Hogwarts Legacy - Can You Increase the Vivarium Species Limit?

You cannot increase the species limit of a Vivarium but you can unlock more Vivariums as a workaround in Hogwarts Legacy. Read on to learn more about how many species you can have in a Vivarium, how to unlock more Vivariums, and more!

Can You Increase the Vivarium Species Limit?

No, Vivariums Are Limited to 4 Species

Hogwarts Legacy - 4 Active Species in Vivarium

When you unlock your first Vivarium, you will notice that the limit set for the Beasts you can keep is 12 while the species limit is set at 4. There is currently no way of increasing these limits at the present state of Hogwarts Legacy.

The reasons for this might be related to the logistics of the area as having more than the limit could prove to be too crowded. Another reason is that there are other Vivariums that will unlock in your Room of Requirement as you progress through the side quests.

Should players find 4 species to be too limiting, you can unlock more Vivariums by completing the side quests listed in the table above.

If you have all 4 Vivariums unlocked, you can store at least 16 different species of beasts and a total of 48 individual beasts.
