Airdrops are an open-world feature and a source of loot exclusive to the Dogtown subdistrict of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Check out our guide for information on Airdrops, how they can be obtained, and what rewards you can get from them!

Airdrops are a dynamic open world event included in the Phantom Liberty DLC. They regularly drop down from the sky within Dogtown, carrying valuable loot that can only be obtained after defeating a group of enemies.
Phantom Liberty DLC Release Date
Airdrops will randomly spawn in Dogtown, but will not be marked on the Mini-map. To find them, players will need to keep an eye out for a flying airship while exploring Dogtown. These usually release Airdrops that will then be marked by a large plume of red smoke that you can follow.
Dogtown Map Guide and Locations

Airdrop landing sites are usually guarded by multiple enemies. In order to access the Airdrop and its loot, you will first need to kill all the enemies in the area. If playing on higher difficulties, make sure you have an updated build that can go toe-to-toe with the Barghest and their heavily armed troops.
Best Builds for Phantom Liberty

After defeating the surrounding enemies, you need to hack into the Airdrop using Breach Protocol to open it and get the loot.
Hacking and Breach Protocol Guide
Failing to hack the terminal will not lock you out of the rewards. Instead, all you really need to do is jack in and try again, albeit this time with a different sequence required.

Airdrops are one of the only guaranteed sources for both Carrying Capacity Shards and Skill Shards. Make sure to loot them for these alone as Carrying Capacity becomes an issue at higher levels, especially with the nerf of the Body attribute bonuses in 2.0.
Airdrops are one of the main sources for high-tier crafting components. Players are guaranteed at least Tier 4 (or higher) crafting components, allowing you to quickly farm up the needed amounts for crafting or upgrading.

Finally, Airdrops are also a great source for high-tier weapons and items. At level 50+, airdrops will usually only drop Tier 5++ weapons, allowing you to build up a permanent arsenal for the late game.
Additionally, it can also contain Clothing, Tier 4-5 weapon mods and attachments, and high tier consumables (includes health items and explosives).
