How to Apply Traits

Apply Traits to Gear with the Loom

You can use the Loom to upgrade your gear inside the Room of Requirement. You will need to unlock the Room of Requirement first before you can get access to the Loom and other stations inside.

The loom unlocks after completing The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom main story quest.

Best Traits

Add Buffs to Your Gear

Traits are bonuses you can apply into your gear to provide additional effects to them. Some traits offer defensive abilities, while others buff up your damage or attack.

You can then equip a trait to your gear or upgrade the gear itself for additional effects and increase its stats. However, make sure you have enough upgrade materials, or you won't be able to upgrade it. To get more upgrade materials, tend to the Beasts you've rescued in the Vivarium.

Trait Effects are Stackable

Using the same Traits on a Gear will stack up its effect. Having a few extra for each of your Traits is fine, as you will be able to use them, especially if it's hard to complete a quest or an beat enemy without a buff from your Trait.

Should You Stack Traits?

Customize Your Traits

Players are able to choose their Traits and add them whenever they wish, as long as they have the required materials! This allows players to adjust their stats according to the situation they're in or the quests they plan on taking.

Quests that require you to go into the Forbidden Forest, for example, will bring you face to face with lots of spiders, so you will benefit from Traits such as Anti-Venom I.

How to Unlock Traits

Collect Trait Recipes in Bandit Camps

You can obtain traits by collecting Traits Recipes from Bandit Camps. Look for the camp icon on the overworld to find one. Fight the Dark Wizards and Witches to clear the camp and safely loot the Collection Chest containing the Trait!

There are a total of 77 traits that you can add to your gear to boost your offense or defense in Hogwarts Legacy.

Complete Challenges

Some Challenges in Hogwarts Legacy will reward you with Traits. Do the indicated Challenge, which is mostly Combat Challenges, to get the Trait and finish up to the end to earn extra rewards.
