There are five types of gear in Hogwarts Legacy, and gear color indicates rarity. Read on to learn about the different types of gear, what the gear colors mean, and more!

Hogwarts Legacy - Standard Gear Standard N/A Starter gear that usually comes with no stat boosts. Cannot be upgraded.
Sell Value: 30 Gold
Hogwarts Legacy - Well-Appointed Gear Well-Appointed N/A Most common gear with unimpressive boosts. Cannot be upgraded.
Sell Value: 60 Gold
Hogwarts Legacy - Superb Gear Superb I Decent gear with great stat boosts for early gameplay.
Sell Value: 90 Gold
Hogwarts Legacy - Extraordinary Gear Extraordinary II Gear with impressive stat boosts and good for mid gameplay.
Sell Value: 150 Gold
Hogwarts Legacy - Legendary Gear Legendary III Best gear and sometimes already comes with gear traits.

What Do The Colors Mean?

The icon color of each gear that you obtain indicates its rarity and quality, with the dark blue color being the starter gear that is most common with no stat boosts, and the orange being the rarest gear with great stat boosts.

Most side quests that involve puzzles usually reward you with higher quality gear such as Extraordinary and Legendary gear.

You can get rare gear randomly by exploring around the overworld of Hogwarts Legacy and solving puzzles and looting chests.

Save Before Opening Chests

The gear you receive from chests are randomized, regardless of the location. Another tip of getting gear is saving before opening chests and loading your saved file until you get a gear you are satisfied with.

Use Revelio to Reveal Chests

Hogwarts Legacy - Revelio Reveals Chests
