How to Activate and Solve Hedge Maze Puzzles
Pass Through the Green Archway
Pass through the middle of the leafy archway to activate and start the Blackwood hedge maze. The hedge maze should appear on the map only when you are close to it.
Find the Large Chest
After interacting with the note by the maze entrance, you can enter the maze and Grass Walls will appear. Navigate your way through the maze, and you will be able to complete the challenge once you open the Large Chest at the very end!
Tips for Solving Hedge Maze Puzzles
| ・Use Revelio to see where the chest is. ・Try to look for paths heading towards the center of the maze, where the chest usually is. ・Edges of the maze typically lead to an exit. Try to avoid these so you don't have to start over! ・Load an earlier save file to generate a different maze layout. |
Hedge Mazes are Randomized
The layout of the maze is determined randomly, so if ever you are struggling with one maze in particular, you can load an earlier save file to generate a different maze layout!

Solve Hedge Maze as Soon as You Find One
Hedge Mazes tend to disappear after being found. The best way to prevent a hedge maze from disappearing is to finish one as soon as you find it.
Reload Previous Save
If a hedge maze has already disappeared and isn't appearing anymore, try reloading a previous save file before discovering the hedge maze.
Check Other Hedge Maze Spawn Locations
Hedge mazes spawn at the 5 designated spawn locations across the map. Check these 5 spawn locations to see if any mazes spawn in these areas.
Progress Story to Change Season
Hedge Mazes reappear when the season changes in-game. Try progressing through the main quest to advance the season.
Only PC Mods Allow Season Changing Post-Game
Once you've reached the post-game, you will be unable to change the season anymore. There are, however, unofficial mods for the PC version that allow you to change the season at will.

Safely Ignore Them
If all else fails and you are unable to make hedge mazes spawn, fret not, since these are not tied to 100% game completion and are not required for any trophies/achievements.

Large Chests are the main reward found at the end of Blackwood Hedge Mazes, and these chests will always reward you with random Legendary Gear!

What are Hedge Mazes?
Puzzles That Appear Randomly
Hedge Mazes are puzzles that appear randomly. Only the puzzle is random, but the their spawn locations are fixed. They tend to disappear once you find them, so finish one as soon as it appears. Once completed, you'll be able to claim random Legendary Gear in a large chest at the end of the maze.
How Many Hedge Mazes are There?
There are a total of five Hedge Maze puzzles scattered across The Highlands region. Go to there spawn locations and reach the end of the maze!

Anonymo almost 3 yearsAnyone solve the missing hedge mazes mystery? All my mazes have disappeared from my map. I had icons for them at one point and now they are gone. I’ve tried restarting from a save point but it hasn’t helped.
