Red-Eyes Burn Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

This version of Red-Eyes prioritizes Burn damage done by cards such as Red-Eyes Metal Flare Dragon and Red-Eyes Burn.

Use Red-Eyes Burn Deck Cards Early

To maximize the power of these aforementioned cards, try bringing them out as early as possible. You can do this easily with this deck as it has card searchers and draws to fulfill the requirement for the key cards. These cards are also strong enough on their own and allow you to not rely on your boss monsters to finish the game.

Equally Effective Offense and Defense

The Red-Eyes Burn deck also allows you to play it in a midrange style similar to traditional Red-Eyes decks. The extenders and techs in your Extra Deck give you different ways to maneuver and pilot the deck without relying on the built-in Burn package.

Core Combos and Interactions

Turn One Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon

This combo brings out Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon during your first turn if you have the right cards in hand.

1. Have Dragon Shrine, and Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon in hand and at least one Red-Eyes Black Dragon in your deck.
2. Activate Dragon Shrine to send Red-Eyes Black Flare and Absorouter Dragon from your deck to the GY. Activate Absorouter's effect and add Rokket Synchron to your hand.
3. Normal Summon Rokket Synchron and activate its effect to Special Summon the Absorouter Dragon you sent to your GY.
Gems Tip! If you have Noctovision Dragon in hand, you can skip ahead to step 6. Use Noctovision's effect to Special Summon it as a second material for your Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon.
4. Link Summon Striker Dragon using your Rokket Synchron as material. Activate Striker's effect to draw Boot Sector Launch from your deck and add Synchron back to your hand.
5. Play Boot Sector Launch to safely Special Summon Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
6. Special Summon Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon from your Extra Deck using Malefic and Absorouter Dragon as materials.
Gems Tip! You can get a second Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon out on the field if you have Noctovision Dragon in hand. Activate the first one's effect to bring out Red-Eyes Black Flare from your GY. Use Black Flare and Noctovision as material for the second Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon.

Dragon Shrine

As much as you can, try and pick Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon as your first discard when using Dragon Shrine. This is to ensure that you have fuel for your Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon in addition to triggering the second discard.

For the second discard, try and get Absorouter Dragon to your Graveyard to trigger its card search effect (take Rokket Synchron) or Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms if it's during the later stages of the match to try and pump out an additional Xyz monster.

Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon

Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon can only survive on the field if there is a Field Spell and if it's the only Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon on your side of the field. The first part of its effect means that the monster will survive if your opponent has a Field Spell.

Additionally, try and leave Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon as the final Xyz Material for your Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon. Compared to the other Level 7 monsters, Malefic has no Graveyard effect and is a liability if left on the field due to its effect that says it's your only monster that can attack.

Boss Monsters

Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon
Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon is your primary source of damage. As long as this card has an attached material, it cannot be destroyed by any card effect in additiong to your opponent taking 500 damage each time they activate a card effect.
Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon acts as an engine that nets you fuel for your Extra Deck summons. Activating this card will give you the option to Special Summon a Dragon from your hand or Graveyard. You can activate this card's effect once per turn.
Borrelsword Dragon
Borrelsword Dragon Borrelsword Dragon allow you to deal with large monster threats on the board. This card changes an attack position monster to defense position. Additionally, if you attack with this monster, it halves its target's ATK and adds it to its own.

Budget Red-Eyes Burn: F2P Friendly

Lower Rarity Replacements

SR/UR Replacements
Upstart Goblin Dark World Dealings
Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon

This deck is already relatively cheap compared to other meta decks. But, if you're struggling with CP-URs, you can replace a couple of cards with cheaper SR versions. The Red-Eyes package, however, must remain intact for this deck to work.

Red-Eyes Burn Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Red-Eyes Burn

Sky Strikers

Master Duel - Sky Striker Top Image

Sky Strikers is a bad matchup for Red-Eyes as they have answers to most of our weapons. And even though this deck relies on chaining effects which seems good against Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon on paper, Sky Striker Mecha - Widow Anchor cleanly shuts down our Xyz monster. And like most decks, it's a tough task trying to get a monster to stick on the board against Sky Strikers.

Sky Strikers Deck List and Card Guide

Necrovalley

Necrovalley, in most cases, is an auto-loss as it completely shuts down our Graveyard plays. This matchup limits the plays we can make, seeing as how Red-Eyes Burn relies on the Graveyard. One way to combat this deck is by teching in cards that can destroy the Field Spell Necrovalley like Mystical Space Typhoon. Additionally, you have to try and chain your Link Monsters to get your Borrelsword Dragon out as soon as you can.

Best Cards to Tech Against Red-Eyes Burn

Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder
Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder bypasses Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon's effect since it also negates effects that destroys it. Zeus can stall out at least two turns against Red-Eyes Burn.
Virtual World Kyubi - Shenshen
Virtual World Kyubi - Shenshen Virtual World Kyubi - Shenshen banishes any card that is sent to either Graveyard. This is a brutal effect against Red-Eyes as we heavily rely on our Graveyard to make plays.
Monster Reborn
Monster Reborn An opponent using Monster Reborn on one of your Red-Eyes Black Dragon is game-ending since most of your plays rely on having one in your Graveyard.

This deck is absolutely terrible do not use this deck. It bricks all the time and has zero options half the time.

1 Nilmurabout 2 years

Deck count is correct without the extra entries, however the entries for Red-eyes Malefic dragon and Red-eyes Flare dragon are listed twice.
