Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel - Expurrely Noir How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

The Ghostrick Purrely Deck is growing in popularity due to its ability to pump out an uninteractable board using XYZ Monsters. Ghostrick Purrely is a mixed deck hosting the Purrely cards enhanced with the Ghostrick Engine for its ability to get discard fodder.

The Deck is known for its win condition revolving around one-card combos leading into 2 Expurrely Noirs and Number F0: Utopic Draco Future, having wide influence over the board and sending the opponent's cards back to the bottom of the Deck.

Main Deck

Monsters

Purrely Purrelyly

For the Purrely package, there are only two monsters in the Main Deck. You will be able to Special Summon them through the Purrely Quick-Play Spells available in the Deck.

Purrely excavates the top 3 cards of your deck, and if you find a Purrely Quick-Play Spell, add that card from the Deck to your hand.

Purrelyly can search out any Purrely Card except their Quick Spells from your Main Deck and add them to your hand.

As an additional effect, both of these monsters can reveal a Purrely Quick-Play Spell that mentions a specific XYZ Monster in the Extra Deck, Special Summon that Monster specified.

Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Droll & Lock Bird Maxx "C" Kurikara Divincarnate

Since this Deck is not fully reliant on any monsters, the majority of them serve as hand traps to ensure that you can achieve your win condition while limiting your opponent's plays. All of these hand-traps serve different roles:

  • Ash Blossom - Prevents the opponent from searching or sending a card from the Main Deck once.
  • Droll & Lock Bird - Prevents the opponent from adding any cards from the Main Deck to the Hand for the whole turn.
  • Maxx-C - Draw a card from your Deck every time the opponent Special Summons a Monster.
  • Kurikara Divincarnate - Tribute an opponent's monster/s that activated their effect during your turn. During the End Phase, Special Summon one of the tributed monsters.

Spells

My Friend Purrely
My Friend Purrely is a one-card starter due to its effect to search out your Purrely Quick-Play Spells Cards. If a Purrely Xyz Monster you control leaves the field, this Continuous Spell lets you recycle your 3 Purrely Quick-Play Spells from the GY back to the hand.

Quick-Play Spells Effects
Purrely Delicious Memory Activation: Targets a monster to make them immune to battle destruction until the next turn.
Attached to XYZ Monster: Grants 300 ATK & DEF for every material attached.
Purrely Happy Memory Activation: Give a monster one-time destruction protection until the end of the next turn.
Attached to XYZ Monster: Grant additional attacks depending on the amount of "Purrely Happy Memory" attached.
Purrely Pretty Memory Activation: Give both players 1000 Lifepoints
Attached to XYZ Monster: Target a card the opponent controls, attach it to the Xyz Monster this card is attached to
Purrely Sleepy Memory Activation: You will not receive damage the next time you are dealt battle or effect damage.
Attached to XYZ Monster: Draw 1 card on your opponent's Standby Phase

This Deck's ability to consistently pump out their Monsters is because of these four Quick-Play Cards. These Spells are mainly used to Special Summon either Purrely or Purrelyly by sending a card from your hand to the Graveyard, which the Ghostrick Engine provides.

These Quick-Play Spells have a unique activation effect and can also provide additional effects if they are attached to a Purrely Xyz Monster. Each of these Quick-Play Spells provides different effects, so adjust accordingly!

Ghostrick Shot
Ghostrick Shot, for this Deck, is mainly utilized as discard fodder due to its effect to Banish itself from the Graveyard to attach a Ghostrick card from the Graveyard to one of your XYZ Monsters.

Ghostrick Shot is also able to Special Summon back your Ghostrick Dullahan from the Graveyard you can use as XYZ material for another Ghostrick Angel of Mischief.

Triple Tactics Thrust Triple Tactics Talent

If you are interrupted during your turn, you can use Triple Tactics Thrust to search for any of your Normal Spells to extend combos or Triple Tactics Talent to resolve either of the 3 effects:

  • Draw 2 Cards
  • Take control of 1 of your opponent's monsters until the End Phase
  • Look at your opponent's hand, and choose 1 card to shuffle back in the Deck

For the most part, it is recommended to draw 2 cards to search for more of your Quick Play Spells. Otherwise, take control of an opponent's monster.

