Hogwarts Legacy is free to upgrade from PS4 to PS5. Read on to learn if you can get a version for both the PS4 and the PS5, as well as info on whether the Xbox versions have an upgrade available for last-gen consoles.
Is There a Free PS4 to PS5 Upgrade?
Free Cross-Gen Upgrade for Digital Deluxe PS4 Owners
The answer is yes! You are able to upgrade the game from PS4 to PS5 for free, but only if you have the Digital Deluxe Edition.
This is an exclusive feature available to those who have purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, which allows for a Cross-Gen Upgrade without having to pay extra.
Sadly, those who purchased the Standard Edition will not get the free upgrade.
PS4 players will need to wait until April 04, 2023 to play the game, as its game launch has been pushed back. PS5 players are able to play the game as early as February 07, 2023.
Purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition to Get Access to Both Platform Versions
The Digital Deluxe Edition of Hogwarts Legacy entitles you to both PS4 and PS5 versions of the game. There's no need to repurchase the game if you decide to switch consoles, as this allows players of both consoles (or players who plan to upgrade to PS5) to access the game without hassle.

Similar to the PS versions of the game, purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition on the Xbox series allows you to enjoy a free upgrade from the Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S version. Xbox One users will also need to wait until April 04, 2023, due to the delay in its release.

Anonymous almost 3 yearsyes it states in this article if you have standard there is sadly no free upgrade. It’s just letting us know we need to buy the digitial delux to have access to a free upgrade one day
