Floowandereeze Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

A Floowandereeze Deck is an archetype centered around Normal and Tribute Summoning Winged Beast monsters with limiting effects for the opponent, mostly making the use of the Extra Deck situational.

The Deck is notorious for its primary use of its Main Deck as its ability to stop opponents from going with their plays using floodgates is their main win condition.

Core Combos and Interactions

Ideal Turn One Combo

This combo is the ideal start for Floowandereeze decks. The combo aims to lock your opponent during his turn by bringing out negates and counters in the form of monsters. If done correctly, you can potentially seal the game then and there.

Card(s) Needed
Floowandereeze & Robina
Step Description
1. Normal Summon Floowandereeze & Robina
2. Search for and Normal Summon Floowandereeze & Eglen. Activate its effect to search for Floowandereeze & Empen
3. Tribute Summon Empen by using Robina and Eglen as tributes. Resolve Robina's effect in the GY to bring it back to your hand.
4. Resolve Empen's effect to draw Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town.
5. Set Dreaming Town and end your turn.
6. During your opponent's turn, activate your Trap to Normal Summon Robina. Using Robina's effect, draw one D.D. Crow. Then resolve Eglen's effect from the GY to bring it back to your hand.
7. Normal Summon Eglen and search for Mist Valley Apex Avian, Dark Simorgh or Raiza the Mega Monarch
8. Depending on the situation, Normal Summon either Avian, Simorgh, or Raiza.
9 If you Normal Summon Avian/Raiza, you can resolve Dreaming Town's effect from the GY to flip your opponent's board.

Main Deck

Monsters

Floowandereeze Monsters Unique Effects
Floowandereeze & Robina Searches a Level 4 or higher Winged Beast monster.
Floowandereeze & Eglen Searches a Level 7 or higher Winged Beast monster.
Floowandereeze & Stri Banishes a card from either player's Graveyard.
Floowandereeze & Toccan Retrieves a banished "Floowandereeze" card.
Floowandereeze & Empen Searches a "Floowandereeze" Spell/Trap

The main Floowandereeze line has 3 shared effects, those being:

  1. They are Banished when they leave the Field;
  2. When they are Normal Summoned, they trigger an additional Normal Summon;
  3. If they are Banished by any means, you can add them back to your hand when you Normal Summon a Winged Beast.

Floowandereeze & Empen gets a special mention for its effect; so long as it remains in the Monster zone, it prevents the opponent from using the effects of Special Summoned monsters in Attack Position. It can also half the ATK and DEF if it gets involved in battle.

Floowandereeze & Snowl Mist Valley Apex Avian Raiza the Mega Monarch Dark Simorgh D.D. Crow

Aside from Empen, there are other options for Winged Beast monsters worthy of Tribute Summons. Archetype-wise, Floowandereeze & Snowl boosts this Deck's power to different heights by providing up to three Normal Summons or Sets per turn. It can also force all the opponent's monsters to face-down Defense Position, and can make all your monsters deal piercing battle damage.

For the additional Winged Beasts, these 4 cards are included to cover all sides:

  • Mist Valley Apex Avian - Has an Omni-negate Quick Effect by returning a Winged Beast monster from the field to the hand.
  • Raiza the Mega Monarch - Return cards from the Graveyard and on the Field.
  • Dark Simorgh - Disables the opponent's ability to Set cards on the Field
  • D.D. Crow - Can banish an opponent's card from the Graveyard by discarding itself from the hand.

Barrier Statue of the Torrent

While Barrier Statue of the Torrent might seem like an unconventional inclusion in this Deck, it can be easily accessed through the additional Normal Summon effect of the Floowandereeze cards and serves as a replacement for the Statue of the Stormwinds.

After setting up your board, you can Normal Summon this card to lock out Special Summoning apart from Water Type monsters. Afterward, you can bypass its effect since this Deck relies on Normal and Tribute Summons.

Dimension Shifter Maxx "C"

There are two key hand traps for this Deck:

  • Maxx "C" - Stops the opponent from performing multiple Special Summons by drawing a card every time the opponent Special Summons.
  • Dimension Shifter - Punishes Decks that use the GY as a secondary resource pool by banishing any card sent to the Graveyard until the end of the next turn.

