Hand Traps are cards that offer some form of trap in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. Use these staples to see what makes them the best cards in the game!
List of Contents
Maxx "C" remains one of the best hand traps in the game due to the nature of the meta heavily relying on Special Summons. This card is essentially a one-turn engine as it draws you a card every time your opponent special summons a monster. This effect shackles and disrupts your opponent's game plan for one turn.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring offers versatility as a hand trap as it negates a handful of effects. This card gives you the option to negate card draw, Special Summons, or cards sent to the Graveyard from the Deck. This is all in addition to being a Tuner monster with solid Defense.
Nibiru is a unique hand trap as it doesn't negate any card effect, but it does prevent your opponent from setting up an OTK. Due to its high ATK stat and the nature of its card activation, Nibiru can act as a blocker against decks that rely on having numerous monsters on the field. Additionally, you can end a duel by simply having Nibiru up on your turn.
D.D. Crow provides great value against decks centered around the Graveyard. This card removes any card in your opponents' deck; this includes Monsters, Traps, and Spells. Use this to combat monsters with additional effects when summoned from the GY.
Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit destroys any card that activates its effects. As a removal, it's one of the most straightforward and effective cards in the game.
Effect Veiler is a hand trap that negates the effect of a face-up Monster your opponent controls until the end of their turn. This effect is useful if you want to preemptively prevent your opponent from setting up his combo or potential OTK.
Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion prevents your opponent from interacting with either Graveyard. This card can nullify decks that rely on the Graveyard like Monster Reborn and Tri-Brigade.
Infinite Impermanence works similarly to Effect Veiler where it can negate the effects of an opposing face-up Monster. Although in order to activate this card from your hand, you must not control any cards on the field.
Psy-Framegear Gamma is a great card if you're planning to mount a comeback. This Tuner card gives you the option to negate, then destroy, an opposing monster's effect. Additionally, if you activate this card from your hand, it will be special summoned alongside one PSY-Frame Driver from your Hand, Deck, or Graveyard.
Do note that this card requires your field to be empty before activation of its effects.
Crossout Designator is, in essence, a counter against all other hand traps. If you happen to have a copy of the other hand traps on this list in your Deck, when an opponent activates the same card as one of those, you can activate this card to banish one from your Deck and negate their effects.
This is effective in countering the opponent's play, and even countering the opponent's counter. Ideally, this card will be the last card to be activated in a Chain.
Hand Traps are cards that have countering effects that can be activated from your hand to negate your opponent's action. These cards can range from Traps, Spells, and Monsters and are not necessarily Trap Cards as the name suggests.
Cards like Maxx C and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring are staples in current decks due to how powerful their effects are. Because of precisely this, Hand Traps have been auto includes in any Yu-Gi-Oh deck.

Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit does not negate card effects. It only destroys the card but the effects still activates
