The main protagonist of Hogwarts Legacy is a student whose physical appearance, gender, and House can be chosen by the player. They have received a late acceptance at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and attend the school as a fifth-year student.

A brave student with a strong sense of justice, Natsai grew up in Matabeleland, Africa and attended Uagadaou, the largest wizarding school in the world. She transferred to Hogwarts when her mother became the school's Divination professor.

George Osric is a high-ranking official in the Ministry of Magic and a friend to Eleazar and Miriam Fig. He helps the main protagonist in solving an indecipherable riddle that Miriam has discovered before she passed away.
