Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship 2023 News

For the first time in three years, the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship will take place, inviting players from all around the world, and Master Duel will be one of the games participating in the event!

Date of 2023 World Championship

As posted in Konami's official website, this year's World Champshionship will be held on August 5-6, 2023, and it will take place in the Tokyo International Exhibition Center.

Unique to Master Duel, the WCS Finals will be played through a Team Battle format, with Duelists competing in teams of three Region Representatives--one selected through the WCS Qualifiers, and two hand-picked players chosen by the top player of the WCS Qualifiers.

2023 World Championship Details

The World Championship is the highest caliber of competition in Yu-Gi-Oh!, inviting the best Duelists from around the world into one single event to determine the new King of Games!

This marks the first time in four years the event will take place since 2019, due to the event being cancelled between 2020 to 2022.

Master Duel in World Championship

The physical card game and Duel Links are separate divisions in the event, each having their own tournament.

This year will be the first time Master Duel will be one of the games participating in the World Championship!

NOTE: Duelists can participate in Qualifiers for all three categories, but players can only choose one to compete in if they qualify for multiple categories

WCS 2023 Finals Page Launched

A special Events page for the 2023 World Championship is now available at the Main Menu! Players can keep track of the WCS Finals here, as well as cheer them on with the Cheer for your Champion! Campaign!

Here, players can keep track of the win-loss progress between the eight teams, with their win-loss record set in a table for their 1st Stage, and the brackets for the winning teams in the Final Tournament.

WCS 2023 Finals Format

There are two stages for the WCS Finals: Stage 1, and the Final Tournament.

Stage 1

Stage 1 splits up the eight Teams into 2 groups of 4, and both groups will play in a Round Robin format.

Group A will be composed of Japan's To the future, Asia's Sindang Pros, North America's Team 7, and Europe's StarsnaTCH.

For Group B, they consist of Japan's Bogin Japan, North America's Lil Pingu, Latin America's PRRJ, and Europe's snipehunters.

Final Tournament

Only the top two teams from each Round Robin Group will advance to the Final Tournament, which is a single-eliminiation bracket of 4.

The games will be played in another Round Robin of 3v3, and the first team to 5 wins will advance. There is a maximum of 9 Duels possible if the Duels are closely contested.

The Semifinals is set on August 5, while the Grand Finals will be on August 6, 2023, JST Time (GMT+9).

The winner of the Final Tournament will be crowned Master Duel's very first World Champions!

The finalists participating in the World Championship in Japan have been revealed! Time for you to place your bet to see which team will be crowned World Champion, and you may just win some hefty prizes!

The 2023 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship is coming up very soon, and to celebrate, Master Duel has released two special Bundle Packs, which include 5 Master Packs, an Icon, a Protector, and Monster Art for the Main Menu!

The following Bundles are based on the reimagining of two of the most iconic monsters in the history of Yu-Gi-Oh!: Blue-Eyes White Dragon, represented by the Legendary Dragon of White; and Dark Magician, as represented by the Legendary Magician of Dark.

2023 World Championship Qualifiers

It has been announced that there will be World Championship Qualifiers held in-game. Players will have a chance to qualify for the event by competing in Duels to see who can move on to the next round.
