Witchcrafters Breakdown

Witchcrafters Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Witchcrafters' primary goal is to utilize their strong and impactful spell cards to maintain a tempo advantage over their opponents. This deck plays similarly to Sky Strikers, as both decks count on board control and card removal to get the upper hand.

Witchcrafter Genni Witchcrafter Schmietta Witchcrafter Potterie Witchcrafter Pittore

The Level 4 and lower monsters of the Witchcrafter share a Quick Effect that discards a Spell Card and tributes themselves to Special Summon a different Witchcrafter from the deck. They can also banish themselves in the Graveyard for additional effects.

Witchcrafter Madame Verre Witchcrafter Haine Witchcrafter Golem Aruru

The Level 5 and higher monsters of the Witchcrafter also have Quick Effects of Various effects. Witchcrafter Madame Verre can negate the effects of face-up monsters your opponent controls by discarding a Spell card as well.
Witchcrafter Haine can destroy any face-up card your opponent controls by discarding a Spell card. Meanwhile, Witchcrafter Golem Aruru provides protection from the hand as it can Special Summon itself when an opponent's effect is activated.

Witchcrafter Creation Witchcrafter Holiday Witchcrafter Collaboration Witchcrafter Bystreet Witchcrafter Patronus

All Witchcrafter Normal Spell cards share the same Graveyard Effect: If you control a Witchcrafter monster, they can be added back to hand.
Note that their effects are hard once per turn.
It means that you can only use one of their 2 effects per turn.

Witchcrafter Spell On-Field Effect
Creation Adds Witchcrafter monster from the Deck.
Holiday Special Summons a Witchcrafter from the Graveyard.
Collaboration Gives double attack to a Witchcrafter monster.

Bystreet is a Continuous Spell card that protects your Witchcrafter monsters from getting destroyed.
Patronus is a Continuous Trap card that recycles your Witchcrafter cards.

Magicians Illusion of Chaos Magicalized Fusion

The Magician Engine helps for the consistency of the deck. Magicians' Souls gives draw power while also fueling the Graveyard with WItchcrafter Spells.

Illusion of Chaos can be used to search for Magicians' Souls.

Magicalized Fusion is used for Fusion Summoning Vice-Madame. It is more favored than Witchcrafter Confusion Confession since it can use the Graveyard for its materials.

Core Combos and Interactions

Standard Combo

Required Cards
Magicians + Witchcrafter Holiday
Step Description
1 Activate Magicians' Souls effect from the hand by sending Witchcrafter Haine from the Deck to the Graveyard to Special Summon itself.
2 Activate Witchcrafter Holiday to Special Summon Haine from the Graveyard.
If there are multiple Spell cards in the hand, activate Magicians' Souls effect to draw.
3 Link Summon Artemis, the Magisuts Moon Maiden using Magicians' Soul as material.
Afterwards, Link Summon Predaplant Verte Anaconda using Artemis and Haine as materials.
4 Activate Verte Anaconda's effect by sending Magicalized Fusion to the Graveyard to Fusion Summon Witchcrafter Vice-Madame using Haine and Artemis in the Graveyard as materials.

Note:
This combo can easily be done as long as you can Summon 2 monsters on the Field to make Verte Anaconda.
The extension for this combo depends on the Spell cards you currently have that can be used for later turns either as extenders or disruptions.

Alternative Options

Grass Looks Greener

That Grass Looks Greener

Witchcrafters relies on the Graveyard to effectively recycle their Spell cards. With That Grass Looks Greener, Witchcrafters can easily fuel the Graveyard with tons of Spells that they will just add back to hand during the end phase.

Branded Despia

Aluber the Jester of Despia Fallen of Albaz Branded Fusion

With the inclusion of Vice-Madame, Witchcrafters opened up another way to combo, including the addition of Fusion Summoning plays. Branded Despia is one of the perfect match for Witchcrafters as Branded Fusion uses materials from the deck, that can be later used for Witchcrafter combos.

Spell Chronicle

Spell Chronicle

While this combo is a little bit niche, it is still a fun interaction for the deck. Spell Chronicle lets you banish 5 Spell cards from the deck. Combined with Witchcrafter Patronus, you can add the cards you banished for Chronicle's effect during the next turn(after Patronus was sent to the Graveyard).

Boss Monsters

Witchcrafter Vice-Madame
Witchcrafter Vice-Madame Witchcrafter Vice-Madame has 3 different effects that can be used once each per turn. Vice-Madame has a non-targeting destruction effect, can swarm the field with Withcrafter monsters, and can recycle Witchcrafter Spell cards as well.
Witchcrafter Madame Verre
Witchcrafter Madame Verre Witchcrafter Madame Verre protects your Spellcasters on the field from battles by giving them ATK points. Madame-Verre also has a quick effect that negates all face-up monster your opponent controls.

Witchcrafters Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Witchcrafters

Exosisters

Exosisters Top Image
Exosister is a natural counter to Graveyard-reliant decks as they can easily banish cards on the field. They can also easily swarm the field that can overpower most slow decks.
Exosister Deck Guide

Gravekeeper's

Gravekeepers Top Image
Gravekeeper's can easily access Necrovalley. With that field card active on the field, Witchcrafters will have a hard time recycling their Spell cards in the Graveyard.

Best Cards to Tech Against Witchcrafters

Dimension Shifter
Dimension Shifter Witchcrafter relies on the Graveyard to recylce their Spell cards and resolve their effects. Dimension Shifter instantly banishes card that would be sent to the graveyard, thus limiting the moves of Witchcrafters.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Witchcrafters are really susceptible to handtraps especially from Ash Blossom since Witchcraft monsters discard for cost, effectively 2 cards loss for Witchcrafter when Ash Blossom resolves.
Macro Cosmos
Macro Cosmos Witchcrafters is a graveyard-reliant deck, Macro Cosmos hinders every deck that relies on the Graveyard as it restricts cards from hitting the Graveyard at all.
