The Bond of Duelists is meant to celebrate 25 Years of the card game Yu-Gi-Oh!, culminating in an event at the Tokyo Dome on February 3-4, 2024 (JST).
The Tokyo Dome event, dubbed The Legend of Duelist was first announced during the 2023 World Championship, where Master Duel participated as a game for the first time. Promotions about the event have been live since then.
The goal of the event is to obtain four Friendship Chains first spread out during the Tokyo Dome event via special 2D Barcodes obtained when attending there. According to the schedule, the chains will be released in the following times:
Green Chain | February 3, 2024 7:00 AM (JST) |
---|---|
Yellow Chain | February 3, 2024 1:00 PM (JST) |
Red Chain | February 4, 2024 7:00 AM (JST) |
Orange Chain | February 4, 2024 1:00 PM (JST) |
There are two ways of obtaining the Friendship Chain during this event:
A majority of the playerbase will most definitely not make it to Tokyo Dome, so the most likely option is to Duel people to attempt to get Friendship Chains.
Duels from Duel Room and Ranked Duels will count towards progress in attempting to get a Friendship Chain, which is why they are currently marked with a special symbol in the Duel Menu.
A Duel between two players where one of them holds a Friendship Chain is automatically considered a Friendship Duel.
To obtain a Friendship Chain, you simply have to Duel. Results do not matter. If one of the players already has multiple colors of Friendship Chains, the one obtained will be randomized.
If a player who does not have a Friendship Chain Duel against someone who has, at the end of the Duel a special cutscene will play showing that a Friendship Chain has been obtained.
Surrendering is the only way players will not obtain Friendship Chains, so see the Duels through until the end.
A special World Map can be accessed in the Main Menu, found in the lower right corner. Clicking on the tab will bring you to a special page that shows all the participating regions.
The number of Friendship Duels happening here is updated in real-time, with each one Duel counting as 1 if both players are from the same region.
There is no reward nor contest involving these number of Friendship Duels, but only an interesting way to see the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel community from players' respective region.
Players can earn these rewards by giving the Friendship Chains to other Duelists slowly being spread out over time. Giving all four Friendship Chain colors will reward Duelists a brand-new card added to the game with a Royal Finish.
