Fiendsmith Yubel Breakdown

Alternate Cards for Fiendsmith Yubel

Linkuriboh
Linkuriboh In the off chance that one of the starter cards like Dark Beckoning Beast or Samsara D Lotus get negated with a hand trap, they can be turned into material to Link Summon Linkuriboh. Not only does this protect your monsters by draining one the opponent controls to 0 ATK.
Fiendsmith's Rextremende
Fiendsmith A Fiendsmith option for the Extra Deck if you have the space for it, Fiendsmith's Rextremende grants Fiendsmith cards blanket immunity to card effects, so long as a Fiendsmith card is equipped to it. On Fusion Summon, it serves as a Foolish Burial or Extra-Foolish Burial to a LIGHT Fiend monster, and can recycle a Fiendsmith card from the GY or banishment to add back to the hand.
Mature Chronicle
Mature Chronicle Mature Chronicle can be searched out from Spirit of Yubel's effect, and is a great add if you already have a copy of Nightmare Pain on hand. The more Yubels and monsters associated with Yubel you use, the counter increases. Spend those counters to activate its effect from lot of choices, including adding a card from the banishment, Special Summoning Yubel, or even searching out a Super Polymerization.
Lava Golem
Lava Golem Old school Yubel Decks would actually run a few copies of Lava Golemn, and later on Kaiju monsters. They served two purposes: to remove boss monsters that have Quick Effects that can interrupt your plays, and getting a big monster on the field to crash your Yubel monsters into.

Fiendsmith Yubel Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Yubel

For the most part, the Yubel cards are the centerpiece of the entire Deck. All plays revolve around getting the titular monster on the field through some variation, then crashing them to high-ATK monsters to reflect battle damage back with the help of Nightmare Pain.

Core Yubel Cards

Samsara D Lotus Gruesome Grave Squirmer Dark Beckoning Beast Spirit of Yubel

Ideally, the player wants to have Samsara D Lotus and Dark Beckoning Beast on hand. This lets them get Opening of the Spirit Gates, allowing the two monsters to be Normal Summoned on the same turn.

Tributing Lotus will Special Summon Spirit of Yubel, which then adds the crucial Nightmare Pain. The player has the option of setting it directly onto the field, if they cannot add to the hand for any reason.

Nightmare Pain Nightmare Throne

Nightmare Pain is the centerpiece of Yubel's gameplay. Any Yubel monster that crashes into, the opponent receives the damage. It also doubles as a searcher if it can destroy a DARK monster on your field or in the hand.

The now-Semi-Limited Nightmare Throne is another way to keep having a Yubel monster on the field. Should one leave the field, this Field Spell triggers, and will add a Yubel monster that is a level higher or lower to the hand--with the option of Special Summoning it if the player chooses to. It also searches on activation, which can also get Dark Beckoning Beast.

Yubel Yubel - Terror Incarnate Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare

In a regular Yubel Deck, players usually go up to Yubel - Terror Incarnate only. However, we would recommend adding Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare for reasons. For one, this allows Nightmare Throne to return Terror Incarnate if the Level 12 monster leaves the field. This also becomes an additional Yubel monster to send back to the Extra Deck for the Fusion Monsters.

Phantom of Yubel Yubel - The Loving Defender Forever

Phantom of Yubel only needs to shuffle back its material requirements to bring it out to the field; it does not even activate anything, making it bypass negates. Once the opponent activates a monster effect, it can tribute itself to change it to "destroy a Yubel monster".

Yubel - The Loving Defender Forever is the reason why Super Polymerization is so good on this Deck. It deals burn damage based on the number of materials it used as Fusion material, and it banishes the monster it battles after damage calculation on top of reflecting damage back based on the monster's ATK.

Unchained Engine

Unchained Soul of Sharvara Unchained Soul Lord of Yama Escape of the Unchained Unchained Soul of Rage

Players also have access to a small Unchained Deck Engine, starting with Unchained Soul Lord of Yama, which searches out Unchained Soul of Sharvara.

This combo lends itself into Unchained Soul of Rage, which can Link Summon using a monster the opponent controls as material as a Quick Effect. This combo also searches out Escape of the Unchained, which provides card destruction and control on the field.

