The Ishizu engine is a group of cards used in the anime by Ishizu Ishtar. Despite calling the engine as Ishizu, the cards do not possess the Ishizu in their card names.
They have strong Graveyard effects that lets you mill cards from deck (to fuel your graveyard with resources) and "Shuffler" to either recycle your cards or disrupt your opponent's graveyard plays.
Combined with the Chaos engine, this deck comes hand in hand. As they help each other in terms of graveyard reliance and strong control of the field thanks to Chaos's strong swarming combos.
The Ishizu cards are divided into 2 groups. The "Millers" and the "Shufflers"
Ishizu Monster | Effect |
Agido the Ancient Sentinel | Miller |
---|---|
Kelbek the Ancient Vanguard | Miller |
Keldo the Sacred Protector | Shuffler |
Mudora the Sword Oracle | Shuffler |
Agido and Kelbek let you send the top 5 cards of both players' deck into the Graveyard when they are sent to the Graveyard by any means.
They can also Special Summon themselves from hand if your opponent's card is sent to the Graveyard or Hand.
Keldo and Mudora on the other hand have a Quick-Effect in which they can banish themselves from the Graveyard to shuffle 3 cards from any player's graveyard back to the deck.
They also have an effect in the Hand that lets you Special Summon themselves by discarding an Earth Fairy Monster.
The Danger! engine lets you Summon themselves for free (if you hit another card with their effects). Randomly discarding an Ishizu card, especially the millers are extremely beneficial to the deck as they can easily proc their effects when you discard them.
Lightsworn maximizes the deck's self-milling capabilities since Wulf and Felis Special Summon themselves when sent from the Deck to the Graveyard, getting more free bodies on the field for combo extensions.
Raiden and Charge of the Light Brigade provides more milling for the deck. Increasing the chance to mill Ishizu cards or any Lightsworn monsters.
Minerva is a Rank 4 Xyz monster that mills and lets you draw cards equal to the number of Lightsworn monsters you milled with its effect.
Curious has a Foolish Burial effect and it mills as well when a card is sent to the Graveyard by a card effect.
Since the deck mills a lot, the Chaos engine will benefit the most here. With lots of fuels for the Chaos combo thanks to Ishizu's strong mill effects, the deck can effectively swarm the field with ease.
Chaos Dragon Levianeer and The Chaos Creator can be used to revive certain monsters with their effects, commonly summoning Archlord Kristya to close off the combo, locking the Special Summon for both players.
The remaining monsters are extenders and combo finishers.
Trick Clown and Destrudo are extenders to Synchro or Xyz plays as they have strong effects in the graveyard that let you summon them.
Archlord Kristya is a high-level Fairy monster with a high attack stat. It also has a continuous effect that prevents both players from Special Summoning monsters. This deck can easily summon Kristya using Dugares, Saryuja, Levianeer, or Chaos Creator's effect.
Ishizu Chaos's combo varies and heavily relies on good cards to be milled.
With that in mind, there is no definite step-by-step procedure for the combo.
This deck is more of an "Adaptive" type depending on what cards hit the Graveyard.
It is ideal to send the Ishizu cards: Agido and Kelbek to the Graveyard as soon as possible to mill multiple cards to the Graveyard like Wulf and Felis so that you can easily summon Chaos Ruler or Minerva to mill more cards for later combos.
Once the Graveyard is filled with necessary cards and you swarmed the field enough, you can slowly Link climb for Curious then, later on, be used for Apollousa and/or Saryuja.
As the deck approaches its final parts of the combo, the board should consist of one of these 3 cards.
Dugares and Chaos Creator can easily Special Summon Archlord Kristya from the Graveyard or Banish zone. to potentially lock the Special Summons of both Players.
Knightmare Gryphon provides a soft lock to monsters that are not linked. It also lets you set a spell/trap card from your Graveyard. Anti-Spell Fragrance is the go-to Trap card to set using Gryphon's effect.
Required Cards | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Activate Foolish Burial, to send Kelbek or Agido to the Graveyard. Use their effect to mill 5 cards from the deck. |
2 | Special Summon all Wulf, Felis, or Trick Clown that was sent to the Graveyard. If another Kelbek/Agido was sent, use their effects again to mill another 5 cards from the deck. |
3 | If Wulf and Felis are now on the field(or any 2 monsters that total to Level 8 that can be used as Synchro Materials), Synchro Summon Chaos Ruler and use its effect to mill another 5 cards from the Deck. Only add Danger! cards, Archlord Kristya, Chaos Levianeer, or The Chaos Creator for this effect. |
4 | Special Summon all Wulf, and Felis that were milled by Chaos Ruler's effect. |
5 | If Fairy Tail - Snow and/or Destrudo is already in the Graveyard, Special Summon them as well using their effects to slowly Link Climb into Saryuja or Curious. |
6 | If Collapserpent or Wyverburster is in the Hand already, Special Summon them. If Chaos Space is in the Graveyard, use its effect to add a copy of the Collapserpent or Wyverburster from the Deck. |
7 | Keldo and Mudora in the Graveyard act as a form of disruptions during the opponent's turn as they can reshuffle cards in the Graveyard back to the Deck. |
8 | Continuously repeat the Special Summoning combo while slowly Link climbing for the final board setup. |
Your End Board should look like this:
No Active Field Spell | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
1600 Atk | X | |||
1 Snow Material | ||||
- | - | - | - |
Notes:
Anti-Spell Fragrance can be randomly drawn using the effects of Danger! cards.
Archlord Kristya can be summoned using Chaos Creator or Saryuja's skill.
Borreload Savage Dragon is a staple to decks that can Link and Synchro Summon. Since this deck can do both as well, Borreload is worth the try depending on the format or line of plays a player wants.
Ancient Fairy Dragon is recently released from the Forbidden list with an erratum with its effect. Ancient Fairy lets you extend your combos since it lets you special summon a monster from hand.
Night Sword Serpent works similarly to Performage Trick Clown. It Special Summons itself when it hits the Graveyard. The difference is, you don't take effect damage from Sword Serpent, and it is not a Light monster, unlike Trick Clown.
Destiny Hero - Malicious lets you Special Summon another copy of itself by banishing itself in the graveyard.
Shinobi Necro and Giant Rex are your Banish fodders for Snow or Chaos Ruler as they Special Summon themselves when banished. Shinobi Necro is also a tuner so it can be used for Synchro plays.
Shaddoll Beast just lets you draw a card when it was sent to the Graveyard. Randomly milling this generates 1 free card in hand.
Tearlaments is one of the most anticipated archetype in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. Tearlaments specializes in milling cards and performing multiple Fusion Summons in a turn. Combined with Chaos engine, you can perform tons of Special Summons during your opponent's turn as well.
Floowandereeze use cards that hates the Graveyard like Dimensional Shifter, it also hard counters deck that Special Summons as it relies solely on multiple Tribue Summoning.

Branded decks have a strong 1-card opening combo and an answer to almost any action you do. They can also chip away your Life Points thanks to Masquerade's burn effect. Mirrorjade can also provide a strong board wipe when it leaves the field.
