Harry Potter will not make an appearance in Hogwarts Legacy as the game is set in the 1800s, about a hundred years before the timeline of JK Rowling's books. It is also yet to be confirmed if Hogwarts Legacy is Canon to the game and if it will take place in an alternative universe to the original Harry Potter timeline.
This means that we won't be expecting any sort of reference or mentions of Harry Potter throughout the game.
Nearly Headless Nick is the house ghost of Gryffindor from the Harry Potter Universe that is confirmed to be included in the game.
In the Playstation State of Play, he can be seen in one of the cutscenes talking to the player, this can mean that he may play a key role throughout the player character's journey in the game.
Professor Binns is a Hogwarts Professor from the books who died due to old age and returned as a ghost to continue imparting his knowledge to his students. He is set to make an appearance in Hogwarts Legacy, teaching History of Magic as one of the classes in the game.
The Fat Lady is a character from the Harry Potter Universe that will make an appearance in the game. Similar to her role from the books, she guards the Gryffindor common room and Gryffindor students must say the correct password to enter.
