White Forest Breakdown

White Forest Alternate Cards

Horus Engine
Imsety, Glory of Horus King The Horus Engine works with the White Forest for being an easy way to summon Level 8 monsters onto the field, while being able to send monsters from either the hand or Deck to the GY. With a number of Level 2 and Level 4 Tuner monsters in the Main Deck, this eases access for more Level 10 and Level 12 Synchro Monster options.
Bystial Engine
Bystial Magnamhut Bystial Dis Pater The Bystials can make use of LIGHT or DARK monsters from both players to be banished to summon themselves from the hand. With the Deck having Level 4 Tuners, the engine also includes Bystial Dis Pater--which becomes a negate so long as there are banished cards from either player's side.
Centur-Ion Engine
Centur-Ion Trudea Centur-Ion Auxila Centur-Ion happens to share a lot of penchantes with White Forest, the most crucial of which being their ability to Synchro Summon during the opponent's turn. It helps that it has access to both Level 4 and Level 8 non-Tuner monsters that can be Special Summoned to the field even during the opponent's turn. This might be a common engine to be used for those wanting to focus on flexibility.
Witchcrafter Engine
Witchcrafter Madame Verre Witchcrafter Vice-Madame Realistically, the player can make a Deck mixing both White Forest and Witchcrafter cards, as they have synergy in essence of being both Spellcaster archetypes that like discarding cards to gain advantage. Both archetypes have generic support for the Spellcaster-type too, which furthers their ability to mesh together.

White Forest Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

White Forest

The White Forest archetype is primarily made up of LIGHT Spellcaster-type monsters. The Level 4 monsters of the archetype serve as Tuners, and specialize for Level 6 and Level 8 Synchro Monsters.

Some of the effects have a cost of discarding a card, and the Spells and Traps take advantage of this effect. Should they be discarded by a monster's effect, they can be Set back onto the field without any drawback.

Main Deck Cards

Astellar of the White Forest is the monster you want to have on hand to start a combo, due to its Special Summon of a LIGHT Spellcaster Tuner--which the player can choose between Silvy (which can search a White Forest Spell/Trap from the Deck), or Rucia (with its free draw after using its effect).

Elzette is the monster searcher for the Deck, thus is summoned much later in the combo. Both itself and Astellar share the effect where they can be Special Summoned back from the GY if a LIGHT Spellcaster Tuner is Special Summoned on your field. This allows their innate synergy with the Level 4 Tuners of the archetype.

Some Synchro Monsters are also Tuners

The monster that kickstarts the combo for this Deck is Rciela, Sinister Soul of the White Forest. On summon, it adds either a LIGHT Spellcaster-type monster or a "White Forest" card from the Deck. Keep this monster on the field; it also provides a boost of 500 ATK for Illusion-type and Spellcaster-type Synchro monsters, as well as card destruction effect immunity.

Silvera, Wolf Tamer of the White Forest's effect is a field-wide Book of Moon, which can be powerful against targeted effects. It also provides an ATK boost like Rciela, but its secondary buff is dealing double piercing battle damage for the same monster types.

Diabell, Queen of the White Forest is the most crucial among the three. When summoned using a Synchro tuner (Rciela or Silvera), it can target any Spell or Trap in your GY to add back to the hand. It also can Special Summon a Level 7 or lower Synchro Tuner from the Extra Deck for free, which means popular options like Formula Synchron, Herald of the Arc Light and Coral Dragon are all viable here.

Toy Box Engine

Because of the White Forest archetype's penchant for sending cards to the GY as cost, the Toy Box Engine has incredible synergy for this Deck. A single activation of Toy Box can set two monsters from the Deck to the Spell/Trap Zone, and both monsters can Special Summon themselves back once they are sent to the GY.

Core Combos and Interactions

9 Activate Rucia of the White Forest from the hand; Special Summon itself from the hand.
Then, activate its second effect: discard Woes of the White Forest from the hand, then draw 1 card.

Afterwards, activate its effect: Set Angel Statue - Azurune from the Deck straight onto the field.