Spells

Floowandereeze and the Magnificent Map Floowandereeze and the Unexplored Winds Floowandereeze and the Advent of Adventure

Three "Floowandereeze" Spell Cards are notable among the entire Deck. Floowandereeze and the Magnificent Map is exceptionally potent as a Field Spell as it can search out a Level 1 "Floowandereeze" monster and banish one from the hand.

Its true strength, however, is having the ability to immediately let you Normal Summon a monster after your opponent does so. You can chain Normal Summons with "Floowandereeze" monsters until you end up with a boss monster on the field by Tribute Summoning during the opponent's turn.

Floowandereeze and the Unexplored Winds acts as both a removal and a possible floodgate as it allows the player to use one of the monsters the opponent controls as Tribute should you ever commit to a Tribute Summon.

Floowandereeze and the Advent of Adventure is effectively a searcher and combo enabler as it lets you search out either a "Floowandereeze" monster of Field Spell by banishing a Winged Beast monster from your hand or field.

Pot of Prosperity Pot of Extravagance Pot of Duality

This Deck is one of the very few that makes use of Pot of Prosperity, Pot of Extravagance, and Pot of Duality since Floowandereeze rarely relies on using the Extra Deck. Look to these two cards for card advantage.

Even with Pot of Extravagance being limited as of late, the Deck is still consistent in getting its key cards to hand.

Harpie Called by the Grave

These spell cards are focused on letting the player go through with their combos.

Harpie's Feather Duster can clear out the opponent's back row before you make your first play, while Called by the Grave can stop popular hand traps such as Ash Blossom and Maxx "C" from resolving their effects.

Small World Triple Tactics Thrust

These spell cards help the player to search out essential cards from their Deck.

Small World lets you reveal a card from hand to choose 1 monster from your Deck that has the same Type, Attribute, Level, ATK, or Defense. Banish both of these cards to add a monster that has these factors as well.

Triple Tactics Thrust lets you set or search out the exact Spell card from your deck you need if the opponent interrupts you via a monster effect.

Book of Moon

Book of Moon, with its simple effect, is a reliable spell card due to its ability to not only answer the opponent's monster floodgates by setting them face-down, it also lets you dodge an opponent's interruption by setting your cards face-down.

Traps

Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town Harpie

You only need one copy of Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town to completely shut down the opponent. Activating it grants an immediate Normal Summon for you, and banishing it from the Graveyard during a different turn will force all the opponent's monsters to face-down Defense Position.

Harpie's Feather Storm lets you negate all monster effects if you control a Winged Monster, which is easily achievable due to this Deck's composition. On the off chance this set card gets destroyed, you can draw your Harpie's Feather Duster from your Deck or Graveyard.

Extra Deck Monsters

While this Deck rarely relies on the Extra Deck, it is still recommended to fill these slots for situations that warrant using them. For this Deck, Link and Level 1 XYZ Summons are utilized to accommodate this Deck's monster composition.

Slacker Magician Downerd Magician Kikinagashi Fucho Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale

All of the XYZ Summons are a way to easily access Divine Arsenal Zeus as they all share the same quality - their effects are all combat-oriented.

  • Slacker Magician - Cannot be destroyed by battle and can negate an effect and destroy a card that targets her.
  • Downerd Magician - This card gains 200 ATK per each material attached to her and deals piercing damage.
  • Kikinagashi Fucho - Unaffected by card effects, cannot be destroyed in battle, and takes no battle damage.
  • Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale - Can attack directly based on the amount of materials this card has. Can stack materials on XYZ Summon.

Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel - Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus Sky Thunder

If you are not able to set up your Winged Beast floodgates, it is recommended to pivot and end on a Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus Sky Thunder using your combat-oriented XYZ Summons.

Divine Arsenal could have as many as 3-4 materials to use for its Quick-Effect via Nightingale to send all cards on the field to the Graveyard which is not a hard once-per-turn.