Traps

Ghostrick Renovation
This variation of the Deck does not utilize Ghostrick Renovation's first effect since it is used as discard fodder. This Deck uses its second effect to Banish itself from the Graveyard to target a Ghostrick XYZ monster on the Field to use as material for another differently named Ghostrick XYZ Monster.

It is recommended to use this effect on your Angel of Mischief that has 4 materials to XYZ Summon a Ghostrick Socuteboss to then use as material to XYZ Summon Expurrely Noir with 6 overlayed materials.

Infinite Impermanence Red Reboot

Infinite Impermanence can be activated from the hand if you have an empty field to negate a monster effect. Also, if you are going first, you can set this to add further interruption alongside your XYZ monsters and possibly negate a Spell or Trap Card.

Since this Deck relies on setting up uninteractable interruptions, Red Reboot is included to answer Trap-centered Decks just in case you go second. If the effect resolves after the opponent activates a Trap card, negate the effect, and the opponent will not be able to activate Traps for the rest of the turn.

However, they can set another Trap card directly from the Deck, so make sure that the board you set up can effectively stop them.

Extra Deck Monsters

Ghostrick Purrely mainly focuses on XYZ Summons using the Ghostrick engine to set up the Purrely XYZ monsters.

Quick-Play Spells Effects
Epurrely Beauty Effect: Negate an effect monster the opponent controls.
Purrely Pretty Memory is attached: The effect turns into a Quick-Effect.
If you play a Purrely Quick-Spell: Attach the Quick-Spell to this card then change the battle position of 1 monster your opponent controls.
Epurrely Happiness Effect: Add 1 Purrely card from the Deck to Hand after Battling.
Purrely Happy Memory is attached: Halve any of the opponent's monster's ATK.
If you play a Purrely Quick-Spell: Attach the Quick-Spell to this card and return 1 Spell/Trap your opponent controls to their hand.
Epurrely Plump Effect: Target 2 Spells/Traps from either Graveyard and attach them to this card as materials.
Purrely Delicious Memory is attached: The effect turns into a Quick-Effect.
If you play a Purrely Quick-Spell: Attach the Quick-Spell to this card and Banish 1 monster on the field until the End Phase.

Each Epurrely monster provides different roles for different situations and shares a mutual additional effect after playing a Purrely Quick-Spell. They also have their respective Quick-Play Spells they want to be attached to them as materials to enhance said effects.

You can opt to bridge any of these into Expurrely Noir after resolving their effects.

Expurrely Noir

Expurrely Noir is the main boss monster of the Deck since this card is an uninteractable source of multiple interruptions, and optimally, you can have 2 of them on the Field active at the same time!

This Xyz Monster becomes immune to all activated effects if it has 5 or more materials attached to it. Detaching two to activate its effect lets it send a card the opponent controls to the bottom of their Deck, which lets you avoid Trigger Effects except Target effects from activating.

Ghostrick Dullahan Ghostrick Angel of Mischief Ghostrick Socuteboss

These 3 XYZ Monsters fill the role of Ghostrick Engine. They are responsible for stacking up materials for Expurrely Noir.

Ghostrick Dullahan can be XYZ Summoned by using 2 Level 1 Monsters, making them easy to access through Purrely and Purrelyly. Dullahan is used to bridge into Ghostrick Angel of Mischief and recycle Ghostrick Shot from the Graveyard.

Ghostrick Angel of Mischief can stack the materials of the Monsters used for her XYZ Summon. She can detach a material, optimally Dullahan, to search for a Ghostrick Spell or Trap. You can also opt to attach the said Ghostrick Spell or Trap on her as material.

Ghostrick Socuteboss is added here to access Expurrely Noir since she is a Level 2 XYZ Monster. After stacking enough materials on Angel of Mischief, you can use Ghostrick Renovation to use her as material to XYZ Summon this card, retaining all materials.

Number F0: Utopic Future Number F0: Utopic Draco Future

Since this Deck in particular can XYZ Summon same level monsters as part of their main combo, the Utopia Package is included as protection from any monster effects.

