Crimson Desert Latest Trailer, Release Schedule, and More
Jetpacks, Dragons, Trains, Massive Bosses, and More
Crimson Desert unveiled its official launch trailer on March 12, showcasing its diverse features and some story snippets. The video delivers an adrenaline-fueled final look at the continent of Pywel before its global debut on March 19.
Players take on the role of Kliff, a member of the Greymane Mercenaries who becomes separated from his unit following an ambush by the Black Bears. The trailer’s intro offers a glimpse into the volatile relationship between these two factions, setting the stage for one of the game's central narratives.

The footage quickly shifts into a showcase of the game’s abundant features, highlighting visceral combat against massive bosses like a lightning-charged mechanical construct and the formidable White Horn. Beyond swordplay, the game features a variety of traversal and gameplay mechanics, such as dragon-riding combat, the use of a gravity hand to grapple onto speeding trains, and flying around the skies with a jetpack.
Last month, the developers also shared new details about the game’s characters and open world, giving a more in-depth look at the land of Pywel.
Although Pearl Abyss transitioned Crimson Desert from a live-service Black Desert prequel to a dedicated action-adventure title, it still honors its heritage by refining classic RPG mechanics while introducing entirely new systems.

Those on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can run the game on FSR 3, with the PS5 Pro utilizing PSSR. Meanwhile, Mac support includes MetalFX Upscaling, Frame Generation, and Denoiser integration.

An internet connection is required for the initial setup and mandatory Day 1 patch to ensure players have the most up-to-date version of the game. Once this installation is complete, Crimson Desert can be enjoyed entirely offline.
However, Pearl Abyss has noted that future patches will be released to optimize performance and the overall player experience. While Crimson Desert supports offline play, a consistent internet connection is recommended to ensure the game remains fully updated with these enhancements.
Quietly Adding Denuvo DRM

With just a week before its official release, Crimson Desert has surprisingly added a controversial feature that has made many PC players wary of the game. A recent update to the game’s Steam page confirms that the highly anticipated RPG will use Denuvo DRM for its anti-piracy measures.
The community has been vocal in its criticism of the third-party security suite, with many players arguing that the software negatively impacts system performance. Others raise privacy concerns over its kernel-level access, leading some to label it intrusive or even "malware-like" due to its deep integration into the OS.

However, other high-profile titles, such as the PC version of Stellar Blade, continued to utilize Denuvo despite intense fan backlash, emphasizing that such measures are necessary to ensure a "safe" and fair environment for all players at launch. In contrast to those sticking with the software, games such as inZOI and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle ultimately removed Denuvo in response to community pushback.
According ot Crimson Desert’s SteamDB history, the third-party security software was added on March 12 at 9:05 am UTC. Upon discovery, fans voiced out their concerns on the game’s Steam discussion page, with some even planning to withdraw their pre-orders for it.

With over three million wishlists, Crimson Desert is clearly one of the year's most anticipated titles. However, the true test will be whether the community’s frustration over the new DRM translates into a noticeable dip in those massive numbers.
Crimson Desert is set to be released on March 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. To stay up-to-date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below.
