talker A classic staple for Decks that can add a LINK-3 monster in the Extra Deck, Acesscode Talker is a very potent boss monster that ends games more often than not. Using the LINK-3 monster in Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians as material for this, it can enjoy a 3000 ATK boost, and one free card destruction.

Exosister Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Exosister

Igknights OTK

Igknights OTK Top Image.png

Currently the most consisten OTK strategy in Master Duel, Igknights OTK will not let go of even a single advantage if they manage to go first against Exosisters. For players that are still cautious about this dangerous Deck, have some hand traps that can stop their strategy before they can fully commit.

Igknights OTK Deck Guide

Relinquished

Relinquished Deck Banner.png

Relinquished Decks do not need to use the Graveyard, as most of their playstyle revolve resources on hand to get certain Extra Deck and Ritual Monsters out on the field to absorb the Exosisters' boss monsters. Take care in going up against this unorthodox strategy, and keep up the offensive so they do not keep absobing monsters.

Relinquished Deck Guide

Gravekeepers

Gravekeepers Top Image.png

One of the best ways to counter a Graveyard lockdown playstyle, is another Graveyard lockdown playstyle. The Exosisters need movement from the opponent's Graveyard to get their advanatges, but the Gravekeepers prefer to lock it down and prevent any cards from leaving. This becomes a stalemate on which GY-blocking strategy gets to set up first.

Gravekeepers Deck Guide

Branded Despia

Branded Despia Top Image

Branded Despia is still far too powerful of a Deck against any strategy in the current meta. It has options for just about every scenario, even if it manages to move cards out of the Graveyard, which can be very problematic against an Exosister Deck.

Spright

Master Duel - Spright Top Image

As of writing, Sprights is the meta-defining Deck, with its flexibility with other extremely powerful Decks & archetypes, and its ability to easily Special Summon and control the field. Beating this Deck with Exosisters will all have to come down to luck, if they do not have a powerful hand and yours with multiple bricks.

Best Cards to Tech Against Exosister

Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju
Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju Kaijus in general are a menace to most Extra Deck monsters, and the same can still be said against the Exosisters archeype. Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju remains the best Kaiju to give to the opponent for having the lowest ATK.
Vanity's Emptiness
Effect Veiler Most of the Exosister Boss monsters trigger their effects while on the field, especially during the Main Phase. Effect Veiler can stop most of the effects that trigger that way, and can stop combos mid-way with this hand trap.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring In terms of searcher counters go, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring will always be in contention for cards to consider. This card is so good, players have the option to run three copies of this card for the Exosisters besides their full recipe and still maintain advantage because of their constant threat as a hand trap.
Flying "C"
Flying “C” In terms of searcher counters go, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring will always be in contention for cards to consider. This card is so good, players have the option to run three copies of this card for the Exosisters besides their full recipe and still maintain advantage because of their constant threat as a hand trap.
Dark Ruler No More
Dark Ruler No More Not being able to deal damage for the rest of the turn after activation is a brutal cost, but Dark Ruler No More negating all the opponent's monster effects on the field for a turn, and being immunte to any monster effects as a response is a worthy trade.

Exosisters literally are not triggered by you summoning or moving cards from their GY, it has to be them that does it. It works with Dynatherium, for example, but it will not work with Called By The Grave or Ice Dragon's Prison.
