You can steal a Ranger's Crossbow Bolt by using Ancient Magic Throw while they are preparing to shoot you. You can only use this against Loyalist Ranger enemies, since they use dark Ancient Magic for their attacks.

Being able to successfully steal a Loyalist Ranger's crossbow bolt during battle will help you complete Dueling Feats challenges, which not only grants you XP, but also helps you 100% the game.
