Tri-Brigade Lyrilusc Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Famoulsly known among the community as Bird Up, Tri-Brigade Lyrilusc is a Deck has quite a lot of flexibility in its combos, with a wide variety of ways to go depending on the starting hand. It has a very high skill ceiling, rewarding those putting in the time to learn every detail about the Deck.

This is an all-or-nothing combo Deck, and more often than not the bet pays off with a very powerful field most of the Meta Decks have problems dealing with. Use as many advantages as possible to bring out monsters that have both power and control.

Tri-Brigades Link Engine

Tri-Brigade Fraktall.png Tri-Brigade Kerass.png Tri-Brigade Kitt.png

Tri-Brigades can be considered a top contender for being one of the best Link Monster engines in the game. Its ability to fill the Graveyard with Beast/Beast-Warrior/Winged Beast monsters, and Link Summon using the same monsters ther is unique to the archetype, allowing them easier access to Link Monsters with higher Link Raitings. Do not be surprised if a Tri-Brigade Deck can bring out a Link-4 monster on their first turn.

Lyrilusc Synergy

Lyrilusc - Turquoise Warbler.png Lyrilusc - Celestine Wagtail.png Lyrilusc - Sapphire Swallow.png Lyrilusc - Beryl Canary.png Lyrilusc - Cobalt Sparrow.png
Lyrilusc - Recital Starling.png Lyrilusc - Ensemblue Robin.png Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale.png

Lyriluscs have quite some power in their ability to swarm the field and search copies of each other out. The sheer number of monsters the archetype can summon in a combo grants them easy access to Link and Xyz monster plays and combo extenders. On top of that, because the Tri-Brigade monsters' effects count Winged Beast monsters for Link Materials, the Lyrilusc monsters can be used as material as well!

The Boss Monsters

Number F0 Utopic Draco Future.png Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder.png Accesscode Talker.png Tri-Brigade Shuraig the Ominous Omen.png Simorgh Bird of Sovereignty.png

The Deck has quite a formidable list of powerful Extra Deck monsters to have in their disposal. Most of the monsters here have ways to disrupt the opponent, like Utopic Draco Future and Accesscode Talker having negates, to Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS's board-clearing effect, Shuraig's non-targetting banishing effect, and the effect of Simorgh's infamous Special Summon lockout combo with Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds.

Core Combos and Interactions

One-card Simorgh Combo

If certain cards have yet to be drawn from your Deck, Tri-Brigade Fraktall is enough to be able to set up a board for future turns as a one-card combo. The following combo should set up to lock the opponent out of Special Summoning non-WIND monsters, while protecting your Beast/Winged Beast/Beast-Warrior monsters from destruction, and giving you a set-up opening next turn with a Tri-Brigade Nervall on-hand.

1 Activate the effect of Tri-Brigade Fraktall, discard it from the hand, and send a copy of Tri-Brigade Nervall from the Deck to the Graveyard.
2 Being sent to the Graveyard, activate Tri-Brigade Nervall, and search out Tri-Brigade Kitt from the Deck to the hand.
3 Normal Summon Tri-Brigade Kitt, use its effect to Banish both Nervall and Kitt from the Graveyard, to Link Summon Harpie Conductor on the Extra Monster Zone.
4 Using Tri-Brigade Kitt and Harpie Conductor (counting as 2 Link Markers) as Material, Link summon Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty.
Gems Tip! Make sure to have at least four spaces in your Spell and Trap Card Zone open to properly use the effect of Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty to Special Summon Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds and complete the lockout combo.
5 Once Tri-Brigade Kitt is sent to the Graveyard, activate its effect, and send Tri-Brigade Rendezvous from the Deck to the GY.
6 In the End Phase, Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty's effect activates, and Special Summon Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds from the Deck to one of the Main Monster Zones this card is pointing to with its Link Markers.

F0 Lyrilusc Combo

The Lyrilusc archetype has decent swarming abilities, and with the right cards the combo can allow two Lyrilusc - Recital Starling to be Xyz Summoned in one turn, opening up a chance to summon Number F0: Utopic Future and another Lyrilusc Xyz monster.

1 While the field does not have monsters yet, Special Summon Lyrilusc - Turquoise Warbler from the Hand.
2 Upon being Special Summoned, activate the second effect of Turquoise Warbler, and Specail Summon Lyrilusc - Cobalt Sparrow from the hand.
3 Upon being Special Summoned, activate the second effect of Cobalt Sparrow, and search out a copy of Lyrilusc - Beryl Canary from the Deck to the hand.
4 Using Turquoise Warbler and Cobalt Sparrow as Material, Xyz Summon Lyrilusc - Recital Starling; activate its effect upon being Special Summoned and target itself.
5 Activate the effect of Recital Starling, and search out a copy of Lyrilusc - Sapphire Swallow from the Deck to the hand.
6 Activate the effect of Lyrilusc - Sapphire Swallow from the hand, Special Summon itself, and a copy of Lyrilusc - Celestine Wagtail onto the Field.
7 Upon being Special Summoned, activate the first effect of Celestine Wagtail, and search out a copy of Lyrilusc - Bird Call from the Deck to the hand.
8 Using Sapphire Swallow and Celestine Wagtail as Material, Xyz Summon another copy of Lyrilusc - Recital Starling; activate its effect upon being Special Summoned and target itself or the other Recital Starling on the field.
Gems Tip! You could use other Rank 1 Xyz Monsters for the second material, but keep in mind of its material requirements. Here, a second copy of Recital Starling was used to maintain card advantage by using its effect to seach out another Lyrilusc monster from the Deck to the hand.
9 Using the two Recital Starlings on the field as Material, send their attached materials to the Graveyard and Xyz Summon Number F0: Utopic Future.
10 Using Number F0: Utopic Future as Material, Rank Up and Xyz Summon Number F0: Utopic Draco Future.
11 Activate the effect of Lyrilusc - Beryl Canary from the Hand, Special Summon itself and any one of the Lyrilusc monsters sent there earlier from the GY; the only exception will be Lyrilusc - Celestine Wagtail.
12 Activate Lyrilusc - Bird Call, add one monster from the remaining Lyrilusc monsters in the Deck, and Normal Summon it.
13 Using Beryl Canary and the two other Lyrilusc monsters on the field as Material, Xyz Summon your choice between Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale or Lyrilusc - Esemblue Robin.
14 Activate the second effect of Celestine Wagtail from the Graveyard, and attach itself as Xyz Material onto Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale/Esemblue Robin.

