Should You De-Rank Your Account?: Benefits of Self Demoting

Should You De-Rank

With the new ranked system implementations and ruling, do we start de-ranking our accounts in Yugioh Master Duel? Read on to know the benefits of De-ranking your account and the best way to do it!

Current Rank Issue is Being Resolved

While all the tactics mentioned below is true at the time of writing (2/10/2022), Konami is currently handling the issue of Platinum players not getting ranked rewards from silver tier and below. While demoting your rank to lower levels will prove beneficial at this time, take this info with a grain of salt.

Should You De-Rank Your Account?

De-Ranking is Highly Recommended

Defeat Screen Master Duel
With the current ranked system of Master Duel, we will only be dropping a division which allows us to get more rewards per tier we climb. However, the current problem with this system is wo won't get all the rewards from the lower tier we dropped to. (eg, you dropped from plat to gold means you'll never get rewards from silver rank and below)

It is Impossible to Demote from Gold to Silver

Gold 5 is the lowest rank possible before demotions take effect. This has been play-tested by surrendering 10 times consecutively and no demotions took effect. We highly suggest always ending your ranked season in gold to maximize rank rewards.

It is also Impossible to Demote from Diamond Tier 1

Once you get to Diamond Tier 1, it is impossible to de-rank even after losing as many games as you can. While this may sound good on paper, it means that you'll be locked from further rewards next season as you'll only drop to gold (more on this later).

Climb to Platinum 2

The first goal is to maximize the current season's gem without reaching platinum 1. This will lock you from controlled demotion and will prevent you from maximizing next season's rewards.

Guides to Ranking Up

Demote Yourself Back to Gold 1-5

Ranked Rewards

After reaching Platinum 2, demote yourself to Gold. This can easily be done by spamming surrender (albeit, in a bad taste) or playing a non-meta deck to have fun while in the process of demoting your account. Once the season ends, you'll be able to demote yourself to Silver as per Master Duel's reset system.

Platinum Gold 5
Gold Silver 5
Silver Bronze 1
Bronze Rookie
Rookie 1 Rookie 2

Wait for Rank Reset to Get to Silver

After the current rank system ends, you will have your account's rank be reset to Silver. This will allow you to net an additional 400 gems for each rank climbed while on your way to Gold. Each rank you get rewards you with 100 gems with climbing another division an adtitional 100. This means that you can get an additional 600 Gems from Silver 4 to 1 and the 200 Gem from reaching gold 5.

Grind Back to Platinum 2

Once you are able to obtain the rewards from silver, resume climbing back to Platinum to get the rest of the rank rewards available for the current season.

Hello Anonymous, Given the new season, one can no longer de-rank from Platinum. Players will only be able to de-rank once the Season Changes (E.G. if Platinum, you'll de-rank to Gold 5 when the next season starts).
