Hogwarts Legacy - How to Skip Time: Day and Night Cycle Explained

Players can skip time by selecting wait in the Map screen of Hogwarts Legacy. Read on to know how to skip time, how to unlock day and night cycles, and the differences between day and night cycles.

How to Skip Time

Skip Time From the Map Menu

Hogwarts Legacy - Select Wait from Map Menu

Players can skip time by opening up the Map screen and selecting Wait by pressing R3. This will bring up a confirmation message asking if you want to advance the time to the next day or night.

There is no way of skipping time to a specific time of day as the options only include changing from day and night. In addition, you cannot wait while on a mount so be sure to dismount first before opening up the Map menu.

Hogwarts Legacy - Return to common room for the night

Advancing the time won't automatically be unlocked as you will have to complete a few main quests to gain this feature. More specifically, you will need to complete the Welcome to Hogsmeade main quest.

Day and Night Cycle Explained

Enables Certain Features

Hogwarts Legacy - Demiguise Statue in Tombs and Scrolls

A Demiguise Statue as seen in the Tombs and Scrolls shop in Hogsmeade.

Switching between the day and night cycles enables certain features to be available. An example of this would be the ability to collect Demiguise Statues. While these collectibles can be found in different areas of the game, they can only be acquired at night.

Changes the Environment

As the name implies, switching over from either day and night cycle changes the environment to reflect the desired time. The day cycle features more students around Hogwarts while the night cycle significantly reduces this, giving a more realistic feel to the school.

Some quests take place at a certain time of day

Due to the day and night cycle, some quest givers will not appear unless you wait for the day to change.

Instead, a golden circle will appear in their place allowing you to wait and skip the time without opening up the Map menu.
