Virtual World Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Virtual World has a focus on banishing and Special Summoning from the hand while sending cards from the deck to the graveyard.

This is then followed up by an additional effect upon being Special Summoned, allowing them to easily swarm the field as well as get cards into the GY early on. This also easily sets up their Synchro Monster and Xyz Monster plays.

Swarming the Board

Draw multiple Virtual World monsters with different names so you can summon them all and get their bonuses.
All of the Special Summon from hand abilities are hard once-per-turn effects, so you generally want to stay diversified and avoid drawing multiple copies.

Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan

Send Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan to the GY when you can. You can then revive it for free whenever you special summon another Level 3 Virtual World monster.

Virtual World Gate - Qinglong

Send Virtual World Gate - Qinglong to the GY. You have the option of banishing it to add another Virtual World Monster from your deck to your hand, but you'll have to send another monster to the GY after.

Virtual World Gate - Chuche

Keep Virtual World Gate - Chuche on the field. Using it lets you return two banished Virtual World cards with different names back to your deck.

Ending the Match

Once you have your resources, begin your Synchros and Xyz summons!

Core Combos and Interactions

Number 75: Bamboozling Gossip Shadow

Virtual World Mai-Hime - Lulu Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan Number 75: Bamboozling Gossip Shadow

A quick Xyz Monster that just requires 2 Level 3 monsters. If you have Virtual World Xiezhi - Lulu in your hand, you can target a Virtual World card on the field that's a different type, and you can send a card from your deck to the GY, special summoning this monster. If you choose to send Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan, special summoning Virtual World Xiezhi - Lulu can revive Virual World Hime - Nyannyan giving you 2 Level 3 monsters to Xyz summon Number 75: Bamboozling Gossip Shadow.

Number 39: Utopia Beyond

Virtual World Roshi - Laolao Virtual World Gate - Chuche Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan Number 39: Utopia Beyond

Like the strategy above, if you have Virual World Roshi - Laolao in your hand, you can target Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan or any Virtual World card you conrol, select Virtual World Gate - Chuche from the deck and send it to the GY. Use, Virtual World Gate - Chuche's effect to raise the level of Virtual World Hime - Nyannnyan from Level 3 to Level 6, and use both Virtual World Roshi - Laolao & Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan to Xyz Summon Number 39: Utopia Beyond. Now that you've Xyz Summoned Number 39: Utopia Beyond, all of your opponent's monsters' ATK have been reduced to 0.

Virtual World Beast - Jiujiu

Virtual World Mai-Hime - Lulu Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan Virtual World Beast - Jiujiu

By doing the same strategy above for Number 75: Bamboozling Gossip Shadow, you can do the same steps and Synchro Summon Virtual World Beast - Jiujiu because Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan becomes a tuner after being revived. Virtual World Beast - Jiujiu cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects as long as you have 2 cards of the same type and attribute in the GY. Luckily enough, you used 2 monsters with the same attribute to Synchro Summon Virtual World Beast - Jiujiu.

Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder

Number 39: Utopia Beyond Number 75: Bamboozling Gossip Shadow Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder

With at least one Xyz Monster on the field, using one of them to attack during your Battle Phase, you can immediately summon Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus - Sky Thunder by tributing an Xyz Monster on the field during your Second Main Phase. Now that your opponent's monsters have an ATK of 0, attack one of them using Number 39: Utopia Beyond. Move onto your Second Main Phase and Special Summon Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus - Sky Thunder by tributing Number 75: Bamboozling Gossip Shadow. Once summoned, detach 2 materials from Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus - Sky Thunder and clear the whole field with its effect.

Budget Virtual World: F2P Friendly

This Virtual World Deck is pretty much reliant on a majority of its cards being Virtual World Monsters, thus it may be hard to find a budget version of it, as you'll need the variety.

But, there are some places where we can make more budget options so as to best make most of the deck.

Lower Rarity Replacements

Pot of Extravagance Somewhat a budget Ash Blossom & Joyous Summer but with its own downsides. You can trigger its effect whenever a card is added to your opponent's hand, sending it to the GY, stopping any and all new cards to be added to both player's hand for that turn.
Cup of Ace Another quick spell that can aid in taking down back row cards. Works in lieu of having Solemn Judgement.
Hand Destruction Transcode Talker can be used in lieu of Accesscode Talker in a pinch. Both it and the cards it's linked to get an additional 500 ATK.
Backup Squad A budget Called by the Grave. But may be more useful in some ways as it's not limited to just monster cards.

This will quickly disrupt them from doing any more summons or even stopping them from completing their Synchro or Xyz Summon.
Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion
Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion Using this card, you can quickly cancel specific effects that are at the core of Virtual World decks by discarding this card.
You can apply this whenever your opponent adds cards from the GY to their hand, Deck, or Extra Deck, whenever they Special Summon a Monster Card from the GY, or whenever they banish a card from the GY.
Summon Limit
Summon Limit A trap card that limits the summon of both parties to a maximum of two times per turn. This will quickly put a halt to Virtual World users quickly swarming their field with monsters, making the most of their bonuses.
Vanity's Fiend
Vanity A monster that can't be special summoned, but locking special summons until he's destroyed. This will quickly put a halt on any and all Virtual World Special Summoning, but do note that you won't be able to do any special summons as well.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Similar to Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, this card can be quickly used to cancel specific effects that are at the core of Virtual World decks by discarding this card.

Using a combination of spells and traps to stop those summons from happening will quickly put the duel in your favor.

I hope after 6 months you realize the error of not putting VFD in the deck.

10 Anonymousabout 2 years

Maxx "C" is not that good for the deck, due to the fact that you want VW cards in the deck to be able to send. If you draw all your VW cards from the Maxx "C" you cannot special summon your VW monsters