Fiendsmith Engine

Fabled Lurrie Fiendsmith Fiendsmith Engraver Lacrima the Crimson Tears

For the Fiendsmith cards, there's a lot of ways to kickstart the Deck Engine's combo. Fiendsmith Engraver can discard itself to get Fiendsmith's Tract which in turn adds and discards Fabled Lurrie to summon it onto the field.

The new addition is Lacrima the Crimson Tears, which sends a Fiendsmith card to the GY when summoned. Typically, players would send the second copy of Fiendsmith Engraver there, for it to use its GY effect to Special Summon itself.

Fiendsmith Fiendsmith Fiendsmith
Fiendsmith Fiendsmith

With two monsters, including a Fiendsmith monster on the field, the player can go into Fiendsmith's Sequence. With its effect, it can conduct a Fusion by shuffling materials from the GY back tto the Deck or Extra Deck.

Most often, this effect is used to Summon Fiendsmith's Lacrima, which on summon can bring back a Fiendsmith Engraver from the GY. However, with the addition of Fiendsmith's Agnumday, this opens up for Fiendsmith's Desirae to be a powerful boss monster option with omni-negates for five cards simultaneously while being untargetable!

Fiendsmith Starter Combo

# Step Taken
1 Activate Fiendsmith Engraver from the hand; discard it, then add Fiendsmith's Tract to the hand.
2 Activate Fiendsmith's Tract; add Fabled Lurrie from the Deck to hand, then immediately discard it due to the Spell Card's effect.
This triggers Lurrie's effect after being discarded to the GY; Special Summon it.
3 Using Fabled Lurrie as material, immediately Link Summon into Fiendsmith's Requiem.
Then, activate its effect while on the field during the Main Phase; tribute itself, then Special Summon Lacrima the Crimson Tears from the Deck.
4 Lacrima the Crimson Tears' effect triggers upon being Special Summoned; send the second copy of Fiendsmith Engraver from the Deck to GY.
Then, activate one of the Engravers from there; shuffle back Fabled Lurrie to the Deck to Special Summon itself back from the Deck.
5 Using Lacrima the Crimson Tears and Fiendsmith Engraver as materials, Link Summon Fiendsmith's Sequence.
Then, using the materials sent to the GY and the second Fiendsmith Engraver in the GY, shuffle them back to the Deck to Fusion Summon Fiendsmith's Desirae .
6 After summoning Fiendsmith's Desirae through the effect of Fiendsmith's Sequence, do not activate Sequence's second effect.
Instead, use the two monsters as materials to Link Summon into Fiendsmith's Agnumday.
7 Trigger the effect of Fiendsmith Agnumday after being Link Summoned; target Fiendsmith's Desirae from the GY and Special Summon it back to the field, then equip the Link Monster to it in the Spell/Trap Zone.
This gives Desirae a boost in ATK.
8 Activate Fiendsmith's Sequence's second effect while in the GY; eqiup itself to Fiendsmith's Desirae.
This gives Desirae a second boost in ATK.

Boss Monsters

Phantom of Yubel
Phantom of Yubel What makes Phantom of Yubel so good in this Deck is that to summon this card, no effects need to be triggered. Just by shuffling the required materials from the field, GY or in hand back to the GY, this can be summoned. It acts as a deterrent, tributing itself to change the effect of an activated monster effect to destroy a Yubel monster. It is basically a negate, a Foolish Burial, and a Special Summon rolled into one!
Yubel - The Loving Defender Forever
Yubel - The Loving Defender Forever Yubel - The Loving Defender Forever is best summoned with the help of Super Polymerization, to completely deny the opponent usage of their monsters and deal burn damage. It is can't be destroyed by battle or card effect for good reason; if it manages to deal damage through its effect, it can banish the monster it battled. On top of that, it is actually easier to Special Summon it after Fusion Summon; the effects of Gruesome Grave Squirmer and Muckraker From the Underworld work with this monster!
Varudras, the Final Bringer of the End Times
Varudras, the Final Bringer of the End Times With two Level 10 monsters on the field, they can be used to summon Varudras, the Final Bringer of the End Times. It has a once-per-turn omni-negate, which also has an optional follow-up effect of destroying one card on the field. It can also a card on the field whenever this monster launches an attack!
Fiendsmith's Desirae
Fiendsmith With the release of Fiendsmith's Agnumday, this makes Fiendsmith's Desirae even stronger one equipped with the Link Monsters. It has a Quick Effect to negate multiple cards on the field, and it is based on the total number of Link Markers from the Link Monsters equippd to this card. When sent to the GY, this card can also target a card on the field to send to the GY.
Unchained Soul of Rage
Unchained Soul of Rage The Unchained Engine is also found here, and that means access to Unchained Soul of Rage. It serves as an interruption on the field, by using a monster the opponent controls on the field as a material alongside this card. This is a great way to get another Link Monster on the field, like S:P Little Knight, Unchained Soul of Anguish or Knightmare Unicorn.

