Talk to Shob'ha
Talk to Shob'ha to start the quest.

Diablo 4 - Investigate Corruption
Search for Barret in the Dark Thicket
Head southwest towards the highlighted area in the Dark Thicket and interact with the red pool to look for clues.

Kill Corrupted Deer
Kill the three corrupted deer that will spawn in the area.

Examine the Area
Interact with the Pool of Magic, Chewed Corpse, and Broken Fence to progress the quest.

Find Evidence of what happened to Barret
From the red pool, head to the next highlighted circle to look for Barret. Once Barret has been defeated, pick up Barret's Corrupted Heart from the corpse.

Return to Shob'ha
Return to Shob'ha to inform her about Barret's passing. Finishing this quest will also start The Old Ways side quest.
