How to Unlock Poached Egg and Location

Part of Poppy Sweeting's Questline

Poached Egg Unlock Conditions
1 Fire and Vice (Main Quest)
2 A Dragon Debrief (Side Quest)
3 Professor Weasley's Assignment (Main Quest)

Poached Egg is unlocked as part of Poppy Sweeting's Relationship questline. In order to unlock it you'll first need to have completed all of the previous quests as listed above.

Additionally, although not part of the Poppy questline, you'll also need to complete Professor Weasley's Assignment quest first.

Poached Egg Walkthrough

Objectives

Poached Egg World View
Talk to Poppy in Hogsmeade town circle.
Poppy is waiting by the tree. If it's not daytime when you arrive, you'll have to Wait in the glowing circle first. Speak to Poppy in the daytime.

Poached Egg Step 2
Find the dragon's nest.
You'll be automatically transported to where Poppy found the dragon. Follow the straightforward path until you encounter mongrels. Dispatch them then head up the bridge.

Use Reparo on the bridge then cross it. Keep heading straight through the path until you encounter a cut scene with the dragon.

Get past the dragon and closer to her nest.
The dragon shoots 3 fireballs at a time. In between its rounds, quickly head forward and duck behind the cover in front of you. Keep doing this until you make it forward to the entryway beneath the dragon.

Head up to the second floor, where there'll be another area where you'll have to find cover from dragon shots. Similarly push forward here. Note that in this area, the dragon only fires 2 fireballs.

Poached Egg Step 3b
Head up to the third floor, where there'll be yet another area you'll need to find cover. Push forward yet again here to the cave beneath the dragon.

Poached Egg Step 4
Place the egg in its nest.
Head up through the cave and to the broken bridge. Use Reparo on it to cross. Place the Egg on the rock on the other side. This completes the quest.

Poached Egg Tips and Strategies

Duck Behind Stone Cover

When trying to find cover to shield you from dragon fire, stone/brick cover would be your best bet, as wooden boxes get completely destroyed by the fire blast.
