You unlock The Plight of the House-Elf quest after completing the penultimate part of the Prepare for your Search for the Final Keeper task, meaning you have to complete the main quests Astronomy Class and The High Keep.

| 1 | Speak to the Hufflepuff next to Dogweed and Deathcap. Talk to Sacharissa Tugwood outside Dogweed and Deathcap, north of Hogsmeade. |
| 2 |  Go the Forbidden Forest north of Hogsmeade. Fast travel to the Upper Hogsfield or Jackdaw's Tomb Floo Flames then use your broom to fly the rest of the way to the marker. |
| 3 | Find Bubotubers (5) There will be a search area around the marker denoted by a purple circle on your minimap. You can 5 Bubotubers sprouting on the ground within this area. Collect them. |
| 4 | Return to Sacharissa Tugwood. Talk to Sacharissa, who's in the same spot outside Dogweed and Deathcap, to complete the quest. |

When talking to Sacharissa to complete the quest, you can select the Yes, but for a higher price. dialogue option to earn 500 Gold, 200 greater than the base 300 Gold reward.