Fiendsmith Yubel Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Fiendsmith Yubel

Primite Blue-Eyes

Primite Blue-Eyes White Dragon

The first iteration of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon Deck was already good enouigh as is, but Primite Blue-Eyes was the tipping point that made the archetype one of the best in the current game. Primite Drillbeam acts as a pseudo-Called by the Grave for cards on the field, and Primite Dragon Ether Beryl is a combo start all on its own.

Primite Blue-Eyes Deck List & Card Guide

Yubel

Yubel

A mirror match can go either way when going against the classic Yubel Deck. However, keep in mind that the Fiendsmith Engine can be used against you by the pure Yubel player if it manages to have Super Polymerization on the field. It all comes down to the customization of the Deck, where players' additional options can tip the scales in their favor.

Yubel Deck List & Card Guide

Tenpai Dragon

Tenpai Dragon

Tenpai Dragon keeps getting hit with cards being added to the Forbidden and Limited Card List. However, all it takes is one opening to be able to summon Tenpai Dragon Chundra or activate Sangen Kaimen. Do not be surprised if they load up on negations like Forbidden Droplet and board wipes like Raigeki and Lightning Storm to clear the field for the dragons.

Tenpai Dragon Deck List & Card Guide

Atlantean Mermail

Atlantean Mermail

The Atlantean Mermail Deck gets a mention here for one specific mention: hand rips. Cards like Deep Sea Minstrel, Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier and Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord can destroy the starting hand of a Fiendsmith Yubel card, which is crucial to gain advantage or to even start the Deck's combo properly.

Atlantean Mermail Deck List & Card Guide

Best Cards to Tech Against Fiendsmith Yubel

Dark Ruler No More
Dark Ruler No More Dark Ruler No More denies the player a chance to deal damage for the rest of the turn, but gives the user a chance to deal with them without any interruptions from monster effects.
Bystial Engine
Bystial Druiswurm Bystial Baldrake Branded Regained Both Yubel and Fiendsmith archetypes are under the mercy of the Bystial Dragons, which can banish a LIGHT or DARK monster from either player's GYs as a Quick Effect. Timed well, this can deny a Special Summon or even the activation of a monster effect. If there is extra spaced, players can also consider adding Branded Regained for added synergy for Druiswurm, as well as draw power whenever it shuffles back a card from banishment.
Nibiru, the Primal Being
Nibiru, the Primal Being As much as this card can work for Fiendsmith Yubel, Nibiru, the Primal Being can also work at the detriment of the Deck--if they don't have an interrupt like Phantom of Yubel. It tributes all cards on the field to Special Summon itself, and the stats of the token it summons on the opponent's field is the combind stats of all tributed monsters. Just pray the Yubel player does not have The Ultimate Nightmare if they are playing Terror Incarnate.
Dominus Purge and Dominus Impulse
Dominus Purge Dominus Impulse Dominus Purge and Dominus Impulse have quickly made an impact since their addition into Master Duel. They act as interrupts for searches or card effects, but the trade off of not being able to use the effects of monsters with certain Attributes for the rest of the Duel has to be accounted for. Expect Decks to run this card to have few cards that are hit by the restriction, like Purge being used on Blue-Eyes Decks.

The first combo says to set Eternal Favorite as apart of the combo, but that card is not listed in the deck list or in the side deck profile.