Boss Monsters

Diabell, Queen of the White Forest
Diabell, Queen of the White Forest The White Forest's ace monster. Diabell, Queen of the White Forest recycles a Spell Card if it is sumoned using a Synchro Tuner monster as material. Then, it can also Special Summon a Synchro Tuner monster fr om anywhere in response to an effect the opponent activates.
Rciela, Sinister Soul of the White Forest
Rciela, Sinister Soul of the White Forest On Special Summon, Rciela, Sinister Soul of the White Forest searches out a "White Forest" Card or a Spellcaster monster from the Deck by tossing a Spell Card from the hand. So long as this monster is on the field, your Spellcaster-type and Illusion-type Synchro Monsters will gain an ATK boost, and are immune to the opponent's card destruction effects.
Silvera, Wolf Tamer of the White Forest
Silvera, Wolf Tamer of the White Forest Silvera, Wolf Tamer of the White Forest can turn all Special Summoned monsters to face-down Defense Position every time it is Special Summoned. It also provides an ATK boost to your Spellcaster-type and Illusion-type Synchro Monsters like Rciela, and when they attack a monster in Defense Position, the piercing battle damage they do is doubled automatically.
Baronne de Fleur
Baronne de Fleur If a Deck can Synchro Summon a Level 10 monster easily, rest assured they will have Baronne de Fleur in the Extra Deck--and that includes White Forest. Its negation and card destruction effects are far too helpful to not add to the Deck Recipe.

White Forest Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against White Forest

Centur-Ion

Centur-Ion

As much as the Centur-Ion Engine can work with the White Forest cards, it is also one of the best Decks to counter it with. Centur-Ion's consistency in getting big boss monsters out with the help of the Crimson Dragon combo line makes it incredibly hard to break their defense, and then retaliate with big bodies like Cosmic Blazar Dragon and Red Supernova Dragon.

Centur-Ion Deck List & Card Guide

Tearlaments

Tearlaments

Besides the typical overwhelming strategy Tearlaments Decks can run with to get multiple boss monsters on the field quickly, what makes this Deck a powerful counter is that it can make use of Super Polymerization very well, using its own cards or the White Forest cards as material.

Just to be safe, unless you can take sacrificing a few cards into being used as material, it may be safer to clear a Tearlament player's back row firest.

Tearlaments Decks
Tearlaments Horus Tearlaments

Yubel

Yubel

Another brilliant user of Super Polymerization, Yubel is an extremely persistent Deck that has a unique strategy of crashing its monsters to the opponents and reflect all the battle damage back. They like having their cards destroyed, yet they do not get destroyed by battle, and the Graveyard doubles as a resource pool.

Between the various Yubel monsters, its synergy with the Unchained archetype, and ability to pivot, White Forest will have a good challenge against this Deck.

Yubel Deck List & Card Guide

Best Cards to Tech Against White Forest

Super Polymerization
Super Polymerization As aforementioned above in the Best Decks to Use Against, Super Polymerization is very effective against White Forest, due to their LIGHT and DARK attribute, as well as their solitary focus on Spellcaster-type monsters. The worst part is that there are very few cards that can stop this Quick-Play Spell from resolving.
Nibiru, the Primal Being
Nibiru, the Primal Being A standard White Forest combo can easily go past 5 Summons total in a single turn. Nibiru, the Primal Being has been rising in popularity more with combo-heavy and summon-centric Decks being added to Master Duel on a regular basis.
Dimensional Barrier
Dimensional Barrier For Trap Card-heavy Decks like Traptrix, Labrynth and Dinomorphia, Dimensional Barrier is such a good card to bring along. Once they spot the "White Forest" Tuner monsters, they can simply call "Synchro" on activation of this card, and all attempts to Synchro Summon are basically denied for the rest of the turn.
Skill Drain
Skill Drain Part of the strategy of White Forest is being able to Synchro Summon during the opponent's turn via monster effect. A well-timed Skill Drain will force them to only Synchro Summon during your own turn properly,
