The Superheavy Samurais are a unique archetype that relies on the Deck being completely devoid of Spell and Trap Cards. They even have built-in effects that outright debilitate themselves the moment a Spell or Trap Card is sent to that player's GY.
To properly run this Deck, every single Effect Monster for this Deck has to synergize; otherwise, hands bricking is going to be a frequent occurence.
The two new additions to the Superheavy Samurai archetype, added in the Indomitable Pride Selection Pack, make all the different in making this Deck as strong as it should be.
Superheavy Samurai Motorbike is your key searcher for the entire Deck, allowing you to get any other "Superheavy Samurai" monster from the Deck. Superheavy Samurai Prodigy Wakaushi Special Summons another "Superheavy Samurai" monster straight from the Deck, and if it uses itself for a Synchro Summon, it instead goes into the Pendulum Zone.
The other old cards from the archetype are all supports that provide advantages whenever they can. Soulpiercer provides piercing damage when equipped to a fellow archetype monster, Wagon adds a "Superheavy Samurai Soul" monster to the hand, and Soulgaia Booster can turn a monster this card is equipped to into a Tuner.
As for two copies each, Scales and Monk Big Benkei are your best bets. Superheavy Samurai Scales gets to Special Summon itself if the opponent has two or more monsters, and provides a free Special Summon of a Level 4 monster from the Deck. You could make a case of making it 3 copies, but being reliant on having the opponent have monsters is not worth it.
Superheavy Samurai Monk Big Benkei is a Pendulum Monster, thus its effects are twofold; being used as Synchro Material places this card in the Pendulum Zone, much ike Prodigy Wakaushi. While as a Pendulum Card, it provides a free search of a "Superheavy Samurai Soul" monster to the hand.
For one copies each, Stealthy is the sneakiest of the bunch, due to it being able to steal a Spell or Trap from the opponent's own Graveyard by Setting it onto your side of the field--and depending on what it gets, it becomes a big advantage for you. Soulpeacemaker turns the monster its equipped onto into a Taunter--redirecting all attacks towards itself so long as it's face-up and active.
Superheavy Samurai General Coral provides draw power by tributing fellow "Superheavy Samurai" monsters on the field. It could also provide a fellow "Superheavy Samurai" monstrer a second attack in a row if it manages to destroy a monster by battle.
Being a Deck that does not run any Spell or Trap Cards, hand traps are the only sort of quick response effects that could help turn the Duel more to your favor. Meta-defining cards like Maxx "C" and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring are must-have cards at 3 copies each due to how strong they are. Unfortunately, running Called by the Grave as a counter if the opponent runs them is out of the question.
Droll & Lock Bird can serve as a good counter against Maxx "C" and any other search effect for the rest of the turn, while Nibiru, the Primal Being can punish the opponent from doing too many Summons in a single turn.
Some cards here at 1 copy in the Deck seem out of place, but they provide their own advantages when their time arises. For example, Ancient Gear Box is most likely going to be material fodder for Extra Deck summons, but if it attacks the opponent cannot activate Spells or Traps during the Damage Step.
Infinitrack Tunneller can be Special Summoned by tributing an EARTH Machine monster, and its effect acts like a pseudo-Pot of Avarice. Kashtira Fenrir is now Limited as of January 10, 2024, but its effect to banish a face-up card in response to an opponent's monster effect is still very strong.
Matching the Machine-type theme of the Deck is Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju, which can get rid of very pesky boss monsters from the field safely. Meanwhile, Therion "King" Regulus is an excellent support to run in any kind of Machine Deck, which also includes Superheavy Samurai; that omni-negate can protect your field from a spotty situation.
Superheavy Samurai Brave Masurawo | |
---|---|
Superheavy Samurai Brave Masurawo, while having no means of interruption, is incredibly potent as both a finisher and a means of generating card value. When an opponent activates their spell/trap card, you can draw until you have three cards in your hand, most likely grabbing you a hand-trap! | |
Baronne de Fleur | |
Baronne De Fleur can be easily brought out in this Superheavy Samurai deck with a one-card combo because of Wakaushi. Baronne has a consistent omni-negate and destroy effect, which justifies it as a strong pick for any Synchro Deck. | |
Therion "King" Regulus | |
Superheavy Samurai, as a deck, relies heavily on Machine monsters that can equip themselves with other monsters. Therion "King" Regulus takes advantage of this deck's philosophy by using them for its summon condition and helping them activate their effects. Furthermore, Regulus serves as another form of interruption through an omni-negate. | |
Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder | |
Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus - Sky Thunder becomes a massive threat in this deck by having the ability to have 4 materials through prior XYZ Summons. Due to this, Divine Arsenal could use two instances of its Quick Effect to send all cards on the field to the Graveyard which is not a hard once-per-turn | |
Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess | |
Being a monster-heavy deck, Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess can be used to clear the field while providing 3-4 negates. This can provide multiple layers of protection to your cards and their effect activations. |
With the entire Deck being comprised of Effect Monsters, Kashtira can easily punish effect activations of a Superheavy Samurai Deck. The moment it manages to lock out every single Main Monster Zone, Superheavy Samurai Decks are basically unplayable.
Kashtira Deck List & Card Guide
Despite hits on floodgates, Labrynth is one of the strongest Decks in the current meta--if not the strongest. Its Trap Card recursions makes it hard to stop its usual combos, and it has multiple interruptions built in that can mess up a Superheavy Samurai play.
Labrynth Deck List & Card Guide
Another Control Deck that can be played quite aggressively, Vanquish Soul is known for tagging in monsters between the field and the hand ito constantly gain advantage. From burn damage to card destruction, it is extremely hard to pin down a Vanquish Soul Deck.

Despite numerous hits in the banlist over the past few months, Branded Despia is as strong as ever with the recent support it has gotten. It even now has a lock combo if players decide to run Gimmick Puppet Nightmare as part of their Deck Recipe.
Branded Despia Deck List & Card Guide
If a usual Superheavy Samurai combo ends up being interrupted and the Machine-type monsters remain on the field, pray the opponent isn't using Cyber Dragons. It does not even need to use Super Polymerization to fuse away your own monsters as materials.

Droll & Lock Bird | |
---|---|
This combo deck variation of Superheavy Samurais relies heavily on multiple draws from the deck using Soulpiercer. Droll & Lock Bird denies you from searching out your Samurais, which stops your turn entirely. | |
Dimension Shifter | |
Dimension Shifter effectively stops your combos as accessing your Soulpiercer from the Graveyard is key | |
Effect Veiler | |
Effect Veiler denies you from maximizing Soulpiercer's searching capabilities by negating its effects until the end of your turn. | |
Called by the Grave | |
Called by the Grave stops most of your hand-traps since all of them are monster cards being sent to the Graveyard. Also, this card can potentially banish key cards from the Graveyard. |