Number F0: Utopic Future is used to summon Number F0: Utopic Draco Future, which is an XYZ Monster that cannot be destroyed by battle or card effect. It can negate a monster's effect once per turn, and if that monster was on the field, you gain control of that monster permanently.

Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel - Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus Sky Thunder

If all else fails and your combo is interrupted, it is recommended to pivot and end on a Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus Sky Thunder stacked with numerous materials.

Divine Arsenal could have as many as 7 or even 8 materials to use for its Quick-Effect to send all cards on the field to the Graveyard which is not a hard once-per-turn.

Sky Striker Ace - Azalea

Since the Deck can stack the Graveyard with spells and is mostly composed of easy-to-summon Light and Dark Monsters, Sky Striker Ace - Azalea is included.

Azalea is essentially a check for your opponent's backrow. On Special Summon, target and destroy one Spell or Trap card the opponent controls.

Boss Monsters

Expurrely Noir
Expurrely Noir Expurrely Noir becomes a problematic card for your opponent with the support of the Ghostrick Engine. She has the ability to target either a card from the opponent's Field or Graveyard and send them to the bottom of the opponent's Deck. If a Purrely Monster is one of its XYZ materials, the effect is considered a quick effect. Furthermore, she is unaffected by any activated effects if she has 5 or more XYZ materials.
Ghostrick Angel of Mischief
Ghostrick Angel of Mischief Ghostrick Angel of Mischief can be considered a Boss Monster solely for the fact that she is the main engine that makes this Deck so powerful. Simply put, her effect lets her stack up XYZ materials by attaching her with Ghostrick Shot, letting you XYZ Summon optimally a pair of Expurrely Noirs with 6 XYZ Materials.
Number F0: Utopic Draco Future
Number F0: Utopic Draco Future Number F0: Utopic Draco Future is another form of interruption that is indestructible through battle. When the opponent activates a monster effect, you can detach a material to negate that monster's effect, and if the monster is still on the field, take control of it. He is easily accessed through Number F0: Utopic Future and is used alongside Noir to create a daunting board.
Kurikara Divincarnate
Kurikara Divincarnate This is more of a safety measure if you are going second; Kurikara Divincarnate punishes the opponents if they try to interrupt your combos through Monster Effects as you can tribute monsters that activated their effects during your turn. For each monster tributed, this monster gets stronger when summoned and you will be able to Special Summon one of those tributed Monsters during the End Phase.

Best Decks to Use Against Ghostrick Purrely

Master Duel - Mikanko Ritual

Mikanko

Most Mikanko Decks have a splash of Kaijus that they can use to Tribute off our Boss Monsters. This is so that they can have targets to attack with their 0 ATK monsters and make you receive the damage, which is their main win condition.

Master Duel - Kashtira

Kashtira

Since this Deck needs board space to execute its gameplan well, Kashtira is going to be a problem. If a Kashtira Deck manages to set up before any of your key monsters are on the board, the card zones will be blocked and key components of your combos can be banished before you can even play.

Best Cards to Tech Against Ghostrick Purrely

Maxx "C"
Maxx "C" This Deck in particular Special Summons 7-8 cards on average during their turn. Maxx "C", when resolved, will give the opponent a massive card advantage as it lets the opponent draw every time you Special Summon.
Lava Golem
Lava Golem Even though Expurrely Noir completely avoids activated effects when she has 5 or more XYZ Materials, she is still vulnerable to tributes. Lava Golem punishes this Deck by being able to tribute 2 Cards from the opponent's side of the field to summon itself, damaging the opponent's Lifepoints by 1000 every Standby Phase.
Droll & Lock Bird
Droll & Lock Bird Since this Deck focuses on retrieving key cards from your Main Deck through searching, Droll & Lock Bird is a devastating card for this Deck as when its Effect resolves, you will not be able to add cards from your Main Deck to Hand during your Turn.
Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju
Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju Kaiju cards, especially Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju, can Tribute this Deck's Boss Monster off without much effort. Compared to Lava Golem, Gamaciel requires only one Monster. Kurikara Divincarnate can be an alternative, however, Kaijus do not need the opponent to activate their monsters in order to tribute.