Link Monsters Possible Uses
Underworld Goddess of the Closed World Used when you need to remove an uninteractable monster from the opponent's side of the field.
Accesscode Talker Used when you need to finish the Duel and can link climb.
Black Luster Soldier - Soldier of Chaos Mostly used as Link Climb fodder to Accesscode, but you can use his battle effects to ideally Banish 1 card on the field.
Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians Mostly used as Link Climb fodder to Accesscode using your XYZ Magicians. Can be used against Spell heavy decks to bring back a Downerd or Slacker Magician from your Graveyard.
Codebreaker Virus Swordsman Used as an answer to Bagooska since Link Monsters cannot be set in defense-position and its ATK exceeds Bagooska's DEF.
Eria the Water Charmer, Gentle Can be used to Link Climb with the Barrier Statue of the Torrent.
Linkuriboh Can be used to Link Climb with the Floowandereeze cards.
Relinquished Anima Can be used to steal a monster the opponent has.

These are the situational Link Summons and are mostly banished. They will rarely come out, but it is good to have them for certain moments nonetheless.

Boss Monsters

Floowandereeze & Empen
Floowandereeze & Empen If this card is on the field, the opponent cannot use the effects of Special Summoned Monsters they control in Attack Position. Floowandereeze & Empen can also half the ATK and DEF of a monster it faces in battle.
Mist Valley Apex Avian
Mist Valley Apex Avian On top of having rather impressive stats, Mist Valley Apex Avian is noted for its ability to negate a card or effect as a Quick Effect, by bouncing itself back to the hand.
Raiza the Mega Monarch
Raiza the Mega Monarch Raiza the Mega Monarch, when Tribute Summoned, it can bounce a card on the field and in either player's Graveyard, back to the respective player's hand. If a WIND monster was tributed to Tribute Summon this card, it can target one more card on the field for its effect.
Dark Simorgh
Dark Simorgh Dark Simorgh, when Summoned, disables the opponent from setting down any cards. This effect effectively shuts down Decks such as Labyrnth and Traptrix on Summon.
Floowandereeze & Snowl
Floowandereeze & Snowl Once per turn, Floowandereeze & Snowl provides the player the ability to Normal Summon 3 times in a single turn. It can provide piercing battle damage to all other monsters you control and can force all Special Summoned monsters the opponent controls to face-down Defense Position.

Zombie World P.U.N.K.

Master Duel - Zombie World P.U.N.K.

Since this Deck is centered around the Winged-Beasts, Zombie World nullifies their natural synergy by turning all monsters into Zombies, possibly locking the Floowandereeze player from setting up their floodgates.

Kashtira

Master Duel - Kashtira

This Deck relies on a wide board space to properly lock out the opponent from playing, thus making Kashtira a problem for this Deck. The moment Kashtira is allowed to block numerous card zones and banish key components of your combos, it is game over.

Mathmech

Mathmech Decks are known for their ability to keep on playing despite many interruptions, and Floowandereeze is no exception despite being known for their Summon locks.

Best Cards to Tech Against Spright Runick

Skill Drain
Skill Drain Skill Drain negates the effects of all monsters on the field, so long as this Continuous Trap is face-up and active. As the "Floowandereeze" monsters usually activate their effects on the field, this is one of the strongest floodgates you can run against them.
Infinite Impermanence
Infinite Impermanence Floowandereeze Decks typically start with either Eglen or Robina as their first Normal Summon. This is the best time to negate them with Infinite Impermanence--especially from the hand should you happen to go second.
Imperial Iron Wall
Imperial Iron Wall As long as Imperial Iron Wall is active, neither player can Banish cards. This becomes a disadvantage for the Floowandereeze Deck, as instead they will be forced to go to the Graveyard.
Chaos Hunter
Chaos Hunter Another hand trap-like effect, Chaos Hunter works similarly to Imperial Iron Wall. It also has high ATK that can deal with most of the "Floowandereeze" monsters.
Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit
Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit As all of the "Floowandereeze" monsters trigger their effects upon being Normal Summon, they are easily susceptible to Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. Even better, they are destroyed and sent to the GY instead of being Banished.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring There are quite a lot of search effects within a Floowandereeze Deck, especially with the Pot cards and Floowandereeze & Robina. Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring is an invaluable card against this Deck.
Droll & Lock Bird
Droll & Lock Bird This Deck requires numerous searches, and Droll & Lock Bird easily counters that as when its Effect resolves, you will not be able to add cards from your Main Deck to hand during your turn.