Boss Monsters

Number F0: Utopic Draco Future
Number F0: Utopic Draco Future Number F0: Utopic Draco Future is a very annoying card to deal with for the opponent, and a card that is surprisingly easy to set up, especially if you were to go first. If any effect monster decides to activate its effect on the field while this card is still active, the effect is negated, and you get to take control of it until it is destroyed. Massive stats on top of being immune to battle or card destruction also adds to its power.
Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty
Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty is a powerful Link Monster that allows a Winged Beast monster from the Deck during your End Phases. This allows further protection and set-up with the Lyrilusc archetype, while providing protection to Winged Beast monsters this card points to with its Link Markers. It is also one of two key cards that create the Extra Deck lockout combo, locking the opponent out of Special Summoning non-WIND monsters with Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds.
Tri-Brigade Shuraig the Ominous Omen
Tri-Brigade Shuraig the Ominous Omen Tri-Brigade Shuraig the Ominous Omen is the strongest Tri-Brigade monster in the Deck, and as soon as it is Special Summoned, or if another Beast/Winged Beast/Beast-Warrior monster gets Special Summoned, it can banish a card off of the field. On top of that, Shuraig has a floating effect where it replaces itself with a mosnter whose level matches or is lower to the number of Beast/Winged Beast/Beast-Warrior monsters that were Banished.
Accesscode Talker
Accesscode Talker Accesscode Talker is a universal boss monster due to its strong effects, and with Bird Up having multiple Link-2 and Link-3 monsters, this card is very accessible for a Link-4 monster. When summoned using Link Monsters as material, this monster's ATK can go up as high as 5300, and the opponent cannot activate cards in response to this card activating its effects.

Lyrilusc - Bird Call Lyrilusc - Bird Call Swallow Swallow's Nest

Lyrilusc - Ensemblue Robin can be swapped out for Slacker Magician (which could negate effects if it's targeted) or Number 63: Shamoji Soldier (for a draw if you need an extra turn) as your extra Rank 1 Xyz Monster; even though its effect of shuffling back Sepcial Summoned monsters can be extremely useful.
Fire Formation - Tenki provides the ability to search out a Tri-Brigade monster, which can be done with Tri-Brigade Stand-Off after a specific discard; another option is the second-best Fire Formation card, Fire Formation - Tensu, for its ability to provide a second Normal Summon.
Lyrilusc - Bird Call searches out a Lyrilusc monster and Special Summons a Lyrilusc with a different name afterwards; at the cost of a Winged Beast on your field as tribute, Swallow's Nest Special Summons the specific monster needed.

Tri-Brigade Lyrilusc Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Tri-Brigade Lyrilusc

Kaiju

Once the boss monsters are on the field like Utopic Draco Future and Shuraig, they can be hard to be removed by card destruction or bounce effects. However, tributing monsters is a bypass that Bird Up Decks are weak against. Kaijus are known for this playstyle, and with a few other floodgates can pose some serious trouble for this Deck.

Eldlich

Like Kaijus, Eldlich Control Decks have plenty of floodgates that make it hard for Lyrilusc and Tri-Brigade Monsters to maintain presence on the field. They also have consistent beatdown options, and has an easier combo to set up its boss monster to against anyone.

Traptrix

Traptrix going first against Bird Up means they can set up multiple disruptions through their frequent use of Trap Cards. Even card searches from Recital Starling's effect will get negated with a possible Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare, resulting in denied card advantage.

Best Cards to Tech Against Tri-Brigade Lyrilusc

The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode
The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode Should you not have any Kaijus crafted, The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode is a good option to consider, especially as Bird Up can easily go beyond three monsters on the field to match this card's summoning conditions. Especially when it attempts to go for both Number F0: Utopic Draco Future and the Tri-Brigade Link Monsters.
Nibiru, the Primal Being
Nibiru, the Primal Being Another Kaiju-esque effect, Nibiru, the Primal Being is even better as all it needs is that the opponent goes over five summons to trigger Nibiru's effect. This completely clears the board with all monsters (unless protected by Assembled Nightingale), and can safely crash against Number F0: Utopic Draco Future with 3000 ATK.
Skill Drain
Skill Drain Skill Drain effectively closes many of Bird Up's strengths, like using the Tri-Brigade's on-field effect to Link Summon by banishing monsters as material or Simorgh going for the lockdown effect with Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds, or being able to deal with dangerous cards like Lightning Storm or Raigeki with
Necrovalley
Necrovalley The Graveyard is a very important resource pool for Bird Up, as both Lyrilusc and Tri-Brigade uses cards in the GY for their effects, whether to Special Summon or Banish cards. Necrovalley effectively locks the cards from leaving the GY, preventing both kinds of effects from activating.
Gravedigger's Trap Hole
Gravedigger Gravedigger's Trap Hole will be dangerous counter for handtraps and Graveyard effects, which Bird Up Decks run quite a lot of on both ends. On top of that, the 2000 damage after it manages to negate an effect from the hand, GY or Banished cards can be fatal if the player is not watching their Life Points.
