The Chasing Embers side quest can be started by talking to Torben in the Fat Goose Inn after finishing the Pyre of Ash quest. You can fast travel to the Under the Fat Goose Inn to reach Torben easily.

The quest Chasing Embers will automatically be unlocked after speaking with Torben to finish the Pyre of Ash side quest.

Search the Scar for Blackweald Company with Torben
To find Blackweald Company's location, head to the cliff where you can find a Pyre.

Rescue the Pyre Victim
Speak with the Pyre Victim to finish the quest. Finishing Chasing Embers automatically unlocks the next quest, The Bear of Blackweald.
